I don't know why but reminds me of Dali from Final Fantasy IX. Very pretty map.

It kinda does actually, that was one of my favorite final fantasy games! :) The background actually belongs to Tales of Eternia, but I love the way the layering work came out on top of it :) Thank you very much!
Tales of Eternia, huh? I haven't played that game, just saw few screenshots and sprite resources and I must tell it looks pretty.

Actually, this game appears to be a tribute to Tales of series. I only played Tales of Graces f, Tales of Xillia, and a bit of Tales of Phantasia and I get Tales of feelings here, especially with the battle system (yep, I know you're using Tales of battle sprites here). Still, it lacks food system which appears to be one of characteristic of the series.

Yup, you nailed it, the battle system for some reason was really inspired off the Tales series. When I played the super nintendo version of Tales of Phantasia(translated) it really blew me away at how ahead of it's time it was!
Of course there is my own little flavor added into it as well, but there's a lot of tributes to many games and series I still cherish!

Sadly, no food system is here. :[ But there is, mining ore, crafting weapons/armor, tinkering with gadgets, traps, and devices. Mailing system, and a whole lot more! :)
I love this! The color palette of the characters blends really well with the background. Just be a little wary of the objects, the tree in the bottom corner caught my eye in particular. Kinda stands out a tad.

But overall a cool scene! ;D

Oh, I see what you're saying, I can see it now through contrast. That is true, funny thing about this scene is that it is a past moment, so I added that "back then tint" lol, I just really liked how it looked without the tint, so I posted a screenie >.< thanks a lot for the advice bro!
Edit: I'm gonna carefully overlook other scenes like these now to be aware of things like that!

Yeah it's not too big of a deal. It's obvious from your other screenshots that you know how to design a visually appealing game. :) Just gotta be attentive to the details, those aspects will truly make your project great. For example, the "shadow" part of the tree is on the right side of it, versus the rest of the background where the light is cast from the opposite side. xD But don't sweat it too much.
Awesome smoke, btw. Just one criticism. Nix the chimneys here, and use the metal structure instead (if anyone asks it's a "steam kettle chimney" and sell it hard cuz it's a fantasy).

Btw, I'm trademarking that term or something. Where it's circled is your spout for steam. No chimney needed, and I think you'd find it only helps the sense of a new world whereas this chimney just looks off somehow.
