Generic RM2k3 RTP Gaming Fun!

I always wanted to make that game based on everything I enjoyed as a kid. This is the end result.

Hero's Realm creates a super-synergy of proactive features to create a gaming experience greater than the sum of its parts.

Lead four heroes and their teams against the evil forces of Mephistocles, the Lord of Demons in this retro-RPG adventure. Toggle between the four heroes as you explore dungeons, ascend towers, spelunk caves, save villages and defeat the forces of evil! Reminiscent of classic RPGs such as Dragon Quest III and Final Fantasy V, Hero's Realm is a fun romp in old-school RPG nostalgia.

-22 character classes (12 base classes, 4 hero classes, 3 secret classes, 3 master classes)
-TONS of game content and sidequests
-Classic NES-era and SNES-era RPG gameplay
-Great music
-Multi-party switching system (like Kefka's Tower in FFVI!)
-Multi-party tactical battles (at least 5 of them!)
-Massive world map
-Fun

The story is split into 5 chapters, with each of the first four chapters focusing on a new hero, and the 5th chapter bringing them all together.

Chapter 1: Won't Somebody Please Think of the Children?
Chapter 2: There is Something Fishy Going on...
Chapter 3: Land of the Rising Son
Chapter 4: True Calling
Chapter 5: The War on Terror

I'm on the new game+ for this game and there seems to be an error for the map of Cidney. After completing Grundo Manor and warping to Cidney, I can't move freely through the town -all of the shadows of the bridges act as solid objects. I uploaded the save into my locker, can you please fix it?

Until (if) this bug gets fixed, you can enter the inn and go upstairs, walk onto the bridge, then back downstairs to reset how the shadows behave.
Did that fix Corfaisus suggested work?

I have to admit that I didn't have the patience to play through New Game+ so there are probably a few obvious bugs in there. This game is a beast.

I'm finally getting around to playing. I installed the fonts from the download link, but the text is still completely unreadable. Any suggestions?
You might need to restart your machine.

Have you tried playing any other 2k3 games?

I've only played a few before. I had the same problem with Retro Quest but not any others I've played.
You could try uninstalling the MS Mincho font and then reinstalling it from my font download.

That did it. Thanks!

I'm enjoying the game so far (for the most part), but man, the random encounters really kill it for me. Especially on the world map. It really kills my spirit of exploration when I have to look across the world map, guess how many random encounters I'll have to get in along the way, and then weigh whether or not it's actually worth it to look over there.
Hmmm....that means either you find the battle system boring, or the battles themselves are lacking, or the reward for battles isn't high enough. HR isn't for everybody, I suppose.

But yes, there is an element of risk in exploration. But I hope I compensated enough with the reward. One thing you could do is look at the worldmap I posted here and determine ahead of time whether you need to go somewhere or not.

I don't think it's a problem with the battles, it's just that random encounters is a mechanic I really hate. In my mind, it turns battles into an interruption instead of something I'm doing on my own terms. That's part of why oldschool RPGs have a hard time grabbing me. But that's just my opinion.
I seem to be locked out of the teleportal in the Hasara shrine. I've already freed the miners and cured the poison, so I don't think I'm missing anything. I also saw the messenger for the gurus and talked to him. The door to the miner's guild is also locked. I'm on my third playthrough (trying to find all the tiny medals this time). I'll put my save up in my locker, please look at it?

You forgot to get the Thief's Key from the sick man's house in Kaybee:

Chat with this guy in the house on the north end of the village to get the key and you'll be good to go!
