A Very Long Rope to the Top of the Sky
@Housekeeping
Certainly not by that name, no, but it did sound like something they witnessed themselves - even if many generations ago. I suppose the divine retribution reimagining works if they saw them as angels though.
As for Weiss, that's an excellent point - one could even argue that Ivy had caught on enough of the nuances by the time the records are encountered simply by being constantly surrounded by the language. I can't see Weiss being a patient or thorough teacher either, so the language would most likely end up as a crossover between the original and something that would let the Lydians understand their god's will.

Honestly, if I consider the lore perhaps the better question to ask would be how
EDIT: Come to think of it, the Somnians make references to God's Eye... Did they find records of their ancestors as well, or am I missing something?
the current residents can so easily understand ancient Lydian (records, time loop rooms, Sylvia and Solomon...), considering that both races were pulled from a time of partial coexistence long before that dialect would have even developed.

Fair enough, haha! Honestly I kind of figured that would be the case, but something about the world you portray just tempts to ask these things - which in my opinion shows the people's interest in the world as more than just the game's setting, which I believe to be no mean feat! ^^

One thing I've always wondered about was what the soul tears are - some are found, some materialize out of thoughts, others are given willingly - sometimes by people who actually sound like they know what they do.
Given the pond's nature, I see two options:
The second curious thing is how the pond's very room exactly fits the amount of tears you can get, as if it was originally designed to view exactly those tears from the very beginning - I will admit this one's probably just a gameplay mechanic or simplification and that's perfectly fine, but the first question could have some nice backstory. ^^
Given the pond's nature, I see two options:
1) Saecelium crystals storing a person's memories instead of a window in time - the vast capacity is outweighed by them falling apart after a single use.
2) Artifacts of a different nature entirely that coincidentally work as catalysts for the pond.

Math about Rope!Earth! Has semi-spoilers...
Actually, the figure you're looking for is much higher than this - your result would be a mere six days' worth, while the desired result with those numbers is 2,700 km - a much more believable size, to be sure.

I'd definitely have to say that the difficulty increases as follows:
First two Temple bosses.
Final Castle boss.
Final Temple boss.
Though depending on your builds the second Temple boss might roughly tie with the final Castle boss.
Beware, the last one pulls out all the stops and is a big difficulty spike from all the others, but I can personally vouch it's possible.

Good question there, I might add on to it a bit:
If saecelium has to be handled carefully since any movement or impact could trigger unintended side effects, how are portable saecelium devices made stable? I'd imagine there has to be some kind of treatment, or it would be akin to carrying armed grenades around.

I guess the final few levels just add a few stat points to tilt the scales in your favor, but then again that seems to be just what I needed against such a beast.
A Very Long Rope to the Top of the Sky
Yeah, I can imagine! But just out of curiosity, did you have any rough idea about what level the party should be to beat him? I'm sure it could've been worse, since I assume the highest level is 99, but I did it at 89 and it was still as hard as they come!
A Very Long Rope to the Top of the Sky
Well, Housekeeping, I have to admit this was a tough fight if I ever fought one, but after taking a break and getting a few more levels, I finally beat
The Eater.
Just looking back at all the consumables I used up on him, I can't help but think that it's a good thing that budget issues are a thing of the past once you're able to farm ToEE.
I'm at the point where his regular attacks or skills posed negligable threat - even the oneshots can be handled fairly well since i could keep the rest of the party in good shape.
That final stage, however... suffice to say that I considered it unbeatable for a good while because of the sheer amount of the love debuffs - I mean, there were times when three members were out of order because of it at the same time - but in the end I sort of formed a strategy against that too... Not sure if it was the intended one, but it worked well enough:
I avoided group healing as much as I could whenever someone was in love, and let them get KO'd so they could be revived good as new - at times, it vastly cut down on their downtime.
I definitely enjoyed the challenge, may have a look at new game plus sometime! ^^
EDIT: oops, double post...
