Working around cliche? Writing discussion..
Chliches are a result of expectations and conventions. Understanding what is cliche, that is, what is "to be expected", in any particular genre or subgenre is important. I feel like if someone is aware of what they are writing, then they know why they are emphasizing or utilizing a cliche. Just don't be vacant about it. Do it on purpose or don't do it at all.

Downloading Warcraft 2 PUDs and TCs was my favourite pasttime for a long while. Playing over the old Battle.Net back when it was owned by Sega. My friends would regale me with MMO tales from Ultima online and Clan Lord, and when I discovered I could download SNES roms instead of renting the games from the store, I had more disposable allowance.
