Eons ago, the world and all of its splendors were created by the magnificent and all-powerful being simply known as the "Creator." It wove the threads of life, and upon creating the planet of Tsufanubra, spotted it with its most cherished life-form: man.

Having gifted mankind with all of its blessing and necessities, the Creator simply watched as man forged his own path in life, and over the decades crafted himself in to a race of truly wondrous individuals numbering in the millions.

The Creator, however, grew tired of this creation, and thus gave life to three heavenly Kings to watch over and monitor the world in his stead. One of these Kings, Celes, wanted more than the Creator could ever possibly give her: she wanted its power--the divine power of creation. Upon being rejected of her request, the mighty guardian revolted against her creator and all of his creations, and was tossed from her perch atop the heavens in to a realm of purgatory; an island resting between the earth and heavens, but far enough away from either that they'd taunt her position for all of eternity.

Countless years have passed since that fated day, and now that island prison hanging in purgatory between Heaven and Earth will become the destination for four youths seeking revenge against a murderous man. Their journey, however, may lead them on an adventure that could reshape the very foundation of all that was, and all that could ever be...

Eternal Paradise is a dungeon crawler RPG complete with an epic fantasy story told In Media Res. Borrowing ideas heavily from earlier RPGS, it is void of puzzles of any kind and deals solely with exploration and enemy encounters. Due to this, the game bolsters a hefty challenge suitable only for those who would prefer a more difficult and thought-provoking experience than what may be found in most mainstream games of the same genre.

Celebrating Over 1000 Downloads!

After all this time, Eternal Paradise has finally accumulated over 1000 downloads and entered the territory of being one of my most pupolar games (under DF 1 and 2)!

Big thanks to all those who contributed to this project, and also to the people who gave it a chance! Much appreciated, folks.

And of COURSE ScarymanMEOW is going to get a mention, as he's still the one person who's completed this game over 6 times! He's gotten sick of it now though, but who can blame him? I'm lucky if I'm able to finish ANY game twice, let alone 6 times. And an RPG Maker game at that! Hahaha. Awesome.

CELEBRATIONS ARE IN ORDER! CAKE AND BOOZE FOR ALL! WOO-HOO!!!

Beat the game a few hours ago :O
It was very well written and had a good story to boot. My biggest complaint is that it took awhile to get into it. Feels like it starts abruptly, and with the characters starting in their Lvl40s, it didn't really feel like I was taking 'ownership' of the party if you catch my drift.
Once I actually got into the game, things took off and I enjoyed it. Even had a tear going once or twice ;-;
Gameplay was crisp and fun. It helped that I understand the RPGMaker2k mechanics so I knew how much more valuable 2 AGI is compared to 100 Int.

One other thing, you shouldn't let songs fade out too much. Particularly offending is the miniboss music (like with Chimera II). It only lasts one and a half minutes, but the boss battle goes for a solid 5 at least. If you want to use a fading song, de-mp3 it, wav edit it, and re-mp3 it. I use windows sound recorder to do this and it seems to do the trick.
I'm glad that you finished it, but am disappointed that I waited this long before giving a response. I'm just bored and browsing the comments of my older games, hahaha.

The story could have been better and the dialogue more concise, but other than that I think I had the right idea of where I wanted to go with it. I'm glad you liked it, but not many others did (from those that have commented). I think I'm going to go back and re-write it someday, but that will be when I'm finished with all of my current projects.

More importantly is the fact that you had fun! I'm glad that the gameplay captivated you, because that was my main focus. I had fun with all of the choice and such, but I don't think many others felt the same about being bombarded with such a vast amount of equipment and ability options. But oh well! The game did decently, and I'm happy with it.
What font are you using with this game? There wasn't one included with the download, and it's giving me that completely unreadable default font.
Really? I thought the font I was using was on near every comp. Or maybe that was just me... Lol.

Anyway, I'll have it up soon.
I submitted the Font files, and only have to wait for them to be accepted. For now, here is the filefront link: http://www.gamefront.com/files/20537948/EP+Fonts.zip
Guys, im new to rmn. can someone tell me the program Im supposed to use to run it? when I click on it it asks what program I want to open it with.
Try asking on the main forum. You'll probably get a better and more concise answer than what you'd receive from me. Lol.

What exactly won't work when you click on it? Do you have WinRAR to unzip the file? (You can find it easily using google!) If not, that's probably the cause.
I think the problem turnbased is having is because it comes up as an "lzh" file instead of a zip or rar. I haven't been able to open it yet either.
Right click on the download and change the extension to rar then open it with whatever program you usually use. it's working fine for me now
That's weird. That's REALLY WEIRD. When I right-click on the .RAR file that I've got on my desktop of Eternal Paradise, it says that it's a ".izh" file, but I don't have to do any special procedure to extract it or anything. Even then, the project just makes it self in to one after being compressed? Lol. I don't know how these things work.

Also, you two (?) are the only people so far who've reported this occurring. =S
I tried this for a good 2-3 hours. I wanted to like it. A few things I just couldn't get passed, though.

Not too fond of the party starting out at level 38-39 or so, and the story just kind of being...epic (for lack of a better word) from the start. I bought a ton of new weapons and armor, and was doing fine in the first area.

After stuff happens and you get sent down to that other area, I was immediately unable to kill anything anymore. The difficulty seemed to jump way too high without a way for me to overcome them.
Yeah, one of the main gripes people have with Eternal Paradise is the way the story starts and generally IS. It's because of this that I've decided to actually go back and work on a prequel game that will (hopefully) meet completion once I've finished with my Dragon Fantasy remake.

What the game is generally praised for, however, is its difficulty and battles/gameplay. Sure, there's not an overwhelming amount of variety, and it may grow fairly tedious after a while, but it usually ends up being what people say is done best. It's best to focus on skills and what-not over weapons and such, especially during the first part of the game. The initial buying of whatever weapons/armor you like (one piece in each category for every character, roughly) SHOULD do until you make decent progress into the abyss.

The battles boil down to figuring out how to deal with the area's enemies after some trial-and-error, and then utilizing the correct skills to take out the right enemies first after entering a battle.

If you need any assistance, I've done a few play-through videos of the game that I haven't touched in a while, but should suffice.

Being awesome also helps. Seriously though, it's pretty easy. :D

666 downloads.. is it still an Eternal Paradise? Cool game so far, been meaning to get back to this.
/renames game "Eternal Suffering."

I dislike having that number there. QUCIKLY! SOMEONE GO AND DOWNLOAD IT! NOW! HURRY!!!

Gah!

Thanks for the comment though! How far did you get, exactly? =P

EDIT:
At least I got 6 more downloads since then. Hahaha. CRISIS AVERTED!
Is there a way to get a download for the fonts working again ?
Done! Hopefully it works, and that's the font that I had there. Haha. Hopefully.
My save file keeps getting deleted. I am unable to load my game, which makes me sad all day. I'm sure this error is entirely due to my own foolishness, but any help you can offer would be much appreciated. I like the game so far and would very much like to be able to finish it.
Your file is DELETED? Really? That's strange. I have no clue how that could be happening, and no one has ever reported a similar incident (at least with this game). I'm afraid I can offer no more advice other than to say to re-install/download the game and try again! Sorry. =\

That, or ask on the forums if you continue to have problems. Someone else may know something about what may be happening.
