King of Fighters is interesting, but the KING of rehash.
Growing up with it shouldn't be a factor. Just like people who grew up with mario kart and played CTR think MK is better. But as a fact, that's just wrong, and CTR is the better game.
Same with All Mortal Kombat games (Rated M) and Street Fighter.

They are the same game with more characters and game modes. Said added characters, if seen before, have the same move sets.
Mortal Kombat is a much more enjyable game with a great story backing it up.

Soul Caliber is a more adventurous game.
Street Fighter 3 and 2 were not as slow as 4. 3rd strike being the best street fighter game period.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?
Even Soul Caliber adds, some noticable non-rehash changes. Hell, Street Fighter 4 is SLOWER than soul Caliber 4. That's just freaking sad.
