Help us fund BR's commercial remaster! Donations: Paypal.me/rapturousstudio

Beloved Rapture is a narrative-driven indie game in the style of the “classic” 90s role-playing games.

It combines the best elements of a SNES-era RPGs (an immersive game world, tough puzzles, dungeons), with a more "cinematic" focus - akin to an Adventure Game.

In its earliest form, the project originated all the way back in 2009 - but it was not until 2014/2015 that I pulled it out of hiatus, and started to redefine my overall vision for the project. I began recreating the game from the ground-up, loosely based on my old outlines.

In 2018, I made the decision to "convert" Beloved Rapture into a full-fledged commercial game - something I could truly call my own! I embarked on the ambitious task of replacing all of its graphical and audio assets for an eventual release on Steam (and hopefully elsewhere)!

Over the years, I drew inspiration from several (quite distinct) sources: Traditional JRPG Titles (duh!), Puzzle/Adventure Games, Visual Novels, and even a plethora of Japanese Anime for the game's storytelling.

Rather than adopting a conventional narrative, BR moves through various "chapters" that explore every character's backstory--spanning across years, and even decades of time. Ultimately, the large cast is united in a single, tumultuous conclusion.

- Evocative storytelling that spans many hours and dynamic character scenarios.
- Retro-style, turn-based battle system - face off against many challenging enemies & bosses to gain new skills.
- Endless replay value: dozens of chests, items, and small secrets hidden on every map!
- Extensive soundtrack that boasts many beautifully composed, original tracks & sound effects.
- Simple and intuitive controls allowing high accessibility for players of all skill levels.

Discord rages through the venerable kingdom of Alexandria. Though once a great bastion of civilization and prosperity in the world, a sudden change in government has now turned the populace against their own rulers.

The mighty Isolde - the most powerful Commander to ever serve Alexandria - has lit a fire of war that threatens to engulf the entire world. Outmaneuvering pacifists in the royal council, she has struck out in all directions, intending to bring Alexandria's neighbors to heel. The king, intoxicated by the prospect of becoming a new Emperor, has given her his blessing.

Not content to spread Alexandria's- and her own- influence outside their borders, Isolde has rallied the kingdom's institutions to her cause. She uses them to spread propaganda and has rewritten their mandates to pervert their traditions of peace and enlightenment, focusing instead on blood-lust and war. Any citizens to stand her way, including members of those guilds which do not support her lust for conquest, are expunged from the capital.

The Aeons - a powerful religious sect, have began to fight back. The cult is led by Draco, a formidable soldier and Isolde’s former lover. Their attacks sow chaos and panic across Alexandria, and their prowess in battle has embarrassed Isolde's military forces. The Aeons spread their own ancient, mystic beliefs by force even while Alexandria loses sight of its own spiritual and moral compass.

John, a young man from the countryside, now finds himself thrown into a conflict beyond his comprehension. As the Aeons draw closer to his hometown, threatening his elysian way of life, John is forced to contemplate what role he must play in their escalating conflict.

At his side are Aiden, the young son of a Shrine caretaker, who has trained since birth in the mystic arts and Crystal, a runaway noblewoman intent on ending the war before it reaches her family.

this looks dope. looking forward to the demo!
Exciting, but ultimately pointless.
Whoa! This game is still around! Talk about a nostalgia overload.
There's going to be a commercial version on steam. Yeah, no download.
I'm sure there'll be a freeware demo eventually, but not anytime soon.
