I'm a very big fan of music of japanese role playing games for it has influenced me throughout my life since my early childhood. The day I saw Nobuo on the stage in front of me I decided I too will become a composer one day. It has been 9 years since that day.

You can't find my works anywhere right now, but that will change very soon this year as I will be contributing several original tracks for RMN Music Pack 2.

The Final Fantasy XIII topic

I've been reading some reviews, and most are stating the linearity of the game being the main issue - the lack of villages, npcs, and minigames.

While I enjoy those bits in RPGs too, especially in the likes of such as Suikoden for example, linearity isn't necessarily a bad thing, if the story is epic and draws you in - which is what most of the FF 13 reviews have been stating, too.

Many reviews stated that FF 13 is far better if it's considered as other type of game, than traditional RPG. Some also pointed out it's pretty much dungeon crawler-like as most of the gameplay just takes place in dungeons, with only story bits in between.

It doesn't make me think it's going to be bad game, still - just different, once again.

The reviews also promise 60-80 hours of main story line + 64 optional missions. They're also stating that the game does get a bit less linear in midway point, while it's still supposed be more epic story-wise on the second half. Now that doesn't really sound so bad.

Edit: Also, Rpg Fan review:
A final, hopefully illustrative comparison: FFXIII is sort of like that really hot chick with the amazing body who may be fun to hang around but doesn't grow on you that much. Infinite Space, 2009's best original RPG by my count, is like the awkward girl with the thick glasses and bad skin. She's got a chip on her shoulder and you have to get over your initial impression, but once you do, you realize that she's the coolest and most interesting person you've ever met, and ultimately she becomes not just a potential conquest but a lifelong friend.

Breaktime's over. (Also Boss lists y/n)

It would definitely be a cool idea to have a boss list, so people can check stuff out from the page, if they're stuck or having difficulties. Let's finish the in-game bugs and stuff first, tho!

What comes to myself, I've been completing the maps of the game, but I guess I could also cut up the pace!
I have roughly 14 maps left anymore, plus those used for cutscenes.

Once all that is done, I'll direct the rest of the game, then put out some updates, such as images and videos.
And of course as soon as our testers are done testing, and we're done fixing - the full game!

Shush! This game is ancient! =P

Lennon: Haven't the jRPGs been that for the past 5 years, or far longer, anyway? And in quality I think this doesn't come too short handed in comparison to those.

Anyway, Snow sounded a bit like Kamina to me, too, but I checked it out and the voice actor wasn't the same - at least for him.

That's ridiculous thing to say. How could you possibly tell whether it has substance, or not, yet?

I added the E3 09 trailer to the first post. It shows some great premise. The characters just seem to have so much more depth than before.

Woohoo! I know i am.
i hope the english voice actors pull it off(i know, out of all the things i could pick out...)
I just checked some of the trailers on the site ( http://na.square-enix.com/ff13/ ) and the english voice actors seemed generally pretty good. At least Snow's, Hope's, and the hawt dark haired woman in the later part of the video seemed very pleasing choices.

@StormriderAngel: I can't see how not having a caterpillar system would effect the game at all. In FF 12 it was more important mechanics-wise, considering the leader-system with the gambits. Also, you can see the enemies on maps I think, but when you encounter them it throws you in "another dimension." So basically, it's almost the same where it comes to how the battle encounters occur.

Edit: Shit! The trailer... The third one in the row on the site. It's pretty damn good.
