I don't know, that's just how I see it. It's hard to measure if a game is "good" or not, because people have different tastes in games. I myself am not a huge fan of first person shooters or fighters. Sure, they're fun for a while, but I get bored of them quickly. I prefer RPGs (Such as Persona and Golden Sun) and games that require strategical thinking. Someone else might be the exact opposite, and see RPGs as being long, boring, and stupid. It's all personal preference.

So, tl;dr, be creative when criticizing other peoples work, and be mindful of what other people think.

There's only so much that I can contribute to this conversation, as I haven't been part of the community at all. I've been lurking around for around a year, though I only made an account last night. However, just by reading this thread, I feel like I have a basic idea of the situation at hand. Soooo I'll try to contribute what I can.

In my opinion, a review (Or anything along the lines of speaking about someone's work) should be a work of creative criticism. I find that people often mistake 'criticism' for 'insult the work to your heart's content'. Criticism should be helpful and 'positive'. Even when remaining positive, it is possible to draw attention to the negatives, you just don't be a jerk about it. You don't just say "This game sucks", and leave it at that. Explain why features are lacking (Specifics are wonderful) and how they can be improved on.
