I'm a very big fan of music of japanese role playing games for it has influenced me throughout my life since my early childhood. The day I saw Nobuo on the stage in front of me I decided I too will become a composer one day. It has been 9 years since that day.

You can't find my works anywhere right now, but that will change very soon this year as I will be contributing several original tracks for RMN Music Pack 2.

RMN Hearthstone FIRESIDE

I played it from beta to a little before Goblins & Gnomes, then for like three days after Grand Tournament dropped.

Game is a money-sucking RNG-fest with great presentation and boring/samey matches. I have no idea how it got ESPORTSIFIED. I also can't really stand blizzard, and a lot of that dismay probably comes from how poorly they've treated the HS playerbase.

I agree that at some points the RNG factor has been frustratingly high and that certain cards and decks have dominated the ranked play too much, but now that they're changing the format set up by introducing standard and wild, and cycling the over powered Naxxramas and GvG cards out of the rotation it seems very promising and fresh again.

Though we'll find out how well it works in a feew weeks once The Old Gods is out. D:

RMN Hearthstone FIRESIDE

I was meaning to do this in the past... but I shall do it now!

Hearthstone players unite! (... I know that at least Mawk plays...)

Does anyone here play in the EU bracket? What class do you prefer? What are you going to play in Whispers of the Old Gods?

I was just playing arena and a hunter had lethal on me. I had almost conceded on my previous turn, but I just decided to wait him to kill me instead. Well, instead he plays a discover minion and passes the turn, and I get to kill him...? Is it possible he miss clicked the pass turn button after discover? But oh man...

Forgot that one. It came to my mind just a moment ago, too.

Questionable Ads

You tend to run into those on a hosting service sites and it's easy to confuse the proper download links with the cheap adds that install some malware crap on your computer. I usually feel really iffy about any sites that have these mixed up in the layout.

Oh hey, more musicians! Welcome aboard! Good to have you!

I checked your soundcloud profile! It has some pretty nice stuff!

We have a couple of music events going on at the moment and more coming! Check them out if you're up for making moar sounds:

Questionable Ads

I just happened to log out and disable adblock, and I noticed there's adds like these on the site:

I'm not sure how healthy it is to have stuff like that around here, though I don't know how much you can control the ads displayed on the site.

Seriously, though, the reason the last one was so good was because the musicians could do what they wanted. Forcing them to adhere to a theme kinda defeats the purpose of getting really cool music from people who want to experiment and/or just have fun, especially when they might want to do one thing and be forced into doing something they're not good at. Say, someone who's great at bright, chirpy music being forced into making dark instead - of course they're going to not want to do that. I wouldn't blame them. Adding limitations removes people who might otherwise want to take part.

Frankly, I think it's a stupid idea to go for a 'theme'.

We're not going for a singular theme. This topic is here to make it easier for us to take requests, hear wishes and to get ideas. No one is forced to compose for a specific theme.

Requesting was part of the previous music pack as well and Snowy_Fox, who won both Judges' Pick award and Voters' Pick award, even fulfilled some of the requests.

We have a wide array of composers partaking these events, so I think we can afford the risk of hearing our the audience a bit, too.

Maybe you should wait on this until you have solidified your theme/genre of the next RMN Music Pack?

I basically believe that the cover art should represent what you are getting, and the last one worked particularly well because most of the music was kind of RPG themed, but since you also have that thread on genres and everything, we don't really know what we're doing for this next pack yet.

So those are my thoughts; nothing wrong with waiting. :)

Yeah, if we were to compose just for a single theme and setting! But the idea is still to compose for all kind of rpg settings, just like the last time!

I don't think anything prevents us putting all the varied type of music in one pack!

What exactly describes "classic JRPG" style?

Oh, yeah, that could vary. I was personally thinking of the anime-esque or adventurous fantasy setting that combines modern instrumentation with orchestral and synth sounds. And generally the soundscapes of 90s J-RPGs in general, while modern ones do also carry their legacy.

It's not easy to put your finger on a singular defining factor, but I think there were many tracks in the first music pack that fitted this description.

You could also think about the styles of Uematsu, Yasunori, Sakuraba and Konami's composers that composed for the PS1 era, for example.
