Side Mission Guide
The following is a guide to each of the side missions, where to find them, how to complete them, and their various rewards. If you notice any discrepancies between this guide and your own experience, please PM me and I will either update the game with any necessary bug-fixes or update the guide to correctly detail a certain sequence.

Assassination
Assassination is a repeatable mission that can be obtained by speaking to Sanguine in the Sanctuary any time after entering the Caeli Forest. The mission can be repeated endlessly for more rewards.

Assassination requires you to travel to any random town or dungeon you've previously visited and kill a random target. If the target is in a dungeon, you'll simply need to find the target and speak to them to begin a fight with them. If the target is in a town, you may speak to them to fight them during the day, however they will be reinforced by three leveled soldiers. If you speak to the target in town at night, there is a small chance that they will be reinforced by one solider.

Once the target has been killed, you may return to the Sanctuary and speak to Sanguine to collect your reward. You will be rewarded with 100 gold per level of the party leader.

Plant Hunting
Plant Hunting is a repeatable mission that can be obtained by speaking to the Alchemist in the Sanctuary any time after entering the Caeli Forest. The mission can be repeated endlessly for more rewards.

Plant Hunting requires you to travel to any random town or dungeon you've previously visited and collect an ingredient. If the ingredient is in a dungeon, you must find the chest that the ingredient is hidden in. If the ingredient is in a town, you must search the X shaped plots of dirt located throughout the town. One of those five plots will contain the specific ingredient.

Once you've collected the ingredient, you may return to the Sanctuary and speak to the Alchemist to collect your reward. You will be rewarded with 75 gold per level of the party leader, as well as a leveled Medicine, Remedy, and Toxin.

Infiltration
Infiltration is a repeatable mission that can be obtained by speaking to Numbers in the Sanctuary any time after entering the Caeli Forest. The mission can be repeated endlessly for more rewards.

Infiltration requires you to travel to any random town or dungeon you've previously visited and break into a locked chest. If the chest is in a dungeon, you must simply find the chest, then pick the lock on the chest. If the chest is in a town, you must first find the house or shop that the chest is located in, then pick the lock on that building at night. Once the building has been entered, pick the lock on the chest to collect the item within.

Once you've collected the item, you may return to the Sanctuary and speak to Numbers to collect your reward. You will be rewarded with 50 gold per level of the party leader, as well as a random leveled weapon.

Green Thumb
Green Thumb is the first non-repeatable side mission. Green Thumb can be collected by speaking to the Gardener in the bottom-left cave in Emerdala and accepting the Alchemy Kit from her, then speaking to her again.

This mission will require you to collect several herb for the Gardener. You will need 10 Yellow Herbs, 10 Purple Herbs, and 3 Gold Herbs. Herbs can be found on the multi-coloured bushes in the Caeli forest by interacting with them. In addition, most monsters have a chance to drop certain herbs when defeated. I will detail each of the enemies which drop these herbs at this point in the game below.

Purple Herbs - Crabs, Wasps, Queen Ants
Yellow Herbs - Birds, Wasps, Mushrooms
Gold Herbs - Killer Ants, Queen Ants

Wasps and Queen Ants are the best enemies to fight for these, as they both have a chance to drop more than one of the necessary herbs. To that end, the Caeli Grove is ideal for farming. Once you've collected the necessary herbs, return to the Gardener and she will reward you with an Ultimate Medicine and an Ultimate Remedy. In addition, her shop will now carry these herbs as a regular item. Both Yellow and Purple Herbs are useful for crafting later in the game, and Gold Herbs can be a very affordable restorative, but they do have a chance to poison.

Ringleader
Ringleader is obtained by speaking to the Bartender in the Amethyne Pub. The mission will require you to find two groups of bandits, as well as their leader. This mission can be very difficult at low levels, and is recommended to complete after the mission "Bombs Away."

The first group of three bandits can be found in a small pass between Amethyne and Mount Fulmen, found by taking the right fork when the path splits. Killing these bandits will give you the Bandit's Note.

The second group of three bandits can be found to the North-West of Amethyne, down a small pass that leads to the coast. Killing this group will give you a second Bandit's Note.

