Yeah, a little bit. But the background and sprite are interchangeable, so it might just be a bad combination.
Still don't find the surrealism, maybe as Star Skippin was saying, you are hiding something big. By the way its look that its going to be a hell of game, I can't wait to play it.
This seems pretty vibrant and colorful unlike the other screenshots posted of this project so far. As in, it doesn't seem very coherent!
I think removing the background altogether would be better than the background currently in place. Definitely need to consider perspective in a case like this.

Either that or altering the background such that you can't tell the perspective is off. ie, no cliffs and whatnot.
Anyhow, the art team is busy making backgrounds that aren't pulled directly from existing maps.

The battles were tough! But the card system worked pretty well after I finally understood it.

Haha, yeah. It helps if you've played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Touhou Immaterial and Missing Power. Or any touhou game.
