Vampires are creatures that live amidst the darkness of eternal night. They have absolutely no regard for human lives and treat them like stones to be kicked away.

One night, a girl was running in a forest while being chased by three bandits. Then a black-clothed man passed by and subsequently took them down easily. The girl, who thought she was saved by him, wanted to repay him and thus invited him to her village.

......The man, who was actually a vampire, smiled and accepted her invitation. After all, the more prey, the merrier......

Nocturne: Rebirth (月夜に響くノクターン Rebirth) is a popular 10 to 20-hour (story-wise) dark fantasy JRPG originally created using RPG Maker XP in 2009 by Shou (or Cogwheel) and translated into English by me, eplipswich. It is actually the remake of the game Nocturne created using RPG Maker 2000 way back in 2002. The differences between the two include new graphics and a new battle system, with only the story virtually unchanged. This version serves as the English version of Nocturne: Rebirth. It is also my second game translation after Seraphic Blue.

Nocturne: Rebirth is notable for
- A highly original ATB battle system
- Touch-based enemy encounters
- Slick battle animations
- A highly versatile character levelling system via skill upgrades
- Unique Familiar Summon System
- Almost 100% custom graphics
- Characters that players can sympathize with
- Unique soundtracks
and so much more!

Japanese Trailer (Will make an English trailer in the future):

Latest Blog

Blog 18: Boy, has it been a while. 10,000 downloads and what's been going on

Well, first of all, this is late, but better late than never. Nocturne Rebirth has officially become one of the big boys of 10k downloads, so congrats on that!

So if you've been wondering what has been going on, I'm still translating the visual novel called Aiyoku no Eustia, so once again, if you're interested in that, you can check it out at https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/16982-aiyoku-no-eustia-translation-project-partial-patch-is-out/

Then what about the RPG Maker scene? Remember what I said before about the game Hat World/Hatalonia at http://rpgex.sakura.ne.jp/littleworld/? Well, a revamp of it just got released about 7 months ago, with the latest version just released last month! I'm currently playing it, and I'm really enjoying it! Truly, I feel this game deserves to be translated. But I will only most likely embark on translating this game after I'm done playing it and I'm substantially done with translating Aiyoku no Eustia, so it'll be a long wait. Hopefully you'll see a game page of Hatalonia here next year! So do look forward to it.

So yep, that's really it from me for now. Till next time!

From what I can tell, unlike the sorcerous swords where you can equip a ring/bracelet to reduce the elemental damage over time, the Rising Sun Spear and Full Moon Sword can't have its DoT reduced.

You're going to have to just outheal the damage (although you could always just equip them right before you throw down some long cool down skill, and then unequip them the next turn so you don't have to deal with the health drain).

Btw, the special swords/spears that do damage to your characters give bonus stats like Attack, Mentality, Speed, etc. so when you decide what to use, look at the status page for the full picture of what they do.
e....where you do get the rising sun spear??random monster drop?

Yep. From the final dungeon.

i think if you equip barrier amulet for Full Moon Sword,it can reduce DoT a bit.i try it and it work
yippy,thx all..i made it!!!i manage defeat those 3...it really challenging.but why i cant equip the prized sword,ow
Congrats! It sucks that we can't use the "prized sword" but I guess it's because it's a different weapon type, similar to how the Apocalypse is a staff despite totally looking like a spear.
I lost an hour or two playing this last night. It's pretty good!
@gabranth: Congrats on defeating the optional boss! Just so you know, the Brave Clear weapon you got is actually Serena's weapon and is a great sword. And yeah, it can't be equipped so it just acts as proof of victory over those 3 :)

@Liberty: Glad you're having fun, Liberty! :)

And woot, a game gem spotlight! :p
Finished the game just recently, thanks again for the translation :D

The battle system and custom sprites sure are great. Character customization is very cool and skill system is unique. Game is rather challenging if you aim for full brave clear. Had to replay a few late bosses, the final boss was a bit annoying with insta death, I even had all 4 chars die together once or twice >>

Story was rather plain and predictable, but it's not too bad and kept you going. Nothing near the level of seraphic blue, at least.

