BEN_RANDOM'S PROFILE

I'm Ben_Random. I've been around since 2008 but I didn't really get active here since Super RMN Bros. 2. That, an unfinished game, and a couple of contests sums up what I've done with game making on this site. I find that my main purpose here is writing. I have a few tutorials out there, as well as some reviews on Mario fan games such as RMN Bros. or Mario V.S. the Moon Base.

Now with the internet the way it is these days, you can probably use just this information to stalk me.

This same process which worked so wonderfully last time is still being used here, but remember: Super RMN Bros. 2 was better than SRMNB 1, but IT STILL SUCKED.
My main problem with both the games was not the individual level quality as much as it was the compilation of the levels. They all looked hodge-podgey, and they didn't fit together. I know some of this is inevitable with a community game, but I think it still can be done a little better in SRMNB3 than it was in the last game.
In short, you guys should not only focus on the specific quality of the levels, but also how they fit together. :)
I kind of find this more of a nitpick than it is a devastating flaw with the game itself. Honestly, the purpose of this event is to bring the community together to make some quality levels and have fun. I don't think anyone should be confined to make a specific type of level for a certain area within the game.

Besides, most of the levels that were submitted were grouped in categories in the final product anyway. I don't think it's as big of a deal as you are making it out to be.

That is a good point.

Super RMN Bros. 3

No promises about making any levels, but I do have a bit of wisdom to share:

Super RMN Bros. 2 was better than it's predecessor for one main reason: The critiquing process that BARELY existed in the first game was extremely present in the sequel.

Super RMN Bros. 3

I'll try to participate this time around.

String Quartet

So, I wrote this piece over the course of one day. I was wondering what you musicians think of it.

This is the first piece I've ever written for strings. It's a quartet with two violins, a viola, and a cello part. I am not a seasoned musician from any standpoint. I've been playing the trombone for two years now, and have taught myself some music theory online, but that's it.

That's cool, but what I really want is for someone to compose some original, 8 bit music.

Every time I click a link on the site, I get a 403 error. Plus, I was hoping someone could make some original stuff. But thanks anyway!

Ya, You've got a point WolfCoder.

8bit Music Wanted

My friend and I are creating a game based upon Kirby's Adventure, Super Mario Bros, and The Legend of Zelda. We've found some pretty good 8-bit music on newgrounds, but we would like some original stuff too. I know there are a lot of good composers out there, and I was wondering if someone could make me a few 8-bit tracks (looping) for use in the game. You would be credited. I would like a 1-1 style tune, an eery temple type track, and a boss battle as well. If anyone is willing to do a large soundtrack, I will request more songs.

Thanks. :)
