Just hope, as a player, you never see this ability in action. :P

We're all be dead? And all saves will be wiped out?

Also, those Limit gauges look weird: should they always charge from right to left in that case? If you're going with them being placed on the right? Or are you're planning on the Limit gauge segment to be unlocked gradually and so the segments will move to the left as you'll be adding the new segments on their right?

They don't charge from right to left and there is no unlocking involved. Where did you get that idea from?
The Limit gauge looks really weird IMO and that's how I get these ideas.
"Weird" as in "it seems it's gonna be three segments, but there aren't, and why does the segment charges in a really weird way"?
It charges the same way it does by default in Ace, left to right. How is that weird?
Okay, I think I see what noel means. It kind of looks looks like the ATB gauge is part of the limit bar on first glance:

And if that's what he means, I'd have to agree with him on that. Perhaps splitting the bars with the word 'ATB' will make it less confusing.
Meh, in motion, it's not at all confusing (or the same color). I think I mentioned in an earlier blog post that the HUD was still lacking some graphical elements because it's difficult to alter the Z layer of an image WITHIN a window (which is how this is displayed). If I do it differently, like, say, showing a sprite of the HUD in the scene itself, I can do layering easily, BUT, it would also show the HUD for all four members, even without a full party. That would look... dumb, I think.

In short, I'm still working on it (and everything else :D).
I'm no scripter, and if this sounds stupid tell me, but would it be possible to event something like "ATB" in there, and only have it come up as needed for x amount of party members? Like say a Common Event, and you make an ATB graphic and put it in Pictures, and upon setting the Turn to 0 under Troop events it'll run this Common Event where it's set as a Conditional Branch that this ATB graphic will be displayed as a picture when a certain party member is in the party (and in #1, #2, #3, and #4 battle positions) and you'll be able to place the graphic wherever you like with the coordinates (and since it's a picture its Z layer will be set to display over the HUD window). And then you just make a Conditional Branch for each party member and whether they're in #1, #2, #3, or #4 battle position and the ATB picture is moved accordingly to those coordinates (and of course the pictures would be set as 1, 2, 3, etc. for each character).

I don't know if that made much sense, or if it's even remotely what you'd like to do, but yeah. =)

Wouldn't really work (the way the battle scene displays stuff is so complicated for no reason). Plus, adding a battle event just for that, to what will probably be about 1,000+ enemy troop setups? Yeeeeeeesh.

I am looking into a simple way to adjust what I need. I have an actual overlay ready to use (the HUD as it is now is one image, per party member, but the end result will likely be two or more). It might take a little rewrite on how things are displayed inside windows. Right now, priority is falling on battle and event stuff, less so the graphical stuff.

For instance, this battle... ooh boy. This is a hard one. Take all of the things in all of the Final Fantasy games that made Odin a challenge and combine them. It isn't shown here because of the animation, but this fight is on a timer, like the battle against him in FFV/FFVIII. If the party takes too long, they're dead.

However, instead of sitting around dropping the rare attack or Thundara like he does in FFIV, he fights back. Ferociously. His ability set combines a lot of his special attacks from FFXIII and FFXIV. Once his HP is depleted to 25%, he will stop attacking and instead start charging Shin Zantetsuken. If the player doesn't beat him by the time the ability is charged (or the timer runs out), it's back to the title screen for them.

Oh, and because of how our version of Odin is designed, magick does not work on him. It is meant to be a physical vs. physical fight.

P.S. I am looking for some video recording software that doesn't suck, as my copy of Camtasia has blown up in my face. I would really love to put up a video of this battle. If anyone knows of something free that doesn't suck (i.e. NOT fraps), please let me know!

Oh wow yeah, that's definitely insanit-ay for over a 1000 troops. Yeeesh...yeah no lol. Sorry, had no idea it was that many. XD As for a good free video recording software? How about OBS? It records full HD and 60fps if you desire. Very easy to setup and use.
