Dear Mariko

I get that error too and I just downloaded version d. I have to wait 20 mins before I can re-download.

EDIT: Will try version e when I can

Also, on the title screen having up/down move the cursor left/right, but left/right doing nothing is really weird.

Afterlife: The Second Dimension

Oh, a grammar fix version. That should tie up the only problem I had with the game. Thanks, guys. I can easily convince more friends to play this now.

zz The Room of Eyes

That's cool. I've run into the Khas error in pretty much any game that uses the script and it never dawned on me to look for a pattern (there's a lot of drek games so usually I'd just roll my eyes and chalk it up as another buggy game).

Funny enough I didn't notice you were the dude that did Memories until just now. I played that one too some time ago.

Anyway, good luck with future development.

zz The Room of Eyes

The similarities to "Hello? Hell... o?" by Tachi are abundant but that's not a bad thing. I'd say "Hello? Hell... o?" is the better of the two, both for overall presentation and scares. But for something that was chucked together it's not bad at all. Better than many of the recent horror things I've played from here.

Bugs:
When getting the good ending there's a black box in the middle of the screen (to accommodate the upcoming graphics, it seems) but it feels like it's not supposed to be there until the actual images show.

The game seems to freeze when I open the curtains. Leaving it would sometimes throw up an error window about Khas lighting script. Were you meaning to have randomly selected pics appear each time you open them?

Miss

The graveyard scene appears in a flash before the warning does.

"This game may contain grammar mistakes." can be fixed by asking for english-speaking beta testers on the many RM forums around the internet.

I also get the "not implemented" bug and was quick to spam my ESC key but not before my system put up a warning. People who don't know much about computers might think you gave them a virus or something. I know the game's clean but you have to be extra careful for stuff like that.

Since you knew about this bug and didn't test further, I'd say that in it's current condition this game shouldn't have been released. Don't get impatient. It only kills your reputation. Take your time and get a good, working game done first. If something seems broken then try another computer, ask some online friends if you're tapped out on r/l ones or see if people on forums can help. I googled the problem and found plenty of active discussions about it from other games, so it's just impatience or laziness and both will kill a developer's reputation quickly.

Best of luck on your final version.

Good Bye Rebeca

The first thing that struck me was that running is completely silent and walking sounds like she's wearing giant army boots.

Also, it would benefit a lot from letting a native English speaker correct the script. You're putting in a fantastic effort but you need to ask yourself if your effort is worth losing players over. I gave this to 7 friends and all of them declined playing it after the first few minutes due to the English.

We all have to learn somewhere and we can't control where we're born but we can make use of the resources around us to make better things. It's one of our rights as humans.

Bugs, exploits and other problems:
-If you're sure an enemy will catch you, do something to trigger a text box. They can't hurt you while you're reading but they'll keep moving around you and you can exit the text box and escape when you're ready.
-At least in the showers area, if you die it will retain the red tint even after you revive. Now is a great chance to search around for money without having to worry about the darkness hiding things. Just ignore the persistent BGS that stays too.

-In the residential area, showers and engineering there are some SE's that seem to trigger randomly. I haven't found out what's up with that yet. Likely just a botched attempt at horror sounds.
-Checking the toilet talks about towels? Might be intentional but if so then it's weird.
-I'd sometimes get a "Script `Khas Awesome Light Effects' line 362: RGSSError occurred. disposed bitmap" error when loading and it would crash.
-There's a high-speed chaser in Engineering. He can't seem to reach you but if you get close he'll still kill you. It doesn't give you the chance to revive though, even if you have plenty of money.

Little gripes:
-Inconsistent use of Japanese honourifics and the random Japanese word thrown in is really lame, reminding me of a 13-year-old at an anime convention. I like anime too. I've been watching for most of my life. But it's still really jarring since I can't help but hear the lines said in the voice of a little twerp with a Naruto headband.
-The main character's walk sprite looks weird around her face and the sprite itself is pretty terrible. Other games have child sprites that look ok and are still clearly child-sized compared to the other NPCs.
-After saving, the menu defaulting to Title is annoying. Normally if you save in a horror game, you're just doing it for cautionary purposes. Defaulting to Continue makes far more sense for a horror game.
-"500mph/s"? I'd facepalm if it later makes you use an EMP Pulse too.
-See a high-speed creature just out of clear view? That's really scary so you move cautiously and get ready to run. See a puzzle that also suggests you'll be dealing with said creature soon, possible under a difficult environment? That jacks the fear way up. But then the game hits you with lame 4th wall jokes, completely destroying a great opportunity for atmosphere.

Good points:
-Sci-fi horror. Always bonus points.
-Main character isn't some `roid machine space marine. That always makes sci-fi horror better. I like my horror characters either fully vulnerable or outclassed.
-She doesn't talk to strangers, has trouble with some big words and how some dialogues terminate in natural ways with her not wanting to talk to them again instead of just repeating the same lines over and over (though it seems like it could use another pass or two)
-Good tilesets.
