VANITY

I had to stop playing. There are a lot of things in this game to like, but it just doesn't seem fully fleshed out. For example, the character Alex is supposed to be a wealthy man of means who entertains guests in his lavish home, has a gorgeous wife, and an undeniable sense of vanity.

And that barely comes through the story and especially not through his dialogue. Honestly, I thought he was a detective's assistant. He doesn't act like a man accustomed to being in control or even a man that's "new money". Had we understood his character from the beginning the context would have been much clearer. In fact all of the characterizations are there but come off as flat in the end.

I think I kind of understand what you were going for, I liked several of the world elements, although why demons were running around a rich man's home confused me to no end (were they pets? Why were they there? In a normal RPG we understand that monsters are in a dungeon because it's a dungeon, s'okay. Here, I didn't understand the reason). I like the concept of the essences and especially the idea behind Awakening (it was very logical).

This felt a bit like a comic book from Image and had the same rushed feel. But you have time to settle down and let us explore the world. You don't have a page count on this or have to make room for ads.

I really did want to like this and get through it because even the concept of stopping an apocalypse was engaging - but the story is missing a certain spark that's hard to pin point (although the music, maps, and tone are all well done)

Desert Nightmare (English Translation)

This game was one of the best complete horror games for RPG maker...just, wow.

It had just about every great element a survival horror, or a scary game in general, should have. Tense situations, not know who you can trust, creepy stuff out of nowhere. I would love to see more of Kelven's games (I did check out the website this game originated from). He apparently puts quite a bit of work into them, with the custom graphics and stories - sadly I don't know German and sitting with a german-to-english dictionary is...not palatable.

But I thank you for translating this great game and applaud Kelven for making it.

Obelisk: Devilkiller

In the end I was able to finish the game (the error appeared MUCH less frequently when played full screen) and I LOVED it!

I thought it was a lot of fun, once you get into the little system you created -

You get major props from me! ^_^

(I especially enjoyed how you made each character different in their own way, including having a little back story)

Obelisk: Devilkiller

I get the same error message as Arlyeon.

It's a shame because the game is interesting and a good challenge but almost unplayable because of that error (and it's only ever happened outside of the Ogre cave. Once beyond there is when the error occurs each time)

Lorelai, Queen

I thought this was a lot of fun. A very cavalier kind of game feel, good sets, and I like that you give the player reason to kind of investigate every nook and cranny (I ended up with a nice little stash of money...I only wish to spend it like a true shopoholic, hehe)

And I like the characters. I mean...I love court intrigue...anything. I just love courtly dramas so the two knights, Liam and Sir-MasculinityCrisis, didn't interest me as much as the ice bitch queen and warm husband (day and night motif?)

I am noticing a fairy tale kind of gender bias though - good mother dies, evil stepmother, older cold female, 2 idealistic and yet grounded females (Marian and Lorelai) and men who are almost resoundingly pliable in the face a world populated by powerful living in a patriarchal society. That all said, I'm not judging this as for or against women or a type of woman or men- but I do want to say that I'm interested to see what you DO with that theme because it appears as if that's a subject you want to tackle almost DIRECTLY.

Beyond courtly dramas I am also a fan of subversive cultural critiques ^.^

Amelia Earhart might just google-whip you in the face if you don't leave.

WARNING RECEIVED!

Princess Princess

Just played this game for the first time last night and beat it. Man was that last battle tough. But I wanted to say how much I ENJOYED the fact that the game was so simple! I know people like sprawling epics but it was nice to be able to...do like a casual RPG. One where you don't have to deal with what's-her-faces-dead-evil-mother come back from the grave to steal grapes (or something).

It reminded me of old school anime (the good stuff) like Slayers or a streamlined Lodoss War. I think you did an excellent job with what you had. *thumbs up*
