Fighting games, as in, competitive fighting games that take experts literally years to dismantle them and chart out ways to win against all manner of playstyles and thinking patterns, like Street Fighter IIIrd Strike or Virtua Fighter are probably the most psychological genre of video games out of all of them.
Street Fighter is a rehash series, that uses almost all the same moves from day one so you can button mash.

Pfft, I wasn't saying that shooting and fighting games don't require thinking. I should've been more specific and said "Strategy games", such as RTSs. My bad.
And trust me, I have tried button mashing in Mortal Kombat. Never ends well.
Now if were talking Japanese fighting games...

fighting games is lame.
which mortal kombat was it that has quan-chi? or something and he had telestomp. its buttons were so simple and you could pretty much smash anyone and everything with it...just about.
MK got old, fast
If you didn't know where the guard button was, and didn't attack backm then yes. Otherwise, NO!
