Karuna and Aurelie were friends. Then Aurelie went off and found the infernal armor of Ellicide and became the Evil Overlord Darkloft. Karuna is the only one who can stop her. But Karuna loves Aurelie, even now.

Luxaren Allure is a medium-sized RPG (12-20 hours) that follows Karuna and her allies as they explore the isles of Luxaren and confront a former friend who now wants nothing but destruction. This is a wlw (women who love women, lesbian romance, yuri, etc) game with an all female playable cast.

Also included are:

  • Title Screen Art, Face Portraits and Illustrations by M-3-1 (http://m-3-1.deviantart.com/)
  • Side View CTB Battles, with animated heroes and (semi)animated enemies!
  • New tilesets and battlers, made just for this game!
  • No random encounters. All enemies are visible on screen, and each triggers a different enemy party.
  • No RTP needed! Most resources are custom, and everything's included with the download.
  • A simple crafting system.
  • A short, character driven story that plays with the standard RPG formula.

Characters:

Karuna has been training with the School of the Unwavering Blade for years, and is considered the best choice for defeating the evil of Darkloft. She's serious, strong-headed, and confident, but her reasons for choosing to be a hero might not exactly be selfless...

Chisa is Karuna's self-proclaimed squire. She's timid but very strong, if a little naive. Her loyalty to Karuna is unquestionable.

A mage from the Naga clan, and one of the few of her kind that does not view humans with suspicion. Carefree and laid-back, she quickly finds herself fascinated with Karuna's quest and even more fascinated with Karuna's squire.

The great-granddaughter of the paladin hero Estes, Lynette is a well-balanced warrior from Rezael who has trained for years to master both the physical and magical arts to make up for the fact that she didn't inherit her family's holy magic powers.

Now known as Overlord Darkloft, the evil one who has placed the isles of Luxaren in dire peril. Karuna has so many questions for her. What will happen when they finally meet again?

Scripts used:
  • Yanfly's Ace Core Engine, Message, Menu, Equipment and Battle systems!
  • Kread-EX's Animated Battlers!
  • Fomar0153's Compatible Customisable ATB/Stamina Based Battle System!
  • Coelocanth's Item Crafting system!
  • NeonBlack's No AutoShadows

And a special thanks to Red Nova, LockeZ, Crystalgate, Archeia_Nessiah, GreatRedSpirit, and everyone else in the Rpgmaker.net forums for their fantastic suggestions, advice, and general help!

ETA: Gayvians = Best title ever proposed.

Your inspiration:
Hi I have one last question you see am kind of a completionist in video games so with out spoilers are there a lot of missables in this game i see there are a lot of crafting items and that is great but am worried i'm going to miss a really item needed to make a item should i be worried about that or is nothing missable till that point of no return i heard about if that is the case i really hope there is something that tells me when i get to the point of no return.

I might be planning awesome gay game~ MAYBE. (I am, but no one will see it for forever~)

Could you tell me about it? Any details are fine. Please! UNI WANTS TO KNOW XD

Hmm, lots of posts since I last posted.

First of all, Unity thanks for the quick response and the fix. Some day if I have enough time I might replay this game on Hard, and if so the changes will be helpful. And even if I don't, they'll be available for others.

You're very welcome! And thanks again for finding those errors! I did a double take when I realized that the monsters wouldn't respawn XD;;;

Now, regarding the cast and the double yuri romances, I don't really have an issue with either.

Yes, the cast is all women. But there are plenty of games with all (or mostly all) dudes, and overall the video game industry is still lacking a bit when it comes to quality games with decent female protagonists (I mean specifically female protagonists, not games that let you completely customize your avatar in all ways). This is also really a bit of an issue that goes beyond video games, but I digress.

So there's nothing wrong with a game focused on women and relationships between women. Heck, it's kind of nice to see.

And same thing with the yuri romances. If there was a game with two het romances, I don't think anyone would bat an eye. Well, I say "if", but there are plenty of games that do have multiple het romances. Change Chisa and Karuna to guys, and no one would think them both having romances would be a "gimmick," or that Luxaren Allure needs some special warning to let people know there is more than one het romance in the game.

It would just be a game with a bit of a focus on romance, nothing more.

Yah, people can point out that in the real world, there are more straight people than gay/bi people, but this is a fantasy game with magic and dark lords and nagas, a work of fiction, and there's no reason it has to conform to real world demographics.

I do think there is a fair point that there aren't exactly a lot of games focusing on gay men and their relationships out there. There is a serious lack there.

And I also think that, in the AAA gaming world especially, companies may be more likely to include female x female romances than male x male romances. The reason being the stereotypical straight guy reaction to them. IE two dudes kissing: "GROSS!", two girls kissing: "HOT!" I definitely wonder how much of a role this played into stuff like the very first Mass Effect having a lesbian romance, but it not being until the 3rd game that there was a gay romance.

But, well, that's another issue entirely. The lack of gay men in video games IS an problem, but it's not the fault of free RPG maker women-focused lesbian RPGs. A game like Luxaren Allure isn't the problem. (Rather, it's part of the solution to a different problem).

Anyways, I may have rambled on a bit, hope it what I said makes sense.

It all made sense to me, and thanks for saying it! I feel the same way; if I'm making a fantasy world, it can be whatever suits the story. I also didn't want the world to be as prejudiced as our own world. Karuna's love is weird because she's in love with the person who became the evil overlord, it's not weird that they're both women.