The secret places system is rather fun along with mini puzzles - not hard, but challenging enough to be entertaining. You usually don't repeat same thing more than a few times, most of puzzles are unique.

Also noticed people talking about post game content, what is that? Oo After I won it just showed final cutscenes + credits and I was back to main menu with last save before the final boss fight.

Well, all in all - another great job, eplips :) Looking forward to more of your works, you sure have good picks ^^

Well, I'm sure you've Brave Cleared the final boss and got something, right? Now, when you check your most recent save, check the item glossary and look for the item that you got for Brave Clear. The description of that item is the hint to the post-game content ;)

And I'm glad that you enjoyed this game too! Yeah, the story definitely isn't on the same level as that of Seraphic Blue. Translating this game sure was a real breather from the madness that is Seraphic Blue though lol.

Also, I have some more great games to translate in mind, so yep, look forward to those when the time comes :p
If you do translate more games of this quality, where do we find out?

I played Seraphic Blue but only made it halfway through before I got burnt out. It was a good game for its time though.
I'll mostly hang around here, so you can check my profile here from time to time. When a new game translation of mine pops up, it'll be the main game that shows up on my profile :)

Alternatively, I've just added my Twitter contact to my profile, so when a translation of mine is green-lit, I'll also post on my Twitter (this'll be the 1st time I'll be using Twitter for this purpose, though).

In the long run, I may even create a website of my own. But I'll see how that goes.

Was there supposed to be save option after credits? Quite sure I had none. If I remember correctly, then it was some spear like looking object for brave clear, can't remember name, but can't find it in inventory in the pre boss save.

Hmm, maybe some glitch, will need to replay the boss fight when I have time.

Galleries and other stuff unlocked just fine.
I had the same problem, but you should follow eplipswich's advice. Open up your menu, go to "Manual," then go to "Item Glossary." Look for the golden spear/staff icon that you got and check the weapon description. It gives you a clue as to where to go to access the post-game.

No, no. How it works is that after the credits, post-game content is automatically unlocked universally, so all existing save files of yours (or at least your pre-boss save) will have access to the post-game content (and hence no save after credits is needed). And it's not a glitch: by obtaining that golden staff (it's called Apocalypse btw), the item will automatically be registered in the Item Glossary (not inventory), and like ArcticLobster said, Item Glossary is under main menu, "Manual".
Like gabranth said, the Rising Sun Spear and Full Moon Sword does physical damage over time to Luna and Reviel. To reduce the DoT, equip a barrier amulet or a stone ring. Luna comes with one stone ring and barrier amulets drop from the final dungeon (either use familiars like the "puff-ball bunnies" with loot rise or equip a familiar with Treasure Hunt). Stone ring reduces the DoT by 4 and barrier amulet reduces the DoT by 8.

Anyone know what you get for clearing the no brave level challenge? It's starting to look doable now that I've gotten good gear and hit the level cap.

EDIT: I did it! Beat the no brave level challenge! A little sad that there's nothing left to do in the game. This empty feeling of completion...
What does the "evil eye" skill do?

What does the "evil eye" skill do?

It means if you use any of Reviel's eye skills, there's a chance of stunning the enemy or enemies.

@ArcticLobster: Haha congrats! There's still one more thing left to do, though. If you're a completionist, try to complete the Item Glossary (by playing a New Game+ or as few New Games+ as you can)! :)
Great game. Brilliant fight system and pretty good art style.I cleared the game (along with post-game content on brave lv at every fight) and it was pretty good. Story was little predictable but that is no problem. I hope that you will translate more great games like this eplipswich because your work in translating this one was great.

Thanks for the kind words, KanzanX! :) I'll be looking to translate more high-quality games like this in the near future.
