Youtuber RPG Collaboration Game (Maybe?)

It came to me in a dream in the bathroom: someone should make a Dragon Quest style RPG starring everyone's favorite Youtubers! That dream may become a reality... with your help!

So here we go...

What I've got:

Characters:

A list of possible characters that you can recruit to your starting party are as follows: Dodger, Egoraptor, Markiplier, Strippin, Jesse Cox, Pewdiepie, Danny Sexbang, JonTron, with many more to come should the idea come to fruition (and if we can get enough characterization to flesh out each character).

Stats:

HP will instead be referred to as "DailyViews". The more damage you take, the closer you come to being Unsubbed (this game's equivalent to the traditional Death status). MP is Energy which will be used for skills (Likely referred to as "Content"). Attack, Defense, Intellect and Agility will instead be *name pending for Attack*, Endurance, Humor and Activity. YoutubeSub is just the character's Level.

Why These Stat Names?:

• Endurance in the face of negative criticism (which is essentially what's going to be focing down your daily views (HP). The thicker your skin, the less you're affected by attacks.

• Humor aiding in the effectiveness of your Content (skills), which nets you the most benefit for the amount of Energy (MP) you put into creating it (Casting Cost).

• Activity being how often you get your turn, which is rather self-explanatory.

Abilities:

These will be based not only around the content these Youtubers put out, but also their mannerisms and what they're best known for. Dodger's current abilities are Coffeh Time which increases Activity and Cat Mom which is an AoE skill that send cats flying at all enemies.

Arin's current abilities (as displayed in the screenshot) are Toilet Humor, Not-So-Grump (Rank 1 of 3 Elemental Spell; the second and third being Grump and Best Grump respectively) and Animation, which would be a still image of a monster graphic sliding in from one side of the screen, jumping up and down on the enemy and then disappearing on the other side.

Setting:

The tried and true method of taking real-world people and thrusting them into a fantasy world would be them all receiving a "magic e-mail" that sucks them into the computer and spits them back out in said fantasy world.

Some NPCs (this world's "fanbase") will tell you important information on how to advance and such while most other less-helpful NPCs might just make cringe-worthy references depending on who's in the party. This is to reflect the real life occurrence of being stopped by a fan during a convention just for them to spout "Release the Bees!" (a Dodger reference) before walking away.

How you can help:

I'd love to be able to spread the word to various Youtubers, get their permission to be included in the game and their take on what they want their characters to be like and how they speak, but a more realistic goal is to find normal people like you to help add to a bank of references and mannerisms that can be used in this game. I'd prefer it if we made it as less facepalm-y as possible, so let's try to be clever with this.

Also, this would be thrown together a lot quicker if everyone who participated threw in a dungeon or a town and we smooshed the resulting content into a game (kind of like the Chain Game format only without each one building off the last).

All of the graphics displayed above are placeholders, of course.

What do you think?

This petition is too damn important to be ignored. (trigger warning)

I know we like to have fun and make yucks here and all but this goes far beyond the actions or lifespans of any of us. Let your voice be heard and help raise awareness and support for governments around the world to create laws protecting those who may fall victim to vengeful actions of a past relationship. I've lived every day of my life in the shadow of how such painful acts can affect one's life. My own dear mother was the victim of sexual assault and I'd do anything to seek justice for her and those like her who have been and currently are being taken advantage of by some soulless creep who acts only for themselves.

Please take this seriously. Something must be done.

Degica Midweek (Steam sales up to 85% off)

Check it out, dudes. I just bought me RMXP for a whole $5. If there's anything that you've been waiting for on Steam under this category, now would be the time to grab it.

Seeking visible advertisement business partners

Welcome, potential associate. Let me start off by saying thank you for taking the time to view this document. It is because of people like you that the successful infrastructure of capitalism can thrive, offering jobs and steady incomes to families across the world.

The Product:

Feral Solidarity is a traditional RPG designed in the RPG Maker VX Ace program that allows the user to step into the lives of two paladins who have been turned into simple house pets by the experimentation of one known as the “wicked man”, and who have been cast out into the world to wallow in their pitiful forms. Survival is the name of the game as you go from one place to the next overcoming obstacles and gaining power-ups in the form of transformations that grant you various field abilities and base stat alterations.

On your quest you will find many who, like yourself, were once human but are now beasts of the field with whom you must form bonds of community with in order to thrive in a harsh, relentless world where even a morning’s meal is a matter of life and death.

Your goal is simply this: regain your humanity by any means necessary.

How You Can Help:

The foundation of this business relies solely on the committed advertising of the product, Feral Solidarity. Your place in this exchange is to create content (most preferably via Youtube) that will aid in making Feral Solidarity a household name.

Prerequisites:

• High-end recording software and hardware to properly capture the merits of the product.

• Convenient method of payment such as Paypal.

Payment Rate:

Each associate (up to three at a time) will earn 20% ($1) per sale for the length of their employment. Payment will be distributed at the end of the month. Past and present documentation displaying the monthly sales and profits will be made available during each payment session. Employment can only be compromised upon the acquisition of a new associate after the three available spots are filled.