Chisa has a hard time dealing with Merel's affection because of how Chisa sees and values herself, not because they're both women.

Heck, Lynette doesn't like Chisa and Merel's relationship, not because they're both women, but because it contrasts her ideal relationship; she pines for her perfect fairytale of finding a beautiful princess she could rescue and romance, all the while believing that she'll never find a person like that so she's better off alone. There's some insight into her if you were curious ^^;;

But anyway, yes, I'm not ashamed of what I've made here, and there are people who want that sort of thing and enjoy it, and there are people who aren't looking for that sort of thing and still enjoy it, so I think I did alright ^_^

You can't expect any level of reality from a game with an enemy called "Disco Inferno." You just can't.
I will literally never get over an enemy called Disco Inferno like

I literally cannot even with that shit

AS IN THAT'S THE BEST SHIT GOOD SHIT AW YEEEAH GOOD SHIT THAT"S WHAT I'M TALKIN BOUT

I AM SO GLAD because the idea popped into my head of a fiery disco-ball AND AT THAT POINT THERE WAS NO TURNING BACK XDXD

You may want to check the Tips and Tricks sections about the locations of the eight pieces of Crystallized Hope, then. Keep in mind that even if you miss a piece or two, there are ways to get them even if you can't backtrack.

The only other big miss-able item is the Thessalonite, in the Watery Depths dungeon under the beach of Springsmouth. That's a tricky one, though, as the Watery Depths are already taxing on their own, and you have to find a key down there that opens a special door and then complete a difficult tidal maze to get the Thessalonite.

As for points-of-no-return, the one at the end of the game is clearly marked, with an information book stand that tells you that you may want to make a separate save before continuing.

There are two other points where you can no longer back-track, however. The first is after you exit the Cavern of Swirling Sands and jump down the ledge after the exit. The other is after you leave the Queen's Mushroom Forest after Hotenshin.

Good luck ^_^

And, super cute avatar, by the way ^_^
@Uni Details, since you seemed curious!

It happens to take place in space if that satisfies some curiosity~

I'm also planning to frame it in a world that doesn't find same-sex relationships weird, although the relationship will be pretty atypical for other reasons. I'm a bit worried of both laying on the relationship too thick, and not going far enough with it. Hopefully I find a happy medium!

The relationship is going to be between two acquaintances who find each other again by coincidence. The main character will be a bit spacy and oblivious, and the other man will be a bit incapable of expressing just how happy he is to see the MC again. Eventually, the man expresses how much he actually likes the MC, but it'll um, complicate from there~

Oh, and technically, I made a game with a lesbian main character already (who is also a mother), but There's Beauty in the Bleeding isn't quite ready to be played yet (although it's entirely possible to download it right now and play it). That game involves pseudo-time travel and is a pretty fun concept that just needs its gameplay refined.
okay, so... initially, i didn't plan to have an rpgmaker.net account (i am WAY too shy!! :'D), but after finishing this awesome game, i rushed over here as soon as i could to leave a nice comment!

Luxaren Allure has honestly become one of my favourite games. i'm really glad that i was able to come across it. the art is amazing, the audio design is rad, the maps are great, and the characters are all so charming!

if you have more projects for the future, i would LOVE to play them! ♡

I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME, GOURD! VERY MUCH! :DDDDDDD PLEASE MAKE IT XD

Also, I need to check out There's Beauty in the Bleeding as soon as a download gets put up.
Ok, I'm about to enter the final dungeon, but before that, I just want to ask

how do you or is there a way to fight Haathalek? I understand you need to use the Deathspawn Harp, right? But where do I use it?

Also, I presume there's a use for Gigantic Crown, Demon Face and Golden Hammer, right? Probably in the final dungeon?

Both of those moments are in the final dungeon. Don't worry, you haven't missed it.
Just want to say arrrgh! The final form of the final boss is irritatingly tough lol. Died twice already. Will try a 3rd time tomorrow. Hopefully can finish before Christmas...

I have uploaded a new version where the final boss's last form has 15% less HP. If anyone's currently having trouble with that boss, you can download the new version and move your files over for a little bit easier of a fight.

>.<;; I'm finding it's a real tightrope-walk to get the game to a place that everyone finds enjoyable. Perhaps I've just been hearing from people who thought the battle was too long?

For people who beat the game, what do you think? Was the last boss battle too long or was it fine the way it was?

There is, in fact, a Hard Mode ^_^ I feel like it lives up to it's name. XD

Did you make any changes to the last boss from when I played it? I didn't have much trouble with it.

To me, the difficulty really depends on your character's equipment. The gear you make with alchemy will turn pretty much every boss fight into a cakewalk. I gave Chisa the Healer's Impulse and Passionate Ring, and that alone meant I didn't have to worry about status ailments at all.

Aside from that, I beat the game at level 53 average on Normal, so maybe I grinded a bit too much when I was testing it. Overall though, I thought the final boss was perfect the way it was, assuming nothing changed before release.

Well, my characters were around level 52, and I kind of struggled with the final boss. It's not a complaint though. I like challenge as it is, just that I was only venting my frustration a little for the final boss :p

EDIT: For me, status ailments weren't the issue. It has more to do with the final boss growing in strength with time (the demonic power), so I know it's a matter of quickly killing the final boss. Easier said than done, though.
