In the dream of a child stands an ancient manor filled with forsaken fancies and empty memories. Mysterious yet familiar to the child that wanders the lifeless house. What lies at the start of waking? Is this truly a dream? A memory? An illusion or reality?

This project contains the compiled maps from the Manor Mapping Madness collaboration. The aim of this project was to create a room with atmosphere - whether it be spooky, dream-like or creepy is up to the map maker.

Bug Update

There's a bug in the new version which makes it impossible to pass. I'm not sure exactly how it happened but a variable was changed and broke the event to get the sun key. I've since fixed the map but there's a few small bits and pieces I've been meaning to fix as well and I'd like to get them done before I upload the (here's hoping) absolute version.

Just unzip and paste the Map0005 and Map0043 files in with the rest of the maps (in the game folder). That should fix it up for now.

If you run into any more bugs, just leave a comment under this blog and I'll add it to the list for fixing and update the patch above.

Quick Update: Added another map to the patch (in downloads section). Apparently one of the switches had been deleted in the end event, leading to the game not being able to be finished. No idea how that came to pass but it's fixed now. Thankfully.

It's a tough game! Pretty spooky stuff. Love the attic and the "There is no God" room. There is a graphical anomaly when entering the sex dungeon, and the right statue down there (by the mirror) has a random "move hero speed up" trigger.
And how do you save it? Nine wasn't doing anything for me.

I forget which room it was, but I noticed my character speed was slowed down. I think the room after it was a hallway, though, if that helps. Probably not.

The children's room was pretty awesome/creepy, though.
I'm lost so I think I'll just wait for the walkthrough lol. Surprised how everything flowed together so well.

Also, my walk speed is permanently slowed at one point. And the fountain moves before I even do the statues - when I read the second hint.
;.;
I'll look at it.
Okay, I can't seem to pinpoint the speed down issue, I'll keep looking though. (If anyone finds it or figures which room does it, let me know~)

I've fixed a few things like the puzzle and the Is No God issue, too.
Woo, Completion. I'm getting it now!!!

EDIT:
It's cool but I got slowed down when I went into the room with the pressed flowers in the frame.

I was room-hunting for the speed-down I found, and I found it again. From the main hall, it's on the second floor, top-most door along the right wall. I think this is the self-same room Marcus is talking about.

It's very cool. I like how every room has its own personality but they all work well together. It doesn't feel like a patchwork mess.
Well, I encountered some bugs, but none of them were game-breaking ones.
Just in case... I'll leave them in a spoiler, with a...
GREAT RED SPOILER WARNING

1. The water bowls cutscene didn't showed up to me. I saw it with the previous demo though (but that one gets one stuck after the "There's no God" phrase, so...).

2. I entered the chapel without even getting to touch the statues. I just interacted with the middle tablet and the stairs showed up (I did the chapel stuff, and then though "wait, what about those tablets??" and continued with the maze, and then got the last scene).

3. Tile properties problems. The cracks that appear at the Children's room, and the "ceiling tile" at the dungeon (those tile that use the square mark). With the square mark is easy, just put some events with "character priority" here and there and done! As for the cracks, maybe check the chipset properties, or their event properties if they were... events.

And you should name yourself zzLiberty, for the credits to be properly ordered alphabetically (J/K).

I enjoyed it C:!!.

Edit: BTW, I want to get this out of my chest: "The Here and Now of Noterday". Damn Earthbound x'D.
^.^;

With the credits, I'd put everyone's names in then realised I'd forgotten someone... XD

Thanks for pointing out those bugs. I'll get onto them. (I'm not sure which version you downloaded, though so I'm not sure if it's the version with the 'fixed' statues or not. >.<; ) Did you download it yesterday?

Did you download it yesterday?
Yep. I downloaded one the first day, then the other the next day, because I already knew about the "There's no God" bug (THANOY.rar and THANOY_1.rar).
Here's few bugs I found when playing.

1. Both of the table lamps north in the solarium increases your speed.
2. Entering Demi's Bedroom map slows down your speed.
3. The huge garden area:
_A. The secret passage in the garden(as brought up) was available from the start.
_B. Sometime when pulling the levers, the zombies died. Although all were pile of bones, one was still moving around.
4. In the kitchen when you encounter the ghost woman I don't know what's meant to be played,
but I only get a millisecond of a screech sound.
5. In my Large Storage:
_A. The phantom at the door should appear when the variable hits 3, not 10.
_B. You should be able to walk behind the upper part of boxes that are to the left of the cross.
Also, not be able to walk under the small table to the left of the lantern.
6. The biggest area of the dungeon maps seems slow, and I don't mean the walk-speed.
Alrighty, here are my impressions:

I wasn't too bothered by lighting inconsistencies given the dreamscape context. I thought everything flowed together well, and almost all the rooms had some form of interactivity. I particularly enjoyed Gibmaker's, Happy's, Demi's and Merlinman's maps.

Gibmaker's bathroom blew my mind with the amazing water effects. I said god damn.
Demi's map was the most disturbing (dat video).
Happy's map had that nasty face pic flash up randomly which caught me off guard.
I was pleasantly surprised at how similar Merlinman's map was to mine with the idea of having 2 different versions of our rooms. Great music selection.

Aside from the already fixed "no god room" bug,

I found that the right lamp in the solarium increases movement speed
The journal in the chapel's hidden cellar room cannot be read due to tile passability
I don't know if it's just me but the main dungeon map lags like hell for me. Possibly a parallel process/loop issue
I don't get any music in the garden maze. Looking in the editor it appears the file ff8train is missing?

Overall, nicely done.
