Gensokyo...a land full of long forgotten creatures and magic. Many a day has gone peacefully in this land separated from the outside world, until one day a mystical artifact known as the Pandora's Box arrives and begins to wreck havoc across the land. If not stopped, then all shall be returned to nothingness. Join Reimu and her friends on a quest to defeat the entities of the Pandora's Box and save their beloved land from the forces of chaos!

This game follows a style similarly to the Final Fantasy series, incorporating a vast amount of abilities, monsters, and ideas from the Final Fantasy universe, while still retaining the Touhou nature of the main series. Various aspects of the Final Fantasy series incorporated into the game includes the Blue Magic system, Gil Toss, Scan, Steal, and Chakra in-battle, a Skill System similar to that found in Final Fantasy II, and the characters playing roles similar to various classes in the Final Fantasy series such as the Black Mage and Knight. However, this game also incorporates ideas from various other series, including Legend of Zelda, Valkyrie Profile, and Super Mario RPG. Players can control up to 4 characters at a time in any given battle, but can have access to as many as 30 playable characters, several of which are optional.

Final Update!!

Howdy all! So, it's been a good long while since I last posted, but at long last, I do believe the game is now finished! 99.99% done, at least, there's still a couple things that I haven't been ABLE to do (still looking for a spriter for a character), and there might still be bugs and glitches here and there, but overall, the game is actually done after nearly 12 years in the works!

Main file: https://rpgmaker.net/games/3758/downloads/10309/
Music: https://rpgmaker.net/games/3758/downloads/10310/

As usual, anyone that is willing to testrun the game for bugs and glitches, feedback, etc. would be highly welcomed! But for now, I will consider the game "DONE". Which...in a way, kinda makes me both very happy and very sad...I don't know how to feel overall.

Hi, back again. Um, this time, there is a bug right after you defeat Alice in Pandemonium. After Medicine's first bar of dialogue, the next one doesn't show up. The screen is fine, and the music is still playing
Hm?? What do you mean it doesn't show up?? Does the scene still play out as normal? Is it frozen? I need more detail.
Hm, okay. I'll start by explaining what I was doing/did before. So, after the scene with Marisa waking up ended, I went and saved the game. Upon exiting the room, I fought with the dolls that are outside. With my party as strong as they are currently, (Momiji in particular being level 74 at the time) they were easily dispatched.

Then I ran into the Goliath Doll.

After maybe five minutes of desperate scrambling, I figured out a strategy with Hope's Starlight Barrier and Momiji's provoke. The battle was a joke after that, but I wound up using all of my party's MP on just that one fight. Something that hasn't happened in awhile.

It made me a little nervous about the next boss battle, so I went and replaced Yuuka with Sanae, who has MP healing skills to supplement Hope and Marisa, both of whom have pretty Mana intensive skills.

This is what I think caused the following, or at least the most likely candidate. A bug occurred when I defeated Alice. When Medicine activated her trap and began gloating, she walked into view.

There were no dialogue boxes after that, even though the music played normally, so I'm reasonably sure the game didn't freeze.

Currently, I'm in the process of trying to proceed to the boss battle with Yuuka instead of Sanae, to test if it goes through or not.

UPDATE:

Okay, so I just played through the battle again, and beat Alice and whatnot. The result didn't change, the next dialogue box is still absent. This occurs right after Remilia says: You.
Hm...so in other words, the scene doesn't continue on?? Or it just continues on but without anymore textboxes??

EDIT - Try the current version. Just uploaded it, I spotted a "Proceed with Movement" line in there right after the line you just mentioned, that might be what's causing it. Let me know if there's anymore issues with that scene, or anything else. For anyone else that's currently playing the game, do note that I'm not done updating Eientei 2 yet, still trying to update chests and shops atm.
Hey me again.

Sooo, good news and bad news.

Good news: The scene progresses now, and I just got to the part where Yameme walked in.

Bad news: The same problem occured. Right after Yamame says her second line, she the next dialogue box does not show up T-T
Ok...there were a LOT of Proceed with Movement events in there. Hopefully I got them all, so try it again. I apologize that you have to keep fighting that Alice fight due to this...T-T
Same old bug, same old place.

This time it occurred when Medicine said she was told to take care of the doll maker.

Sorry that it took so long to get back to this. I was working on some applications that took up a lot of my time.
Fff....there were two more Proceed with Movement events in that script. I hope I got them now....the update is now up. This also means that some changes have been done to the game in terms of equipment and chest contents, as well as new chests being added in in various areas of the game. Of course...if you're already that far in the game, you probably won't have the chance to get some of the equipment that replaced some chests...not much I can do about that though sadly. ^^;;

The update is the same download link as before, on the Download page. Hopefully this time it'll let you get past this scene >_>;;;
congrats on finishing your game, i discovered one bug that sounds like it could be important

the doll on magic forest - hard path is not added to your inventory
...Amazing. So THAT is where that dumb Barrier Key that I couldn't find kept popping up at!! It was THAT specific doll this entire time!? Thanks to you, that problem has now been solved! And main file has been updated (yeah, it was kinda important as it was needed for a specific thing).
is there a storyline trigger before the NPC outside of Alice's house can trade dolls?

she spoke to me one time about exchanging, but i haven't been able to speak to her afterwards (and exchange some of the dolls i have)

fun game so far, finally running a full party after completing the mansion's library
You need to have a specific number of dolls before you can trade I believe. I may have to doublecheck to make sure I didn't screw something up with the coding, should be able to trade in at least 3 dolls right now. >_<
Reuploaded. Give it a try and see if it works as intended, it should I hope...
thanks that solved it

is there a trick to get through eientei? the door at the end is looping through the whole corridor again, and i have investigated all the rooms - not sure if i'm missing something
Yeah, figured that was the case. The variable for Maribel wasn't set right (for every 2 dolls you trade in, it increases that by 1 to the next trade-in item. Here, her variable was already at 1 when there was nothing that PUT it at 1, so I had to put it at 0). It didn't give you anymore rewards than the amount of dolls you had, right? So if you had say...7 dolls, then it should have only gave you 3 rewards (1 for every 2, so 3 for 6 dolls)? If it gave you all the rewards or something, or if it repeats the rewards, then I screwed up somehow.

There's a kinda subtle clue in there as to where you NEED to go. Remember, (IIRC) Reisen says that the place is full of illusions and whatnot, so can't trust immediately what you see all the time.
Cool. Made it out of eientei, got Sakura as a party member - where I am supposed to go now?

I can fight Alice + Marisa at the shrine, which doesn't seem winnable yet. I thought Sakuya was going to sneak back into eienei but the entrance is guarded.
Yeah, you're not supposed to be able to win that fight, but the story is supposed to still progress once you lose. Is it not??
oh i see, it's working, i had restarted my game once it was obvious i was going to lose - i thought it was a side quest i was too weak/early for
If you notice that it SEEMS like it's impossible to win, 90% of the time that means either A) You have to survive long enough, or B) You have to lose. Some FF games like to do both types. Not that OFTEN, mind you, but it is a thing that does happen.
I think you forgot to remove some messages. The forest to the west of the hakurei shrine saws that it is under construction and the skill books to the right in the human village says the same thing. Also there apears to be a fairy inside a wall in the scarlet mainsion, second floor right hall. Is there a secret wall there or did you it there by accident? Also there is a weird character standing in the bottom left of the shrine when you start the game. Is it supposed to be there? It looks like a character that waiting for a trigger in a cutscene.