Take these notes back to the Bartender, who will read them. He will then direct you to go to the peak of Mount Fulmen, where the leader of the bandits is camped. Return to Mount Fulmen (if you've beaten "Bombs Away," you can take the elevator to the peak). At the top of the elevator, the Bandit leader will be walking around, and speaking to him will begin the fight. This bandit is considerably tougher than any of the ones you faced earlier, however he will fight alone. Kill the Bandit leader, then return to the Bartender.

Once you've returned to the Bartender and spoken to him, he will reward you with a Tonic of your choice. Each of the six Tonics will give a permanent stat increase to anyone who uses it, with your choice of HP, MP, ATK, DEF, SPI, or AGI. The Tonics are also worth a considerable amount of gold, and can be sold for 5000 gold instead if you do not want the stat increase.

Fair Trade
Fair Trade can be obtained any time after completing the mission "Vengeance." The mission can be found by speaking to a man at the Cyana Pub.

For this mission, you will be asked to deliver a letter to the merchant in Diamo. This mission is very simple, and shouldn't take long to complete. Simply accept the letter, then sail to Diamo. In Diamo, find the item shop, and speak to the Merchant. She will accept the letter, then direct you back to the man in Cyana.

Return to the man at the Cyana Pub and speak to him. He will reward you with 1000 gold. In addition, the Boat has been relocated. At this point, you can now sail the Ship to a small sandy pass just East of Cyana, walk across the pass, and take the Boat the rest of the way to Diamo, reducing your travel time and preventing the necessity of sailing all the way around the continent.

Last Wish
Last Wish can be obtained any time after completing the mission "Vengeance." The mission can be found by speaking to the Blonde Woman at the Rubana Inn.

This mission will require you to do some detective work. You must start by travelling to the town of Topale, and asking around. Each of the residents will have something different to say, but the man you are looking for is at the Inn. Head to the Inn and speak to the bearded man sitting at the table. He will tell you to go to the Tower of Unda.

Travel to the Tower of Unda, and make your way to the top of the tower. On the right side of the roof, there will be a green-haired man. Speak to the man, and he will direct you to go to Rubana and find someone who is sick.

Return to Rubana, and ask around town. Once again, each of these residents will say something new, but you are looking for the elderly man in the bottom-right house. Speaking to him will reveal that he is the sick man. He will direct you to Gareth's Castle.

Travel to Gareth's Castle, then enter the Barracks. There will be a woman standing in front of a table. Speak to her, and she will give you the key item, "Ashes."

Return to Topale, then go to the Inn. The green-haired man from earlier will be in one of the rooms of the Inn. Speak to the man, and he will ask you to go to the top of the Tower of Lux to scatter the Ashes.

Travel to the Tower of Lux, and make your way to the roof of the tower. It should be slightly easier now that you've already been through here once, but just in case it may help to bring some Bait with you to reduce encounters. Once you've reached the roof of the tower, cross the roof to find the woman you met earlier. Speak to her, and she will scatter the ashes, then get struck by lightning and fall from the tower. Leave the tower and return to Topale.

Back in Topale, speak to the green-haired man again, and he will return to Rubana. Go back to Rubana and enter the Inn, where the man will be seated with his wife. Speak to the man again to turn in the mission and collect your reward. He will give you an Amulet, which negates critical hits on the wearer. He will also give you a Ferry Pass, which grants free access to the boat that takes you between the different islands. If you already have the Ferry Pass and are doing this mission on New Game Plus, you will receive 1000 gold instead.

Haunted
Haunted is available any time after completing the mission "The Test." This mission can be found by speaking to the Innkeeper at the Diamo Inn.

This mission will require you to kill monsters plaguing the town at night. Accepting the mission will cause you to sleep at the Inn for free, turning it to night time (even if it is already night). Once you've rested, search the village for the glowing blue flames that represent Phantoms. Interact with the flames to start a fight, then kill the Phantom to disperse the flame. There are 8 Phantoms in total. Be careful with your search, and check behind buildings and trees to find them all. If you leave the village or enter any buildings, all the Phantoms you've defeated will return and the counter will reset. In addition, the Phantoms will disappear if you take too long and daybreak hits.

Once you've destroyed each of the Phantoms, head to the center of the village where you'll find a ghostly soldier. Speak to the solider, who will ask you to destroy him. A brief cutscene will play, and the ghosts will be gone for good. Return to the Innkeeper to turn in the mission and collect your reward. You will be rewarded with 1500 gold and an Ice Badge, which resists Ice magic and Frostbite. In addition, you will be able to rest at this Inn for a discounted price of 75 gold.

