I'm Ben_Random. I've been around since 2008 but I didn't really get active here since Super RMN Bros. 2. That, an unfinished game, and a couple of contests sums up what I've done with game making on this site. I find that my main purpose here is writing. I have a few tutorials out there, as well as some reviews on Mario fan games such as RMN Bros. or Mario V.S. the Moon Base.
Now with the internet the way it is these days, you can probably use just this information to stalk me.

Player Selection Screen
author=Uzay2000
Hello.
Does anyone know how to make a player selection screen in rpgmaker 2003?
Thanks.
When I was making my first project, I just made a map.
It would be best if this map were the default size, so that it took up the full screen.
In tiles, you could write the name of the game, or design the map so that it looked as if it represented your game.
Then, add separate events that will change the character, (I use VX, so I am not sure of the specific event command in rm2k3).
After the character is changed, add some text, and have a transport to the place you would like your player to start.
I am sure there is a way to do this with scripts but alas, I have no scripting knowledge.

You could set up an event where you want it on the map then use the show picture command, set to the events x and y position. Um, or sprite it and add it to either a tileset or character set. ^.^;
I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you're saying.
(You see RMN, I am a dummie.)

author=Versaliaauthor=Ben_RandomNope. Depending on the quality, use iDraw or Paint.net and then you just have to copy and paste into a tileset (match things up to a template / guess-n-check).author=calunioI have Gimp. I was just wondering if there was an easier way to do it.
Well... there's no "trick" or "program" to turn pictures into tiles or chars. You just need decent image editors and do the resizing, adjusting, etc. You need minimum spriting/editing knowledge to do it.
Wolfcoder please begin work on a program that magically transforms a given image into a tileset as soon as you're done with RM20XX

@Calunio: Panorama, hmm? Wouldn't the panorama scroll when the map pans? ... unless there's a way to disable the scroll... if so, do you know how 'cause that would be useful. :Oauthor=tardis:O! Why didn't I think of that? That's so simple! Thanks a lot! :)author=FelixFlywheelthe panorama won't scroll if the panorama image is the same size as the map.

I've considered Panoramas, but I've decided against it.

Any reason not to use panoramas?
Care to show me the picture (or a sample picture) so we can know exactly what you're talking about?
I already have the majority of the map done.
I just would like to have a small picture of...furniture, for instance. Scale to a VX sprite size.
I want to take this image and then tile it out.
I have considered Panoramas, but I would also like to make event graphics.

Is there any efficient method of turning pictures into tiles for RMVX?
Possibly a software or something?
