Pokémon RMN Version Demo Finally Released

... And it only took me around four years to get a public release out!

Here's some info:

> Again, the demo "ends" around the point you reach Makskor Town, but feel free to explore from there.

> Your game's save file will be stored in your default "games" folder as oppose to the folder of the download. When the finished release is out, all you need to do is just play again and you'll be back where you left off. No copying needed!

> Unlike other RMXP games, this game neither supports a functional fullscreen nor joypad input. I asked the guy running the project about it, and he was like "nah~" and I was like ":/" and he was like "<3"

Other info can be found in this blog:
https://rpgmaker.net/games/6734/blog/16190/

Enjoy! And if you happen to stumble upon a code, send me a private message. ;)

EDIT:
If you get an error that reads: "RGSS104E not found." Go to the configuration file named "Game" and open it in notepad. Under "Library=" change "RGSS104E" to "RGSS102E" instead, and the game should work.

Ah, can't believe I didn't see this until now. Will give it a try soon.

Wonder if this game will spark my love in playing Pokemon games again. Lost interest from the 4th generation (Pokemon Diamond/Pearl series) onwards.
Hey, I haven’t played Pokemon since generation two. It’s been a long time…

So... um... I got A SHINY!!!

I got more than a little excited. X3

Are shinies calculated the same way as in the normal Pokeyman games?
Seiromem
I would have more makerscore If I did things.

there is a slightly larger chance to get a shiny in this game.

It's still a very small chance, but it seems the chance was just enough so that anyone who plays gets at least one shiny at some point.
(during a beta test, nearly everyone who played got/ran into at least one shiny (I got two!))

The difference here being you can keep yours for the final game!
Curvri is the best.

I had a let's play I wanted to submit, but canceled it due to poor audio quality (couldn't hear my voice until the third video). But in it, you'd see I wound up replacing my starter with Curvri.

Curvri is the only Pokeman I'll ever need...

What seiromem said. Coincidentally, I often never encounter a shiny in any of my playtests of this game... Just like the real pokemon games as a matter of fact!

Curvri is great, though have you gotten to Trestile Gym yet? :P
Congratulations Ratty! Your work has really paid off. I can't wait to get home and download this, in the middle of traveling now.
Besides the first gym leader bug that makes the game Unplayable I'm having a lot of fun with this game. The glitch happens if you lose to the gym leader :(

Hmm, I don't think so! I beat the
psychic sisters, unless that wasn't the gym. I last left off in the middle of the forest, after encountering the synthetics
. Tons of fun by the way! And a whole lot of content for a demo.

I'm loving it.

What exactly happens when you lose to a gym leader? Either way, I'll look into it.

EDIT: Just found out about it. Hotfix incoming.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
(It's important because I used giant red text)

I just got a hotfix uploaded that fixes a major bug with the first gym leaders, which causes the game to freeze upon losing and then re-entering the gym. I highly recommend you download the latest version if you aren't up to the first gym yet.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you SOO MUCH!!! But I'm sorry that you had to do a patch so early in release.

No problem at all! I kind of figured it was bound to happen. :P
Bugs like that are serious and can ruin the experience.
I treasure my Afropup like it's gold. <3 (Its name is Rhythm~)
Great!

Will try out soon. Thanks for all your great work.

There is an issue, though: the center and left Pokeballs both appear to hold Flaregon:

EDIT: Erm, wait. As soon as I clicked out of the right Pokeball, it immediately selected Fairimp. Not sure what's going on there, but at least you can choose any of the starters.
Interesting. I think that's a known bug on my end, but the problem is I'm at a loss as to how to address it.

The selection screen is tied to input events, and because RPG Maker doesn't have enough options to check input other than "pressing down a button," it tends to have stuff repeat constantly.

What may be happening is that after you're canceling, you are holding down the same input that's supposed to be checked while you are shifting the cursor to a new position, causing the condition to repeat itself.

May I ask how you have this choice set up in the event commands list? If you are using scripts for this, then I can't help you. But if you used the Conditional Branch option "if button is being pressed", I have a suggestion: Use the Button Input Processing command instead and let Conditional Branches check for the value of the corresponding variable. It's a little more complicated, but also less prone to creating bugs.
(Obviously, if you're already doing it this way, then never mind.)

I've only played a little bit so far, but it's been fun! As soon as I have gotten further into the game, I'll be happy to send you a report detailing any bugs/errors/typos I've come across, if you'd like that.
I have to say, I was only expecting about an hour tops for the demo but I'm now on hour 5 and still going! This is great! XD

That's something I'm not too familiar with, but it's worth trying out. Yeah, it seems like "if button is being pressed" is pretty problematic

The Button Input Processing command is really useful because, unlike the "if button is being pressed" condition, it requires an actual new button Input (so no holding a button down) and pauses the event command list until a button has been pressed. This makes it great for creating choice menus without scripts or the actual main menu.

Would it help you if I quickly set up a sample map with an event that demonstrates the function?
