Cell phones.

I don't even know what my cellphone is exactly. It's a Nokia but that's about all I know. I paid 50$ for it about a year ago with a prepaid plan. I pay about 100$ a year for my plan and I never even use all of my minutes.

It was my first cellphone so I can't really compare it with anything else.

I once thought of getting an iPhone, but it was so expensive and I just knew I wouldn't use it that much. And if I want to get one for cheap I have to get a plan that would cost me at least more than three times what I pay right now per month.

Motivation sapping dungeons/maps... how do you deal with them?

The only time there has been a map I found unpleasant to make was when I designed the maps for an RPG one of my friends was making. One of the maps needed to be a giant room with a bunch of platforms and bridges between them. The bridges would open or close depending on switches being pressed.

The unpleasant part was that it took a long time to make and it didn't really feel special. There wasn't a lot of graphics to work with and the whole bridges opening and closing thing was annoying to plan. I had to plan a labyrinth through the platforms and bridges so that you would have to press the right switches to get from the entrance to the exit. The end result was a boring map that took forever to make and that no one enjoyed going through when they played the game.

As a player, that's exactly the type of map I find boring to have to go through. When you're not sure at all where you have to go and you end up going in circles while fighting the same enemies over and over again. I don't mind having a few paths to choose from and some leading to dead ends with treasure or something like that, but if I end up going back too often to the same places in the dungeon it's just not fun anymore.

Why are there not many Rpg Maker games with FMV's ?

I think animations could still be used for some things in RPG Maker games. For example, if you want to display a scene where a meteor crashes on a planet. While that could be done with 2D graphics in-game, it could also be done as an animation, and it's not too difficult to make something like that in 3D if you follow tutorials.

It's probably not done much though because even though it wouldn't be too difficult to make some types of animations, it would still take some time to learn the software, follow tutorials and create the scenes.

Yeah, it seems like it's putting emphasis on the words in the squares, so I'm getting something like this...

Help - And - Fami - War

Change the background colour so that it's just green and make it a bit darker so that the white text for the title sticks out more.

What are you jamming to?

I think he meant the previously posted songs which are Bulgarian I think.

I'm still listening to 2NE1...

Designing characters graphic boom!

What is your biggest question in life?

I used to ask myself questions about the meaning of life and the fate of the universe, but then I realized I would never have any answer, so I've decided to accept the unknown and the infinite possibilities of life and the universe.

Recently, the questions I ask myself have all been about what I'm doing with my life. I have a decent paying job, but it's extremely boring, and my life just doesn't seem to be advancing now that I've entered this "comfort zone". Thankfully, I gave in my resignation not too long ago and I only have three weeks of work left. I'll be leaving when I finish work to go visit the world.

How big is too big?

4kb is my limit. Anything above that I don't download.

No, I'm joking. Right now I guess it wouldn't really matter for me unless it's in the gigabytes. However, a few months ago I had one of the worst connections on the planet and even a 10mb game would take hours to download. I've since upgraded though, so it's no longer a problem.

It all comes down to the presentation of the game though. If the game is in the triple digits or more (in megabytes) then I won't be tempted to download it right away. I'll look at the presentation of the game to see if it's appealing enough to download (screenshots, trailers, and of course a demo can help with that). If it passes, then I'll download it no matter what size it is.

Hennamann Here!

Welcome to the site. I'm looking forward to playing your future masterpieces!

Greetings...

Welcome! You seem to have a few skills useful for making a game, so I'm sure you'll be able to make something interesting.

As for getting graphics for your game, the best thing to do if you're going to "borrow" some is to try and get graphics from a game not many people know. You might have to rip them yourself, but it's not too hard. Otherwise http://spriters-resource.com/ has a lot of stuff from many different games, but you'll have to organize them into actual sheets for RPG Maker (unless someone already did it).
