Over 100 downloads! + Release Something! '11

Wow.

TCS did get to 100 downloads by 1st Dec after all -in fact, at the time of writing, it has been downloaded 122 times! Hooray!

In celebration of this fact, and in conjunction with Release Something! 2011, I am releasing a small amount of new content. I don't have much to show as I've been racing to finish off the dialogue and maps for Chapter Two so I can finish actually coding it, but I do have the following...

***

FOR RELEASE SOMETHING 2011:

-A new character for the character page
-A new teaser screenie
-A side project I made earlier this year: http://rpgmaker.net/games/3652/
-I also wrote a review for an old game called Sunset over Imdahl, but then discovered it's not hosted on rpgmaker.net! Darn it.

***

In other news, kumada has also pointed out to me that the charas-project.net spritemaker which I'd accidentally left in the Chapter 1 download folder was dodgy (see this thread). I have since got rid of the offending file and reuploaded the download, but if you were one of the 122 people who downloaded it, I suggest you delete the Charas.EX file folder inside it, and do a security scan of your computer.

Hopefully, lots more will follow for Christmas. Happy Advent everyone!

Anyone care to review TCS Chapter One?

So, The Cerebral Symphony has had -at the time of writing- 88 downloads. If it gets to 100 I will release some new content in celebration! I'm already signed up for Release Something 11 so let's see if it happens by then!

In the meantime, would any of those 88 downloaders, or someone new, like to give it a review?

A couple of people have said they would, but it seems they have busy lives (understandably). I may try and write a review or two of my own for others to try to get the ball rolling...

If you haven't played it yet and are a keen reviewer, give it a try here -it's only about an hour long, moves quickly, and not too difficult. Check out Creation's LP if you want a little taster:

Thanks!

Chapter One OUT NOW!

Chapter One of the game is now out in demo form.

DISCLAIMER: The only reason it's called a demo is because I've had to release it in advance of a few tidyups because I'm going to Africa tomorrow and wanted to get it out before then. As a result a few areas will not be accessible and the final area is not entirely finished -just to talk the dancer in the middle of the dance floor to trigger the final cutscene.

Comments, reviews, insults, jokes, discussion, bug reports, fan mail welcome.

Features:

-Introductions to our first two protagonists: Luke the multiple-personalitied telekinetic and Naomi the ADHD werewolf!
-A compelling story and entertaining dialogue (subject to subjectivity)!
-Two introductory missions, ransacking a temple and infiltrating an observation tower as a spy!
-A visit to each of the hub city's main factions: The Corporation, The Government and the Mafia, and an explanation of their interrelationships!
-A short stealth minigame!
-A fully functioning MULTIPLE PERSONALITY SYSTEM(TM)!
-About one hour of play-time!

Chapter One Out Next Month!

So, I've been making (slow) progress on this project since I picked it up again.

I'm planning to release a demo in August, basically featuring Chapter One of the game but without some of the extra bells and whistles I hope the finished version will have. I've uploaded a load of new screenshots in the Images section for you to see whether you might like to play The Cerebral Symphony Chapter One when it comes out...

Take a look at the screenshots and let me know what you think :)

The Beginning

So here we go. I'm going to start working on this game again, for the first time properly since I was a teenager. I have a full-time job and I can't give TOO much time to it. But I'm going to aim for on average an evening a week, as a way of relaxing and keeping my creative juices flowing while I wait on trying to publish my first novel. I don't expect anyone to read this, and that's okay. It would be fun to look back and see the chronicle of its completion though, if I do see it through. I'm giving myself a rough time limit of four years, so I'm here for the long haul.

-Finished Naomi's Corporation data file.
-Figured out and started coding her Government Operations Tower infiltration, her first mission, kicking off with a simple Zelda-style stealth entry.
*Idea. Introduce a choice into the start of Luke's first scene.
*Rename chapter 1 "Life on the Edge".
*Edit out swear words from adolescent gamemaking days.