Lost
Lost can be obtained any time after completing the mission "Stratagem." This mission can be found by speaking to the blue-haired woman wandering the town of Silvein.

This mission will require you to find the woman's lost daughter. Start your search near the Merchant. There will be a set of footprints in the sand near the shop. Approaching the footsteps will cause Rain to comment on them, and another set of footprints to appear a bit to the South. Follow the footprints around the town, interacting with them as you go. Eventually, you will be lead to the Mines of Terra. Enter the Mines to continue your search.

Inside the mines, speak to the brown-haired man in the bottom-right corner of the map. From there, go across the mines to the bottom-left side, and speak to the silver-haired elderly man. Then go deeper into the mines and speak to the balding man standing near the lever. After him, go to the right and speak to the younger blonde man.

From the blonde man, go deeper into the mines until you find the silver-haired woman. Speak to her, then speak to the bearded man in the room directly behind her. Go through the tunnel entrance, then speak to the green-haired man on your left. Cross the tracks, activate the mine cart, then activate it again to reach the end of the tracks. Drop down the ledge and speak to the blue-haired man, who should be standing in front of a hole in the floor. Once you've spoken to him, interact with the hole and drop down.

At the bottom of the hole, you'll be in a very dark room with limited visibility. You may encounter Ghouls in this area, so be prepared for that. Explore the edges of the platform you are standing on, and you'll find that you can jump across the gap to a nearby platform. Jump the gap, then continue to do this around the map. You'll need to find the next platform each time and simply approach the gap to jump it. Once you've reached the far side, there will be a young blue-haired girl waiting there. Speak to her, and you'll be teleported out of the mines.

Once you've left the mines, a small cutscene will take place where you'll be rewarded for the mission. The woman will reward you with an Earth Badge, which resists Earth magic and Blind. In addition, you can now mine the Silver Ore located throughout the Mines of Terra, which can be used to craft Silver weapons and armour from the Forge in Silvein.

Slayer
Slayer can be found any time after completing the mission "Break of Dawn." You can collect the mission by speaking to the soldier with red armour in Goldare.

For this mission, you will be required to kill a dragon. There isn't much else to the mission, but it can only be done during the day. Once you've accepted the mission, leave Goldare and circle the mountains until you reach the red tent just to the North-West of town. Enter the Goldare Camp, then speak to the soldier standing in front of the tent. He will give you four Fire Badges, which resist Fire magic and Ignition. Once you're ready, tell the soldier and you'll need to wait for the dragon to arrive.

Once the dragon arrives, you'll start a fight with the Red Dragon. The dragon has very high attack and an Overdrive skill which attacks all allies with Fire damage. In addition, this particular Dragon will have all status ailments dissipate after only one turn, making skills such as Venom practically useless. With that said, the dragon does not resist Overdrive skills, so having Shadow prepared with a full Overdrive meter before the fight can make this battle very simple. Just have Shadow use Assassinate (or Silence, if he has it unlocked), and with a bit of luck you can kill the dragon in one attack.

Once the dragon has been defeated, return to Goldare and speak to the soldier once more. He will reward you with 5000 gold and 3 Ultimate Elixirs. In addition, you can keep or sell the Fire Badges you were given earlier.

Exports
Exports is available any time after completing the mission "Kain." To find the mission, speak to the Academ located in the Sapphane Pub.

Exports will require you to find a use for each of the main exports of the towns you visit. You will simply need to find the correct person to deliver the item to. I will detail the correct sequence below.

Acceptance Letter - Take this item to the blonde woman seated at the bar in the Amethyne Pub. She will give you Farm Tools.
Farm Tools - Take the tools to the farmer in Cyana. You may need to speak to him twice. He will trade you the tools for Fresh Produce.
Fresh Produce - Deliver the produce to a woman in a house in Silvein. The house is at the top of the map, on the right. She will give you a Silver Circlet.
Silver Circlet - Take the circlet to a man in Emerdala. The man is in the cave house in the far bottom-right of the map. He will give you a Silver Herb.
Silver Herb - Take the herb to a woman in Diamo. She is in the house immediately to the right upon entering the village. She will trade you the Powder Steel.
Powder Steel - Take the steel to the blacksmith at the Forge in Rubana. He will give you a Fresh Fish in exchange.
Fresh Fish - Bring the fish to Goldare, then speak to the man seated at the Inn. He will trade you a Golden Hilt.
Golden Hilt - Take the hilt to the Armoury in Sapphane.

