Basic Info:
This is a bit harder than your typical RPG you play now a-days. It's very basic, but contains fun gameplay elements. In short, this game is not for everyone, it's difficult and you're not gonna coast through it. Bosses are hard, enemies are hard. Especially at the early levels when death is only cure-able at churches in town.

Story:

700 years ago, the world of man was a place of peace. People lived their lives without fear, and mankind flourished. It didn't last. A great evil emerged, and laid waste to civilization. When all hope seemed lost, a hero stepped forth, and turned the tides of war. He pushed the evil ones back, and saved our world. Peace returned, and lasted for many centuries. But history has a way of repeating, and darkness always returns. A putrid force is working to bring true evil back to our world. The hero who saved us is long dead, though he has but one descendant. That descendant, however, is no hero. With no intention of defeating the coming evil, but rather bringing it forth. It seems a new hero is needed, one who can stop this new force, and save our world from annihilation.

Fable of Heroes II update, 4-21-13

It's hard finding time to work on this game. But things are going along well.

I have an outline for the plot of the game, and have put in about 50% of the plots content, which has given the game about 6-ish hours of playtime. Not bad, since I'm shooting for around 10+. I've been working out the balance issue, and trying to make sure all the items, weapons and skills are useful and fun.

I'm considering getting a writer to go through my script and beef it up. I've seen what writers can do, and I think that would add so much depth to this project.

I know this isn't the most popular RPG maker series, but since the first game was featured on this site, I feel a need to make sure the sequel is much better and address the issues of the first game.

I found the final key and the yellow fang - just not the other 2 I need !
I nearly didn't play this game, but then I thoroughly enjoyed it. Balanced gameplay, a great sense of exploration, fulfilling rewards for exploring - these are things that many JRPGs nowadays don't feature (in contrast to Fable of Heroes I). And the fight against the Demon King is easily one of the most epic RPG maker boss battles of all time. In case you ever want to further polish your entertaining game, Dustsoft, here's a list with a few improvement suggestions:

Sequence breaking: When Vael is visited before completing the initial violet flower quest, the cutscene is triggered nonetheless. Maybe the bridge leading north should be impassable before the violet flower quest has been completed (it seems that completing this quest isn't even - technically - necessary to beat the game). Otherwise, it's possible, e.g., to recruit Tac early (but if the player does this, the Vael cutscene won't trigger - thankfully, later events will trigger correctly).

Poison shows its effects outside of battles, but does it show any during battles?

Ariel: Shouldn't her skill "sleepmore" (puts all enemies to sleep; 4 MP) cost more than her skill "sleep" (puts an enemy to sleep; 4 MP)? The same applies to Ariel's/Alec's skill "Cure" (cures a party member's status ailments; 1 MP; learned when reaching level 23/28) in relation to her/his skill "Detoxify" (cures poison for one person; 2 MP).

Despite being a single-target spell, the description of Ariel's skill "Cold Stone" creates the impression that it's a multi-target spell.

When employed on living party members, the skill "Vivify" (only) works as a weak healing spell, which strikes me as odd.

The Crystal Ring, which is supposed to prevent all status ailments, doesn't prevent instant death (although the Crystal Shield prevents instant death, but there seems to be only one throughout the entire game).

The sign in the first town reads "Mazor", but isn't the town's name "Mazer"? Or is it "Mazar" like in Fable of Heroes II?

The priest in Mazer can also be talked to by "talking" to the cross from the left or right side.

The old guy in Vael (inn) takes all Essences of Fire, even though he only needs 10. Fortunately, I saved beforehand, so I could reload and sell excess Essences of Fire for 125 Gold each before completing the side quest.

Saroh church: There's a horizontal tile line that isn't solid. Thus, the church can be entered from behind. Other obstruction mapping mistakes include dragon statues and cross-shaped wall dents in dungeons.

While it doesn't matter in the end, the party shouldn't be able to ask Oldrich about the Seed of Evil before having spoken to the king after the rescue of the princess.

Tac and Mika solo part in the final dungeon: When the player backtracks via the stairs after having defeated Gustave and then returns, Gustave's light (the parting gift that should be inside Mika) now rests on his throne.
I am having problems finding a run time package. I tried downloading RPG maker 2000 but windows 10 does not support it. Anyone have any advice on what I should do?
I can offer you the following direct download link to the RPG Maker 2000 RTP 1.0:

http://dl.4players.de/pub/4players/hosted/rpg2000/rpgmaker/RTPE.EXE

You might also need to install this RTP add-on after you've installed RTP 1.0:

http://dl.4players.de/pub/4players/hosted/rpg2000/rpgmaker/RTP132e.exe

Both are from a German site, but you should be able to install them nonetheless. Let me know if this works. I have both installed and the game worked fine for me.

Hello, I want to play this game but it said I need to have RTPe.exe
Is there anyone know where I can download it?
Edit : I already download it, now I can play it :D
I don't know why this got three stars, it should have been at least 4. I changed a couple things that made less sense to me because it's very Dragon Quest in it's nature, like a couple sounds and how to vocab is working in the game and now it's like an actual DQ inspired game!! Wow. Like in DQ, it says that HP's are decreasing and a couple rewording of things. And for the heck of it, when I slammed some shadows underneath the monsters, it makes it even MORE SNES in feel. This actually helped A LOT. It's quite good so far, though the Krakken is really difficult. I just got the scarab parts and trying to get through that portion of the pyramid. I'm surprised by this game. I also made an item in the game that changes the appearance of the system, and I made ROYGBIV colored systems that you can change via using the System Options item. Also, I think I found a bug or something weird, when you're in the 'fire cave' how are you supposed to get down that hole? some funky variable thing I had to do use the F8 command to change the variable to make it work. (What's going on with that?) I dunno if you would want to do this, but maybe adding "Save Stones" or "Save Amulets" that let you save your game easier. There's never a way to save especially if you're far in somewhere :< ARGH I guess that's the challenge!!
I dunno if you missed this, but I dunno what was going on with the switches in the lava cavern with Master Infernos and Decia, it looked like a variable had to be added to 2 to jump down a hole, and I couldn't figure out how to fix that. 0_0 Deep breath and dark breath was hard!!! :O Very inventive! What's going on here?? This game needs a guide too because I'm running around around the east everywhere to find Eric's Sword, and the gas for the airship. Where are they? Argh. And I was also having a hard time finding the ancient key. Things you might want to check again, maybe I downloaded an old version by accident? Dunno.

The shadows I did definitely helped a lot and I made gradient systems to make it look sick!!! I spent a lot of just more than half of a day just fixing graphics, I made the Demon King's graphic cleaner too, it seemed like it had weird jagged pixelly edges to it, weird off-pixels, etc. It was a weird picture to begin with. (Art School!!) Oh yeah, and I did make a splash screen/intro screen before the title screen appears for you (and your team) and myself, bc I was doing some graphical work!! This also might be a technical thing, but RM2000 doesn't use magic reflection which sucks, but it can do MP recovery. In my edit, I made a "REGAIN" spell that recovers 31 MP. That's "less" Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest ish but, it does help in certain areas, especially, since there's not too many MP recovery items, dunno if you may want to make a RASP spell for MP damaging. That's up to you. That would make it more Final Fantasy :O

Oh shiz I forgot, I also made it, that when an ally is dead, their Faceset turns Black and White, done with a conditional branch. The coffin is cool on the world maps but I thought, well, if they're "dead" then why isn't their Faceset "less colorful"? I did that. I also got some more DQ backgrounds for the game, too. It looks SICK!

Also, why doesn't this game have a guide? I am somewhat stuck on finding certain things. Whaiihahaihai :O :<
