I've stopped production on this game, so it is now, officially cancelled.

You will need the VX RTP to run this game:
http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/additional/run-time-packages

To install:

First, make a new folder, and call it Tristian: LoTL.
Put the compressed download into that folder as well as the Audio folder and extract like normal with WinRAR or WinZip.
Install the fonts included if you don't have them yet.

Basic Controls:

Apart from the usual arrow/directional keys:

Alt + Enter - Toggle Full Screen mode
Enter/Spacebar/Z/ - Action key
Esc/X - Main Menu/Cancel an interaction
Shift - Sprint
Left Shift + Z = Pull an object towards you ( like a crate or boulder )

out the door

13 days before I am supposed to 'celebrate' being on this site for 7 years, i've decided to leave rmn as well. having grown uncomfortable with the circle-jerkers ( aka the devs whose games get the most attention and all their friends ) and the few rotten apples here, it's simply become an unhealthy place for me to hang around.

while i won't be posting here anymore, i'd like to stay in contact with some of the members here by ways of building an e-mail list ( yes, it's a little different from the usual chatrooms like discord/skype, but i see them as massive timesinks. i never get anything done ) informing subscribers about my future projects. so... if you're interested, drop me a pm and we'll see where the road takes us. the simple gesture would mean a lot to me, because it shows that some of you still care. who knows? maybe you'll get a surprise or two.

maybe.

maybe some of you hate me for broken promises i couldn't keep, maybe some of you lost your respect for me because I couldn't keep doing what I loved to do. or maybe some people just hated on Enelysion because it became popular...

who knows? it doesn't matter anyway.
i'm going to keep on being a creative workaholic.

So long, and keep gaming
i was always too serious for this place, anyway

Like I'll open up the editor, do nothing for half an hour, become dispirited and close it down.

Welcome to my world (at least for some of the times)...

But yeah, no worries, Luchi! You just take all the time that you need to go play some games and refine even more of that wonderful art skill of yours and we’ll all be waiting for you to come back to this with open arms. Besides, everyone deserves a break once and a while, even such hard workers like you, so no worries. Just come back to this when you're feeling ready. :)
Oh, I won't be gone from the site, just taking a bit of a break from gam-mak. But I AM thinking of re-introducing that JP ( Job Point ) system from the early versions of Enelysion into LoTL ( i.o.w, players could choose what skills they wanted to learn after acquiring JP when defeating foes in battle as well as give the player the ability to choose various Passive abilites ). I want to give the player more flexibility than just customising stats with AP ( Ability Points ) and Crysalis'. If I could find Yanfly's Class-Change script, I'd probably implement that as well.

As for now, break time. =)
Luchino, I really admire your mapping skills and just overall the graphics in your game. I can't wait to see the completed project!

Yay! It's back in production!
Figured I needed a short break. Ironically, I actually ended up getting more work done while on Hiatus ( even if that Hiatus was pretty... brief ).

:DDDDD <3<3<3 Welcome back! ^_^
Placeholder art. Can you guess what he is saying?

Something in Simmish? :p
Placeholder art. Can you guess what he is saying?

Something along the lines of "The next time you fail will be the last!", I'll bet. Runner up guess is "As soon as we have (needed item), the (ambition) will be within our grasp!"

My third guess would be a cat got on the keyboard and you left it.

Bringer of Darkness, oppressor of Riga, smite my foe.

Seriously people did none of you ever learn to write mirror text? (well mirror and jumble in this case).

Also Luchi a demo from the beginning is my preferred type, as long as you give it and en of chapter ending feel.

You got everything except the name right. XD But it is partly my fault for capitalising the R, so someone would read it as 'Riga' and not 'Argi'. Who is Tristy's ancestor, of course.

As for a cliff-hanger ending demo, well, that will be easy. I do like leaving you people on the edge, after all. ^^

Oh wow! I played through the demo. This was something really special! I totally have a huge case of the warm fuzzies and I'll be smiling for the rest of the evening! :DDDDDD

I found only one error, and it's pretty small:

This certainly didn't disappoint! Thank you, Luchino, and I can't wait to play more :DDDDDDDD

where is the download of this

Scroll to the top of the page and click the gray "download now" button.
@unity: Naturally, you'd get feels from it. XD

I don't know if I should request a review for this ( since it's only half an hour long ) but some feedback would be nice. =) And given that the old rating is from the December 2013 demo too.

It's a pity I can't lock my graphics folder ( even if I did encrypt the game, there are ways to break it ). I've already seen people using Enelysion's tileset for their VXAce games, and some of the stuff there is mine. :\ I put a lot of work ( months at that ) into Tristian's tilesets and sprites, and definitely won't appreciate someone ripping off my work. Because those kind of shadesters do exist.
What about using something like Molebox to encrypt your game’s files. It may not stop everyone from stealing your work, but it might stop a few of them at least. I used it for a little while and it’s quite good. The only downside to it is that it’s pretty expensive. It used to be something like $49 for three years and now it’s only a year for like $80 with a subscription. Ouch.

- And is my review the only one still there from way back? Ha.

You could also encrypt them anyway, which I know you don't like to do for your games. I know that there are decrypters out there, but at least it might stop the casual thieves. That and add a text file in the download folder stating your opinion on their use. I don't know if you are ok with them being used by others as long as credit is given, or if you don't want them to be used at all, so you may want to make that known too. I mean Enelysion was unencrypted and you made no secret of the fact you didn't have an issue with anyone seeing what was in it. Some may have read that as you had no problem with people using what was in there for their own projects, too.
I don't know why it bothers me. I find it grating, for some reason. After all, I don't own the rights to that tile set in the first place. Maybe it's because some games are starting to look too... similar, if you get my drift. That's why I went all custom for Tristian. But don't mind me, I'm just rambling.

Anyway, I do have an even bigger obstacle now, and that's to finish this game. =) I'll probably take my time with it though ( I was really depro after I finished Enelysion ). I don't want to end my journey with Tristian and co. any time soon.

You can ramble all you like, and whilst yes Enelysion wasn't rights protected, Tristian is all your own work so it's your call as to how you want those graphics to be used.

Since I really adored the look of Enelysion I never have an issue seeing something similar elsewhere, as long as it's done well, but I can understand your frustration.
Tristy's stuff is mine, all mine. >:D My right hand is near-arthritic from all those hours of spriting. One day, when I have the time, I'll do a tileset for public use. That is, if I ever retire from gam-makking.

I know how Dark Gaia felt when he saw all those Kaduki faces being used in nearly every VX game. He was one of the first devs to use it. And I see Lann when I see goggle-headed dude too.

Well, I once managed to write 1000-word review for 15-min. long In-Between, so that shouldn't be a problem. Usually, my demo reviews are unscored, though I might make an exception if I find the 2013 review in need of counter-balancing.
It'll have to wait till next month though, as I've sworn to temporarily reduce my RMN involvement in order to avoid total meltdown in RL. :(

Don't worry about it, NTC3. =) Though the game has changed a lot between Dec. 2013 and now.

Related to the game. I've been thinking of ditching interiors for shops/homes/pubs etc. entirely. Maybe do it well... Fire Emblem style ( a unit visits a house, you get a background image of the home and bust shots of both the NPC and PC, and maybe get rewarded with an item or two ). It would also free up more space on VX's already limited tileset and even though there is a way around this, I really do prefer working with constraints.

And to me, designing interiors is a bit of a chore ( I've always preferred natural areas like valleys and caves ), believe it or not. Important locations like churches, palaces and castles I'll still do though. So I'd probably make graphics for those interiors instead of the usual mundane furniture. XD
