Babby's First Gam

Heh.
So in a way, this is technically my first completed game submitted for the rest of the world to play. I have a couple of contest entries, but they're just dopey little things I didn't put much effort into. This is a heartfelt project I spent roughly six months on, if you add it all up. And to think, it was only supposed to take 3 weeks! If you ever need advice on workload projection and time management, stay the hell away from me.

Anyway, this will be tucked neatly under my belt as I move on to bigger and more ambitious horizons.

On Course for Completion by Event's End

I have to admit, I've never really budgeted my time towards endeavors like this before. Usually I operate under a work-on-it-when-I-work-on-it philosophy, but that always ends with a lot of days wasted. Maybe when this is all over, I'll try and maintain this pace and see if I can plough through my real game before the end of the next year.

But on the other hand, time management isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'll plan for this or that to happen within a certain span, but then I get a flash of inspiration and feel the need to play a NES game to a certain point, extract a particular sprite's animations, and convert them into SRPG95 format for a silly cinematic. What was supposed to be a full afternoon of mapping an entire chapter's series of battles turned into a day and the better part of the evening spent putting together a goofy little sideshow. I'm sure players will appreciate it for it's artistic inanity, but still. These things add time requirements.

I asked Liberty for another week, but her heart is made of stone.

I'm also anticipating running up against the Map limit in Sim RPGMaker 95. I'm only allowed 100 of them, which seems sufficient for a small'ish game, but keep in mind that every dinky little event where Libby walks into a room, takes the treasure chest, and leaves, is 1 of 100 maps.
And the small'ish game is also growing to be pretty big >.>

That's all for now, folks.

RMN-related Suggestions Welcome

Fire RMNblem Gaiden is back on the burner thanks to the Revive the Dead event and I hope to have it completed by the end of this month. Right on!

You 11 Subscribers and the 54 people who've downloaded it know what it's all about, but for the rest of you, this is a community-oriented game taking inspiration from various silly things in and around RPGMaker.net. The first iteration didn't have more than name drops built on a makeshift Fire Emblem Gaiden engine, but this time, I want to incorporate some familiar site humor.

To that end, Suggestions Are Welcome. I'd like community related things like...

Running jokes
Anecdotes
Personality quirks of different site members
Humorous events. An example would be KumoriCloud and his Jar.
Even just "Hey, make me a Recruitable/Boss/NPC Who Does _____" is fine
Anything that comes to mind, really
