Nearly a century on from Emelgen's collapse, the people of Arenova are living on a knife's edge.

A virus is slowly picking people off one by one, its spread shown in the horrific transformations of those infected. Those who step forward to help are either worn down, killed, or turn themselves -- with the government turning a blind eye to the people in need, blaming the spread on the people themselves.

Kind hearts are left bitter and cold, too many deaths and cruel choices on their shoulders.

It is into this world that Void, a young man with extraordinary elemental powers and amnesia, is thrust into head first. With the world on the brink, a heart like his may be the awaited ember to set the tinderbox alight and ignite the fires of revolution.

A story-driven RPG set against a biopunk city backdrop, how much you invest in the game is up to you. If you take the time to unravel its secrets, it will reward you...and if you don't, you'll still find a fun, if more shallow, experience.

So, as I said I was aiming toward a 10th release for a demo, but predictably life got in the way. Don't say I didn't say it would, because I did, because it always does.

So, despite this I have been working pretty hard at the project. I've posted a few screens to show this. Essentially a number of sprites are completed and the resources to make many more are in the works, so the maps are slowly being repopulated with better sprites.

As for the battle system, I actually started making progress on it over the last week. It was essentially non-functioning (especially as I had a Turn 0 event and Octo doesn't like it). I've made progress as shown between the two screens below:



I think I'm going to aim toward the original battle HUD I designed for REE, way back in 14 or so:



which is far more doable in the game's present state than it was in the RMVXA version.

I'm also working on bust redraws as all main characters have been redesigned, as well as a number of later gameplay flow options. I have succeeded in my paltry goal of getting the opening until the base playable all the way through with nothing exploding, so there's that at least.

What progress I've made will slow down when I return to work on Thursday, which I'll try to work through but no promises. It's not really work that kills my motivation as it is, but I waffled about it enough in my last blog.

This is a wonderful diversion. I enjoyed learning the battle system used here, and I know there are a few tricks I haven't realized yet. However, I'm sorry to hear that this is all there is. The story could definitely be slowed down and filled in, making it more coherent. But I know that won't happen as the game is almost finished. What I will ask, then, is will there be a sequel? I want to be the monster that is still human in this world. I want to see the crew learn the truth behind the virus and the battle lines become blurred. I want to know what the mental difference is between those who've turned and those who haven't.
And as a further request, can that little girl from the hospital be part of it?

Kragak, although I don't really intend on making a sequel, the content in the final version pretty much follows up on what you want to know about the world.

Essentially, the Hospital scene, both in the version I'm working on and the current release, is the turning point for the rest of the game.

I'm rather hesitant about broadening ReEvolution because its roots lie in places they probably shouldn't and this will become more obvious the more expansive the game gets. I've tried to keep it as subtle as possible, and people with a good eye and who know me well will catch it if they're attentive, but it's very touch and go.

The game its interesting and well made, I liked it a lot can't wait to see how it continues ^^

Glad you enjoyed it!

I've been working pretty actively on it, so hopefully we'll see the complete version by April some time.
