AESTHETICGAMER'S PROFILE

I'm Dusk Golem, aka AestheticGamer. You can also just call me Ryan. I work on small RPG Maker horror games for contests and pleasure, that usually tell cryptic surreal stories and were made relatively quickly. Most of my games either feature mostly original or completely original graphics, art, and music. However, I also work on much bigger and developed games as well. My first big developed RPG Maker game I'm working on slowly over time is Complete Isolation. In the meantime, I work and release smaller things here and there, they're good practice and learning experiences.

I really like the soundtrack, especially the music that starts from 2:20. Really good.

I hope it works well in context. Anyways, it's a shorter project and the elements are coming together nicely, so at the very least it'll be an earlier title. I just hope the earlier moments don't turn some people off and the story ends up being up to snuff.

Will yours be the first MV game on this site to have a download? We'll find out soon!

Being first is not the goal, but if it happens, it happens. The game will most likely be done by next Friday, or somewhere that weekend at the latest.

It's a bit faster since it uses RPG Maker RTP sprites at first, but due to the nature of the project rapid development sessions can be quite productive, and the art by my partner and the music I've been working on has been going a lot faster than intended.

Speaking of the music coming along well, you can hear a sampling of the soundtrack for the project here:

is it ok if I make a playthrough of this and put it on youtube?

Most certainly, though only the demo is available right now, and the full thing will probably be done in the next week or two since I already have almost all the artwork and all of the original music done. But I am curious to reactions to specific things, both towards the end of the demo and beyond.

Gawd, who's voice acting? Everytime I get goose bumps when I hear the male voice. Love it. :DDD
It's a really cool and scary game. :3
(At the moment I am at this cemetery with the eye statues.)
I hope it will be exist a german version of this game someday. :3

To be seen how language stuff goes. And happy you enjoyed the voice acting, I voiced the Host myself.

I really love the game, it's amazingly creepy :3 especially the audio, and you're such a cute little marshmellow! But I am stuck in a place with tombstones and the epitaph, where there's glowing eyes on sticks that you turn on with switches at the base, then press the button on the stone book to (I think) open the gate. It would be great if someone could give a hint :)

(SPOILERS FOR THE SOLUTION BELOW)

There's nine statues around that, when clicked, make a light in the statues turn on and glow red. Next to each statue is a tombstone, with an inscription on it of some sort. Right above all of this is a barred-off underground entrance, and a book monument with a longer inscription. The book inscription gives hints to what statues to press, you need to read the grave's inscriptions and determine what graves match hints in the book's inscription, and in turn, which statue lights to turn on.

The graves each mention the name of the person, the date they died, and a small flavor text about them. The answer to the small riddles in the book inscriptions are related to all three elements of the grave's inscriptions.

Hint:

Solution if you decide to give up:

The statues to light up are as follows, an O means the light is on, an X means the light is off:
O________X
X _X _O _X
_X___O_
___O____

i have played this before but theres no comment :/...

to remind my self i hated this got stuck on the color puzzle which by the way it was worded was unsolvable as things overlapped.

it would also be great if the developer hid some comments that talk about such things in detail without them hiding it.
spoilers are messed up :/

Oh my, I actually forget how to do spoiler tags in this comment section. But I did add a spoiler warning.

I think I recall your comment, it was on the older version of this game, which was a different game page. That version was reworked a lot now twice, this is the 'final expansion' version, the note's wording has been changed a lot and several things from the original version were cut/changed, along with a lot of new stuff.

can you please tell me how do you beat the don't leave me puzzle. i already got ending 5 and i am now trying to get every other ending.

SPOILER WARNING:

Don't go the route where you get a 'Don't Leave Me' message. Try and keep in mind where you got the message, as it'll only pop up once, even from different angles.

However, look for a table... Near there is where the exit is.

Also know if going for all endings, there's two endings in the mansion earlier when you get the key that has two uses (Endings 6 & 7, though 7 you needed to have messed with the radio during the party scene earlier, before meeting Host, but in the party room).

Subscribed! I haven't played your previous game yet, but it sounds cool. How long are you planning it to be?

Really up in the air how development goes, as it's a bit of a quicker project and usually with my games it's hard to put an exact timer on them. An example is I would of personally put Girl's Graveyard (a previous game of mine) at a 40-60 minutes long, but most people who played it I heard took about 2-3 hours to complete it. Since this one is split into possibilities and pathways, I suspect one playthrough would take a shorter amount of time, but I want to make it so there's a lot of different possibilities and reason to replay.

But this is a somewhat spontaneous 'fun' project, which is why its one of the projects I'm doing that doesn't have completely original spritework (most of the projects I do, I sprite, but I am a slow spriter, so I'm only spriting some of the unique stuff I want to sprite right now and using outside resources for this project), but I'm a fast developer and due to practice doing timed competitions, can get a lot done quickly. An example being I already have all the music done for this game and already designed and scripted all of the main beginning location of the game in just a couple days. Spriting is usually the slowest thing for me, but regardless.

However, want to make it fun and already have the story and its possibilities worked out in its head, but want to come up with fun scenarios and gameplay things while avoiding some RPG Maker horror tropes, such as making the main source of horror chasing enemies. One of my biggest goals with this game is to make it seriously creepy, I got a lot of compliments on my last game, Close Your Eyes, from people saying that the game was seriously creepy, which had me happy but I know I can do creepy better than that, and want this to be more so.

I need to make a lot of scenarios still, but development is going swimingly. If you want to listen to the OST I cooked up for the game (mixture of original tunes from me, music some friends made, and some royalty free songs) you can listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8O4iOHhu5Q