Once you've completed the sequence, you will receive a free Diamond Weapon of your choice from the merchant at the Armoury in Sapphane. You can choose any weapon except daggers and kunai.

Death Games
Death Games is available any time after completing the mission "Kain." It can be obtained by speaking to the Orator at the Sapphane Arena.

This mission will enter you into a five round tournament. Rain will fight solo against a series of enemies that get progressively more difficult. The first step is to qualify for the tournament. This is done by winning regular matches at the arena.

Regular matches can be fought by speaking to the Bookmaker at the stand in the Arena. The difficulty of your fight is based on your wager, and you will gain more renown for defeating more difficult foes. Once you've reached the top of the standings in the arena, you can speak to the Orator again to receive an invitation. You can check your standings by reading the book at the Bookmakers stand.

Once you've received the invitation, speak to the Orator to be taken to the Bloodworks. Keep in mind, you will not be able to use any of the ultimate weapons during this mission. Be sure to bring something different. Within the Bloodworks is a shop that sells steel weapons as well as some basic items. There are also training dummies if you would like to practice your skills and raise their levels. There isn't much else to do yet, so use one of the beds to rest for the day.

The next day, you will be greeted by the Orator who will ask you to meet him by the stairs. Head for the stairs and speak to the Orator, and you will be taken to the Arena. After a brief introduction, your first fight will begin with a tier 1 Murderer wielding a Bronze Sword. Murderer's have a slight defense bonus compared to other targets, but this fight should still be extremely easy, and requires no special strategy. Once you've killed the target, you'll be taken back to the Bloodworks where you can rest for the day.

One thing you may notice at this point is that there are fewer people in the Bloodworks. As the days progress, more and more contestants will be eliminated, and the Bloodworks will gradually empty. Regardless, on the second day, speak to the Orator by the stairs to start your second match. This match will be against a tier 2 Thief wielding an Iron Dagger. Thieves have a speed bonus, but this fight also requires very little strategy, so kill the Thief and return to the Bloodworks, then rest for another day.

The third day is slightly different, as you'll be fighting two matches this time, and won't have the option to rest in-between. Speak to the Orator to start the third match, this one against a tier 3 Lecher with a Steel Spear. This is where the fights get to be more challenging and require a bit more strategy. The Lecher has a health bonus, so skills such as Venom are very useful, as poison deals slip damage based on the targets maximum HP. In addition, Shroud is very useful, as it negates all physical damage against the user for 4 turns per enemy, plus a base of 4 turns. In all the arena fights, Shroud will last exactly 8 turns. With this in mind, if you can trigger Shroud at the beginning of the fight, you can time exactly when it will dissipate, and re-enable it after the duration is over. Whittle away the health of the Lecher using Venom and basic attacks. Lethality can also Bleed any of the arena targets, and is a very useful Overdrive skill for this mission. Kill the Lecher and return to the Bloodworks.

Back in the Bloodworks, look for the maiden in the training area. Speak to her and ask for healing, and she will fully heal Rain for the next fight. You can also ask her about various aspects of the arena if you so choose. Once you have been healed, speak to the Orator again to start your fourth fight.

The fourth fight is against a tier 4 Spy. The Spy has an evasion bonus, and wields a Silver Katana. Start this fight by triggering Shroud immediately, then time its usage to have an action ready when it dissipates to re-enable it again. Poison the Spy with Venom, Bleed her with either Lethality or Shuriken, and try to let the slip damage kill her while surviving her attacks with Shroud. Once she is dead, return to the Bloodworks and rest for the day.

