This release contains the short game, only. REQUIRES the RPG Maker VX RTP.

-GETTING THE GAME STARTED-

* I have actually forgotten if you need to install the Trinigan font or if just having it in the folder is enough. I guess maybe install it, just to be on the safe side?

* IMPORTANT! Take the following steps to get the game to work properly.
0. Unzip the .rar archive you found this document in.
1. Run the self-extracting executable called Journeyman Demo.
2. Place the folder called Graphics inside the folder called Journeyman Demo. Voila, done! The game should now work beautifully, except for the minor problems outlined below in the Known & Confirmed Bugs section.

-HINTS & TIPS-

(Survival)
* This game lets you save anywhere and anywhen. There is no penalty for doing so.
* Your survival rate in any given area is very closely linked to your equipment. Let me break this down a bit further. These are NOT hard and fast rules. I know that being creative and thinking outside the box (using Monster Repellent cleverly to break the armor sequence, building as a caster and relying on spells and/or potions more than equipment) it's possible to ignore this advice and still win. But for your CONVENIENCE here are some SUGGESTIONS--keep in mind that having the minimum armor isn't a guarantee you won't die. Your weapon, your level, and the spells and items you have access to all matter as well.

Keep in mind that IGNORING THESE SUGGESTIONS MIGHT MAKE THE GAME MORE FUN FOR YOU. These are just suggestions, to do with as you please. : )

i. Before going OUT OF LENNISGROVE, make sure to have at least FULL PADDED equipped. If you have a shield or a quarterstaff, you can probably get away with partial padded.

ii. Before going into the FIRST LEVEL of Bloodgully Mine, make sure to have at FULL LEATHER equipped. If you have a shield, you can probably get away with partial leather and part-padded.

iii. Before going down to the THIRD LEVEL of Bloodgully Mine, make sure to have at least FULL STUDDED LEATHER equipped--if you have a shield, you can probably get away with partial studded and part-non-studded leather.

iv. The DEPTHS of Bloodgully Mine are extraordinarily dangerous. If you're not a little bit hardcore, don't even try it. In the final version, naturally, there will be equipment and spells that makes this section less brutal--and sections that make this one seem like a cakewalk in comparison. But the depths are extremely scary in the current game. There is great treasure to be found, though, for the brave of heart.

(Note that Studded Leather is where the armor progression ceases to be simply linear. Iron Chain and Iron Plate offer increasingly better defense than Studded, true, but they also have proportionally increasing drawbacks. You will have to decide if you want to build for Evasion, for DEF, or to split the difference between the two. Keep an eye on your DEX--it effects your hit rate, critical rate, and Evasion, and heavier weapons and armor will cripple it, especially if you're combining a big two-handed weapon with heavy iron armor.)

(Accessing Workshops)
While there are certainly ways to figure out these things for yourself in the game, just in case, here is how to open each shop/workshop that doesn't start open.

Kitchen- This now starts open.
Alchemist's Shop- This is a two-parter. First you need to have Alchemy Level 1 and the door will open. Then you need to complete a minor quest from Hannah. Remember that three out of four functions of the alchemy shop have no special cost/reqirement to use. Only the alchemy LAB requires components to use.
Armor Shop- This opens automatically once you have a pelt or a hide in your inventory; you can currently get pelts/hides from butchering wildhogs, wolves, and (good luck :P) bears.
Weapon Shop- This is another two-parter. It opens automatically once you smelt your first iron ingot using the smelter in, but you will need to have Smith Level 1 to persuade Baldrik to let you use it after that. (Remember that you can also make weapons using the carpenter's workshop, and the fletcher's/bowyer's workshop before then.)
Arcanist's Circle- I think I'll let you guys figure this one out by yourself, but look for someone in your home town of Lennisgrove that sort of "stands out".

-KNOWN & CONFIRMED BUGS-

These are the bugs that have been able to be confirmed independently by myself and at least two testers. (As a general warning, I added some new scripts VERY SHORTLY before the release. There's an outside possibility that these may have broken something NEW, so let me know.)

(Minor)
* Not really a bug, but I had to remove this feature BECAUSE of a bug. In the final version, drinking water from a jar should return the empty jar to your inventory. In this version the jar is consumed along with the water, and you don't get your jar back.
* Assorted typos probably still exist.

(Major)
* When transitioning from the Game Over screen to the title screen, the game SOMETIMES (not always, but not seldom) crashes. This will probably happen more often if you are playing on a laptop than on a desktop, basically its incidence seems to be inversely proportional to your processor's power. I believe the cause may be undisposed windows, and I'm looking into it. In the mean time, see the Hints & Tips

-FEATURES NOT YET IMPLEMENTED-

The following things will definitely appear in the full game, but are not yet represented here:

* Enchanting.
* Weather System
* 7+ More Locations (3 More Towns, 4 More Dungeons).
* This version includes only 30% of the game's total components, items, weapons, and armor.
* Normal Game Mode and Story.
* Epic Game Mode and Story.
