I think the reason why I loved RPGMaker is... not really that I wanted to make games. I think I was more into the storytelling aspect of games.
games are games. just do your best to innovate your storytelling and do it in a way only games can. :)

mctricky, i'd just include the option in your game to swap between the golden and white fonts. i have a hard time distinguishing colors and the white is FAR easier for me to read.
edit: and DEFINITELY the bigger one. the smaller one is painful
learn to code or bribe a friend. changing a font is not difficult, and building that confidence will help you make worthwhile projects

looks sick, great use of the rtp -- that saturated distant water is hurting my eyes, though. consider making it look distant using a purple tint instead of just a deeper blue!
