Top Ten Topic: Robots, Droids, Cyborgs Oh my!
Now now, don't call him a dolt.
trance: Most of the people here are grown-up and don't obsess about Dr. Who's little Daleks.

2007 Misaos
Heh heh. Sorry, I'm just a sore loser for other people's games, and I hold strange personal vendettas. :-*
I was surprised that the banners on the top of rmxp.org were a day+ late, and that's really what I was trying to say. You need people on your staff that have no life to check websites across the web and update that kind of stuff.
Nobody really cares that much about RM*/has enough integrity, though, so whatever.
To be honest, I didn't love Master of the Wind, but what I played (through the deluxe two-part version or whatever, I believe) was solid.
--this rambling has been brought to you by the icon of questionable sanity, Craze--

Shit man I haven't played many of these at all. :\
We know, Mr. Laxius Power 2007.
(I tried to like rmxp.org. I really did. But the LOLEBAY LAST-MINUTE MISAO RUSH is just lame, guys :<)
I have 1000 wii points burning a hole in my pocket...
Alternatively, he could get Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker for DS, which is like Pokemon except fun.
Anyway, I second Wonderboy.

Hard Parts of Game Making?
I probably only get stuff done now because of Karsuman beating me up. Of course, it'd be helpful if he actually played that last file he made me create....
Cough.
Balancing games comes easily (and is fun/important) to me, put definately not for some people-- which sucks, because game balance can be a major flaw!
Motivation also really isn't a problem anymore between Karsuman and dream project creation.
I have lots of fun with mapping, especially with VX tiles, so again, that's not really a problem (though it was in 2K/3...).
My dialouge is really, really bad... but it's not hard for me to create bad dialouge!
The hardest part, I suppose, is playing my games. I always play my games while working on them, but after I release something, I can't touch it. I tried replaying Versus Xerza yesterday and couldn't even make it to the first dungeon. For some reason, releasing a demo (or full game, in Versus Xerza's place!) really irks me.
Maybe I should just make lots of one-map games....

Versus Xerza 01: Ultimate Showdown
Oh hey, you finished it.
Good job, Him!
I can't quite figure out whether or not it was a good thing that it ended, though. I mean, it had to given the restrictions of the maker, but... yeah. Clarification, please?

Linear Stories in Video Games
For RM games, I believe that a short game with a set "tree" (branches leading to branches leading to endings) would have plenty of replayability and be feasible to create alone.
I enjoy linear stories with character choices that matter; FF5 and its crazy job system comes to mind here, as does DQ8's skill point system.
As for my own projects, I'm all for truly linear gameplay. As in, you go from point a to point b and that is it. You cannot go back to point a, point c can only be reached from point b and you cannot pass GO (do not collect $200). In fact, my current project actually takes place on a line.
...figuratively, of course.
So, yeah. I enjoyed my first ten hours of Oldblivion but I doubt I'll ever touch it again. Craze is a linear dude.

A Better Way of Storing Plot Notes/Outline?
If you have a Mac (for you true nerds out there with both major OS's), I suggest Macjournal... pretty sure that it comes with the system. It seems to be like Notepad ++ from Chemist's description, and it has some neat features like background opacity so that you can see through the note-taking area and read a document underneat.
Hooray for run-on sentences.
*Craze checks out Notepad ++.
