Skyborn

Of the commercial RPGMaker games I've played, this is definitely my favorite. Fantastic story and characters.

I don't see any issue with direct paths on an overworld map. It's one possible direction of many. Off-shooting paths are good if you're aiming for an overworld in which the player goes exploring and risks their survival for goodies, but if that's not what you're going for, this style is certainly fine. After all, Chrono Trigger went a similar route, and that's a great game.

Triax: The Rising

Haha, I forgot I made those previous posts.

I just went out of my way to get the RM2K RTP hooked up again just to play this. It's amazing how much RPGMaker has evolved since this game was made. I do remember this game being harder back then, and I'm glad it was adjusted to be more reasonable. I just made it past the ropes and to the big city that the warrior's from. That may be farther than I got back in the day--my memory's failing me. But wow, what a blast from the past.

Everything Turns Gray

I didn't quite finish the demo (got up to the Poisoned Lake). I'll admit that CRPGs generally ain't my thang, and that I'm a bit too lazy for games that require a fair share of customization and bombard with tutorials, but this was at least a 7.5/10 I'd say, keeping RPGMaker's limitations in mind (for example, I think this would be a much better 3D game, but that ain't happenin').

Also, lul @ the title screen music. Starting off with comedic relief, enh?

Hero's Realm

So this game's considered the gold standard, enh? Looking forward to playing.