Future Business Opportunities:

As an indie game developer, it is in my best interest to continue honing my craft and releasing solid products for the populace. That being said, the next business venture (Tales from Zilmurik) is already underway, with completion scheduled for 2016. Once released, a secondary business opportunity following this model will be made available should you wish to support it.

Real life fan art first.

For those who are familiar with PressHeartToContinue/DexterityBonus/Dodger/Dooger, this should be a familiar face. The cats are meant to be Sherlock and Watson.

RIP Windell Middlebrooks

2015 is shaping up to be another year of celebrity deaths, but this one was taken long before his time. He was only 36. He had character and humor and brought smiles and laughs to millions, and he will be missed.

"This is why we're here."

Originally submitted Feb. 22, 2015 and has nothing to do with the passing of Spock.

An artist contemplates mortality, dreams, and limitations.

It becomes increasingly obvious with every passing day: I'm not going to live forever. Whether it's a reflection on my own mortality or the near-death-like experience of seeing the end of a dream that, for one cause or another, seems to be being torn out of my grasp by circumstances out of my control, I quickly come to realize what is truly important in life: the legacy we leave behind. I don't want my life to end - this dream to fade - now; not before I can bring my dearest pursuit to reality.

I'm not ready to lay down and die... not yet. There is still so much I want to do.

Like an organ that makes up my very being, my greatest endeavor in game design is something I am not willing to sacrifice for the sake of anything else. This may sound narcissistic and crazy, but fearing the end has made me realize how empty my life would be without it. After having spent the past decade with the undying desire to bring this to life, I've sworn that I will live on until my story reaches its planned conclusion, no matter what the status of my well-being is when that occurs.

But I know that simple determination cannot keep my heart beating and that there will come opportunities for the hand of Death to land upon my shoulder. We here understand what it's like to lose one of our own during the height of their development. Our own dear Aten (creator of Final Fantasy Dreams) was taken before his time in a tragic car accident before he could complete what most would deem his magnum opus, Legend of Vanadia. There are many others who we have lost in other areas of the world as well, such as the legendary The Old Nite of Runescape fame who succumbed to lung cancer in 2006 who many remember as a kind and generous soul who was always present when his friends needed him.

Knowing that our time on this Earth will always be shorter than we expect, we must make the most of our time and realize the dreams we cling to, because all that we are after death is that which we leave behind. No matter how silly your games may be, never stop creating. Even if you never strike it rich and become famous for your works, never let that star burn out.

Please, Lord over all creation, if it be your will, grant me the strength and time to realize my dreams. Amen.

Embrace the creative spark of those around you and prosper, fellow game designers. May our passion burn brighter than the sun.

This was originally going to be an article, but it was deemed not-up-to-snuff.

[RM2K] XP computer crashing playing 2k games?

In all my years with RPG Maker, I've never had this problem. Hell, in all my years of farting around on a computer, I've never had this problem with any applications of any kind. Why now?

This isn't your average fare application crash, no, this is a straight up "I'm going to bed, nighty night" computer failure. The damn thing shuts itself off while I'm gaming. I tried playing in windowed mode to see if that'd help, but nope. Now this has me worried that it'll be gunning for RM2k3 next, being the one I still use and intend to use for as long as development on Tales from Zilmurik should take and for as long as I want to go back and play it without having to worry about compatibility problems. I count myself fortunate that I was able to squeeze Mystic Dawn out before this whole shebang.

"But Corfaisus, why not just use RMVX Ace?" No! Fuck that noise! Even if I had all the resources to do so, fuck no. Fiddling around with Ace is like rolling a handful of thumbtacks: blood, sweat and tears with nothing to show for it (I'm surprised that - even with all the sacrifices I made - I was even able to get this done).

~ Ah yeah, baby, gimme summa dat!

Who the hell uses layers anyway, right, Enterbrain? Peeps in 95 got along well without them. Midis? Oggs are the way of the future, dude.

EDIT: Do you think McAfee might be the problem? I hate the fucking thing because it slows down my computer substantially and I'm starting to wonder if it recently got an update that just hates the old RPG Makers. Maybe? I dunno. Even Ad-Aware popped up with false positives with the RPG_RT.exe files of Rm2k3 games that I'd download. Maybe that's it? I'd really like to think so.

Video Games: Interesting Premise; Terrible Execution

Let's kick nostalgia in the shin by discussing games that had interesting concepts and would have been timeless classics if it hadn't been for their shoddy programming or an overarching design flaw that ruined everything.

I'd prefer to keep this to games that you've actually played and can praise in certain respects but can logically conclude that the game hasn't just aged poorly, but was bad to begin with.

As always, I'll start:

Solstice
Console: NES
Year: 1990

The game is centered around finding different magical items and overcoming perilous obstacles in an isometric world filled with beautiful music and distinct graphics. Each time you find an item is like a small reward grouped with a beautiful illustration of what it is you just picked up. There's very little to dislike about this game... until you realize that isometric games with floor traps don't work when there's absolutely no indication of depth. Seeing as this is the only point of view you're going to be experiencing the game from, it quickly becomes an unplayable mess as you fall/bump into your doom when you would have otherwise been okay. Consolation prize goes to invisible tiles in a room filled with spikes that you have to take leaps of faith to find where they are.
