RTP EXPANSION MAY BE REQUIRED: http://rapidshare.com/files/419850720/RTP2.rar.html

-=Staff=-
Programming, mapping, and story: Deckiller
Graphics and overall influence: Kentona, Mitsuhide, Zeph
Music selection: Deckiller, Edchuy, Dezz123, Orpheus
Characterization: The entire RMN community

-=Overview=-
Legend of Denadel was my third project; the demo was created in 2010 after playing Hero's Realm and getting to know the insanely active RMN community of the era. After amassing about 2,000 downloads, I took down the demo. I reposted it fairly recently.

The inspiration for this "semi-community game" came from my playthroughs of Hero's Realm and Final Fantasy VI Advance, and also from my work on the Ultima Island community game.

Most of the graphics will be RTP or RTP-oriented; however, I plan to use smaller sprites and classic side-scrolling enemy graphics, like most old-school RPG Maker games.

Gameplay will be classic side-scrolling ATB, though the DBS will be used to its fullest. That I can promise you. There will be a classic level-up system in this game, though I will be throwing some twists in. Dungeons will be a mix of puzzle-oriented and old-school romps.

-=Chapter 1=-

The Kingdom of Denadel is in turmoil! For the first time in a century, the Demons are on the offensive! Demon attacks have been reported in the area of the Wachenta Caverns, and the King of Denadel is extremely worried that it may be the sign of an mass global invasion. But the attacks have been minor thus far, and the King believes that nipping the source of the attacks in the bud will quell the threat before it truly begins. The King has a powerful weapon to cleanse the cave of any demons, but there's a problem.

Those who release the cave-cleansing weapon will almost surely die before escaping. It's a suicide mission!

Obviously this hasn't been worked on in ages.

Why hide the fact that it's been cancelled? It's 2018. These projects serve as stepping stones for us, and there's no shame in being honest. Sometimes we see them through to completion; other times things just don't work out. I bit off too much than I could chew as a naive 20 year old who was going to school full time AND working full time, and it just fizzled. The demo is pretty good, overall, if unpolished - but was this really going to turn into a 20 hour game?

I still think there is a market for a FF6 version of Hero's Realm, and I still want to reuse these maps, but it will be in a different context and a different medium. Legend of Denadel was a great learning process while I was a noob to RPG Maker and while I wish this project had done great things for the community it unfortunately was not meant to be.

To everyone who believed in me back then, I'm sorry I let you down when it came to completing some of my projects. Things just happened so fast and I ended up doing all sorts of other things in RPG Maker that I was never able to go back to my basic projects (this and Carlsev Saga II).

Could you let me be the Priest? I plan to use "Mirage" as my (priest's) name.
Also, for white magic, I would suggest these:

Cure I, II, III: Single-target HP-healing spells
Heal I, II, III: Group-target HP-healing spells
Purify: Single-target spell that cures Poison
Sight: Single-target spell that cures Blind
Awaken: Group-target spell that cures Sleep
Vox: Single-target spell that cures Silence
Realize: Single-target spell that cures Confuse
Life I, X: Single-target spells that revive a dead ally (I revives with 1+ HP, X revives with full (9999) HP)
Holy I, II, III: Single-target holy spells
Smite I, II, III: Group-target holy spells

Thanks for the suggestions! Spells like holy, smite, and life will go under your "Divinity" secondary, as most characters will be able to use either black, white, or support magic.
What about:
Esuna: Cures all status effects apart from Death.
Divine Spirit: Restores full HP/MP to all allies.

If you don't have anyone for Medic (I dunno if someone called it), I can take it.

Dezz: Divine Spirit would work, as long as HP/MP is max. It could be the Priest's highest level white magic. Already had an esuna though!

Ocean, thanks for taking the medic! It's actually quite different from the priest; the former gets group heal abilities sooner, while the latter does not get the group status heals. However, the Priest gets anti-undead and revival magic, but the medic has a free White Wind-esque secondary.
This has inspired me to do something like this with VX RTP.
I'll use these spells.
Level 1: Shield I
Level 2: None
Level: 3 Aura I
Level: 4: Slow I
Level 5: Haste I
Level: 6: Meltdown I

That could work for your first few levels, though you'll eventually learn all the level-one support spells by the time you cap out. Plus, I'll be adding more spells :)

You can always give me some new ideas once you see chapter 1 in action.
I have no idea what the chapter names are (or what an area intro is) but I whipped something up:

I can change fonts, move it around, or basically do whatever I want. This is just a sample idea.

EDIT:
see?
I'll just take these:

Level 1: Cure I
Level 2: Awaken I
Level 5: Sight I
Level 6: Holy I
Level 8: Purify I
Level 12: Vox I
Level 13: Cure II
Level 15: Smite I

Level 20: Realize I
Level 22: Heal II
Level 25: Smite II
Level 27: Life I
Level 32: Cure III
Level 36: Holy III
Level 39: Recover
Level 41: Heal III
Level 43: Smite III
Level 48: Life II
Level 55: Divine Spirit

I agree with MTV. It obscures less and a lesser important part of the dragon.
I just came up with a few support spells (I'm only filling in what's missing):

Focus I, II: Single-target spell that doubles intellect. Focus II targets a whole group.
Weak I, II: Single-target spell that halves attack. Weak II targets a whole group.
Discord I, II: Single-target spell that halves intellect. Discord II targets a whole group.
Disrupt I, II: Single-target spell that reduces elemental resistance (raises damage taken from spells). Disrupt II targets a whole group.
Regen I, II: Single-target spell that heals HP over time. Regen II targets a whole group.
Faith I, II: Single-target spell that heals MP over time. Faith II targets a whole group.
Dispel I, II: Single-target spell that removes beneficial status effects (Aura, Focus, Regen, etc.). Dispel II targets a whole group.

I also whipped up 2 new black spells:

Grand Fall: Single-target spell that does around as much damage as Flare/Ruin III, but also inflicts every negative status effect out there (other than Death).
Death: Instantly kills one enemy.

Thanks for all the input, guys! I love the bottom design, Kent. Mirage, I like those high-level Black and Support spells. As for the magic growth list, I'll try to incorporate that as much as I can, balance permitting.

So this is chapter 1's title.

I am trying to make area headers but I'm not having a good go of it. I am really at a loss at what to do. So here are two samples. One is a basic white text with black outline (make the background transparent when you use it in game):

This one is like the chapter titles, but it's kinda big and I don't know what to do about the border:

Any other ideas?

Those look awesome! I think the simple "Denadel Castle" intro will be best; I can put it in the bottom corner when the character enters an area, and then phase it out after a couple seconds.
Wow, those look great, Kent!
Looks like everything's falling into place for you, Deckiller. Great job!
Really can't wait to play the demo of chapter 1.

I'm really excited about this project. The best part is that I'll have plenty of time to work on it over the next two weeks.

For the area intro, I'm having trouble getting the black background transparent in the maker. I may have to figure out how to edit images in Windows 7 :)
