Americans are stupid?
yeah those people are "stupid" in the sense that our education system is shit, but really, sampling bias and shit. like, these are all people in the same area and the people who could answer questions correctly are not shown while the same people who cannot answer questions are shown over and over. i am a skeleton
OH AND ALSO the guy who didn't know where kfc came from I found completely reasonable. companies have false names all the time (hello water bottle industry) so not being sure of where kfc comes from is wiser to me than just assuming"K=KENTUCKY IT COMES FROM KENTUCKY"
the point of the british video is not "OH BUT LOOK AT THE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS AHAHAHHA OWNED BRITAIN" but rather "you cannot say 'americans' are stupid because of what a select few americans say on camera." rather we are stupid because of the way we vote. it is genuinely retarded that the people who made the britain video were asking children though

I hate when things get over explained..
but is it followed by 25 more minutes of doing nothing because that is the only way it could equal golden sun 1's opening

I don't imagine how it could be worse. like, have you ever played through the opening of golden sun?

your irrelevant points actually lead into your statement that bad writing in rm games is there to make up for a limitation of some kind. it's not. it's there because a. people are lazy and/or b.people do not know how to write.
it actually doesn't take that long to come up with a solution to "LockeZ's Suitcase," neither does it require an overhaul of anything. except maybe...your imagination *rainbows* in fact your declaration that it requires a long amount of time to overcome the obstacle of "facesets with different expressions" is insulting. please pm me an apology. professionals do waste time (????) on this kind of thing and jesus it's just putting in some effort someone come murder me
okay so not actually anything relevant then. thanks for making me write this stupid post. it took a literal eternity

Edit: Obviously, writing characters who don't ramble isn't something that takes an eternity and requires a skilled team. I was talking about the side-effect problems you get if you take all those kinds of things away.

a video game is not a play set in "shakespeare era." you are the creator. if you can dream it, you can do it -ulillillia
you don't have to have someone mention a suitcase being unzipped. you can
make an animation
make a sound effect
you can see facial expressions as well. It's not that hard to edit a sprite or if you want to go above and beyond, make your own facesets with expressions and stuff such as "rhue-mad" and "rhue-very mad" and "rhue-i am very pissed off about this!!" if you then couple these "setfaces" with "dialogue not penned by someone unfrozen from a block of ice" the reader can generally tell the tone of what the character is saying. you don't really need to show every subtle action to make something engaging or 'real' to be honest.
I am going on a tangent now so don't read into this or even read this at all or anything but I am reading a book series now called "a song of ice and fire" perhaps you have heard of it?? *walks forward three steps, turns thirty degrees, removes own head and slam dunks it into garbage can* a lot of the time detail of the environments and even the physical appearances of characters is kept to a minimum while more emphasis is put on dialogue and character interaction. my favorite character in the whole series is a guy by the name of "rooster bolton." he is very interesting and pretty much steals any scene he's in including the ones where he's not actually present and people just mention him and yet I have no idea what the guy looks like beyond the fact that he has pale eyes and is of average build.

Solar Panel Roads
alternately put the solar panels somewhere where people do not drive over them and also remove "standard road removal" from the equation entirely.

do not cater to the lowest denominator. this is the equivalent of selling fast food.
that said I don't pay attention to a lot of rpg dialogue because interesting, engaging dialogue is pretty rare even in commercial games.

Rewards for good blog post.
author=LockeZauthor=Abdel McCrackI don't think there's any sort of problem with this kind of blog post. The biggest problem our blogs have is that every time someone makes a post that's less than a page, everyone bashes it for being "pointless". What does that even mean? It's not like it's penis enlargement spam.
I'm guessing you don't quite get it, most blogs are things like that: http://rpgmaker.net/games/2842/blog/4294/
The blog's page existence does not change that, as it means most blog posts are that sort of content, which is to say; barely any content. Who will want to check them out if most of them are just that?
Blog posts don't need to be epic. You're not going to have some vital and huge change every day. But it's still good to post every day. It's just like blogging on Facebook or Twitter or Livejournal or anywhere else. The blog is just a way for you to talk about what you did each day. If you're not going to use the blog, then don't make one. The only blogs I dislike are the ones that don't update.
The only problem we have is that we have a list of all the latest blog posts from *everyone*. Such a list is pointless and awful. Imagine if Livejournal or Facebook did that. No one would read that either - it would be equally pointless and awful.
Therefore, I think the list of latest blog posts should be removed from the site. Each person's blog is for their own game, not for the entire community. And only people who check a blog for updates should see those updates. A better system might be if the front page only showed posts from blogs that the user is currently following. Something like Facebook's "recent activity" page that shows all the latest posts your friends have made.
by "every time" do you mean "once" and also your comparison to twitter horrifies me