On the last day, you will be greeted by a Bandit instead of the Orator. Speak to the Orator at the base of the stairs to start the last fight. Before the fight starts, you can see that there is a massive crowd around the Arena, and if you look carefully you can see each of your party members watching the fight, as well as a few unique characters. The last fight is against a tier 5 Bandit, who gets an attack bonus and wields a Diamond Axe, and if you are severely under-leveled or exceptionally unlucky, he can kill you in one hit, especially when using Cleave. The basic strategy here is to survive his first attack, then use Shroud immediately. Concentrate can help you keep up with the Bandit's speed, and Venom can poison him fairly easily. Poison and Bleed the Bandit as much as possible and let the slip damage kill him, but be very careful to count how many turns have passed since using Shroud. At 8 turns, Shroud will dissipate, and you'll want to have an action queued so that you can enable it again right away. It is recommended to have Shroud at a higher level for this mission, preferably level V or above. Higher levels give a higher success rate for Shroud, with a 100% success rate at level X.

Once the Bandit has been defeated, you will be teleported out of the Arena and you'll receive your reward. You will be rewarded with 10,000 gold, as well as an Elixir Ring, which restores HP every turn and halves the MP cost of the user. The ring is also very valuable, and can be sold for 50,000 gold, but it is the only one you can find in the game without finding the secret shop. After completing Death Games, the people around the Arena will interact with you differently, and competing in regular arena matches will draw a very large crowd.

Treasure Hunt
Treasure Hunt is available any time after completing the mission "Break of Dawn." The mission can be obtained by speaking to Numbers at the Sanctuary.

This mission will require you to break into a high-security treasure room and obtain the material hidden within. Make sure to bring lots of lockpicks on this mission. Accept the mission, then travel to Astrid's Palace. Within Astrid's Palace, find the dungeon. In the dungeon, pick the lock on the bottom-right most cell. Inside the cell, examine the wall to the right. There should be a wall that you can interact with, which will open up to reveal a hidden passage. Walk through the wall to enter the hidden treasury. Inside the treasury, there are two more locked doors that need to be picked. Once you've picked the locks on the doors, you can enter the treasury proper and pick the lock on the center chest. This chest contains the Bone Shard. You may also pick the locks on the adjacent chests to find two pairs of Black Gloves, a pair of White Gloves, and a pair of Diamond Gauntlets.

Return to the Sanctuary and speak to Numbers to deliver the Bone Shard. He will reward you with a Bone Lockpick. The Bone Lockpick is a lockpick that never breaks, meaning that you'll never need to purchase another lockpick again. If you already have the Bone Lockpick and are completing this on New Game Plus, you will instead be rewarded with a Mana Ring.

Ciphers
Ciphers is available any time after completing the mission "Break of Dawn." The mission can be obtained by speaking to the Alchemist at the Sanctuary.

This mission will require you to find a Ciphered Page from Gareth's Library. Travel to Gareth's Castle, then enter the Library. There are no hints as to where the page is, and it may be in a different location each time you do this mission. Search each of the shelves, and be sure to search both sides! The page will be on one of the shelves. Collect the page, then return to the Sanctuary.

Speak to the Alchemist to deliver the Ciphered Page. He will reward you with Page 4, the last recipe page for potion making. If you have all four pages at this point, you can select any of the pages in your inventory to condense them into a book. With all four pages, you can now make every tier of Elixir using Purple Herbs as ingredients. If you already have Page 4 or the Recipe Book and are completing this mission on New Game Plus, you will instead be rewarded with an Experience Ring.

Slaughter
Slaughter is available any time after completing the mission "Break of Dawn." The mission can be obtained by speaking to Sanguine at the Sanctuary.

This mission will require you to kill a General in the Castle of Dawn. Travel to Goldare and enter the castle. Turn right and climb the stairs on the East side of the Great Hall to enter the Bedchambers. The General will be waiting there. Speak to him to start the fight. The General is fairly tough, but not as tough as Dawn, and he has a lot more weaknesses. He can be poisoned, for example, or killed instantly by use of Assassinate or Silence. Kill the General, then return to the Sanctuary.

Back at the Sanctuary, speak to Sanguine to turn in the mission. He will reward you by teaching Rain a valuable skill, Miasma I. Miasma has double the MP cost of any other assassin technique, but combines the abilities of all three. Using Miasma will damage and potentially poison the target, and will heal Rain equal to the damage dealt. In addition, Rain will be cured of most status ailments, and there is a 50% chance of applying Shroud on Rain. If Rain has already learned Miasma and is completing this mission on New Game Plus, you will instead receive a Life Ring.
