Beloved Rapture is a game that takes place amidst an epic conflict, though its heart is most deeply concerned with the intimate human relationships of its characters.

Personal and interpersonal stories take center stage. Characters challenge not only the next looming dungeon boss—but themselves, and their own demons.

Existentialism, spirituality, family trauma, LGBT themes, and friendship are all important elements of Beloved Rapture's story, and are treated with the reverence they are due.

Johan, an introverted young man from the countryside, finds himself thrown into a conflict beyond his comprehension. The Aeons—an enigmatic religious faction—move ever-closer to his hometown.

Now faced with a threat to his once-elysian way of life, Johan must contemplate the role he is destined to play in their escalating conflict.

At his side are Aiden, the mysterious son of a Shrine caretaker, who has trained since childhood in the mystic arts; and Crystal, a runaway noblewoman intent on ending the war before it reaches her family.

Through their travels, Johan is intrigued by Aiden's increasing fascination with him, as well as the appearance of Draco, an Aeon soldier with a connection to his own mother.

Small Retrospective + Old Screenshots

Hey all!

We're back to development full-throttle now that we've reached out Kickstarter goal! Feels pretty fantastic to be so reinvigorated with the game, after a bit of a lull period. :D

As we finish BR during the next 12 months, I thought it'd be cool to take a moment and reflect on the project's long history. For the sake of nostalgia, I'd like to keep some of the images from the classic freeware game saved here in this blog post. This is the only place they'll be available. I'll post them in chronological order, so everyone can see the evolution!

I know some people (all three of you) might be disappointed they'll never be able to play that version of the game, but I hope everyone can trust me when I say the revamp will be superior in every way possible.

I've learned a lot about script-writing and design over the years, and I'm glad to put those lessons to use with a bit of a "blank canvas", if you will. The wonderful team I've accumulated have added their talents, expanded the vision past anything I could hope to do on my own.

Comparison

Early RMN Era Images

The earliest major demo of BR that I released was back in 2008-2009.

At the time, I was still an extreme novice with Rm2k3, so most of the design choices were questionable at best (..and at worst, downright awful).

I had a lot of ambition, but zero idea how to actually create a game. Nonetheless, I learned quite a lot from how game was received - the reviews and comments were notoriously polarized.

Post-Hiatus Revival (2015-17)

Late in 2009, I suffered a pretty severe hard-drive failure, which lost nearly ten month's work of progress. Out of frustration, I effectively cancelled BR as I began my first year of college, putting it out of my mind.

It wasn't until nearly 7 years later that I was able to recover the files (little did I know a friend had the folder saved), and with the legalization of Rm2k3, I was spurred to start work on it again.

For better or worse, I only shared that version with about ten people, all of whom were from RMN.

Im gonna wait for the full version and then play it. ^^
This game looks intresting. :D
There is progress? Wow, nice. I played the demo ages ago and liked it. One of the few games I have subscribed to here.
the images look beautiful so far. canmt wait to download the demo when u finaly get it up
Thanks! It's making healthy progress! ;p

I actually received a recent demo for this game from Blindmind himself and played throughout it and I have to say. The game is extremely immersive and impressive with what it really aims for.

There is the atmosphere, the scenery, even the great usage of subtle sounds effects to really set the mood in. The game accomplishes a great amount of work going into the story and how it continues to rollout through the rest of the game.
This is truly one of rpg maker 2003's finest crafted games! :D
Giving away a few more links to my most recent beta demo if anyone is interested! Comment or shoot me a message! :)

(I'm looking for some generally extensive feedback, btw).

Well, the description of the game and the art look really nice so if you are still offering your latest beta demo then I certainly would like to take a look :)
This is random but... but can you change the title font to not bleeding cowboys? it's a super duper overused and tacky font that does this otherwise pretty-looking game zero justice. if you want a swash font, might recommend the zapfino font? it's admittedly somewhat common but nowhere near as....urrrgh as bleeding cowboys.
Thanks for the feedback Kalled.

Yeah, some "Design choices" I made as an early twenty-something have come to haunt me. XD The font will definitely be replaced...I just haven't found a great substitute yet.
This game looks beautiful. I really like the artwork. Do you know when you'll have a demo, or the complete game for download?

Thanks! I try not to offer up official release dates at this point (..XD), but you can expect Act 1 before this year is over. It will be a full, self-contained game.
I was about to say, I'd give this a try. Unfortunately there was no download yet, so guess I have to wait a little longer ^^
