Uh... fan translations are very often really bad, so I dunno if I agree that fan patches have better quality control. I mean alot of them is just one guy doing it in his free time with nobody at all checking the quality.
There's some bad "official" translations too, but none as bad as alot of the worse ones that fans made.
You might be thinking of way back when, but nowadays there is a certain site that makes sure a fan-patch is top quality before they put it out there, and most people usually go to that site nowadays.
Also..sorry to read you have that Piano, hope everything will be fine. I don't know if this is what you have, but it looks like it can disappear thankfully -

Will it go away?
In most cases, AIHA comes on acutely, or quickly. Depending on what triggered the antibody production, it can resolve within a few months or last years.
FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER
So I had a chance to play this game. It was fun, but it looks like it would be better for me to play on the go rather than playing it on my laptop.
[RM2K3] game protection
Yeah I never liked it when I couldn't open a game, and especially today's RPG maker games. If I wanted to replace a song (that is the same song, but better) then I would like that option, somebody out there finally did remixes for the rm2k songs which are alot better. Sometimes I wanted to open up a game if I was stuck or there was game-breaking bug that didn't allow me to go any further. Other times there is content that is leftover that is not normally accessible (which I experienced when playing Dragon Fantasy), and it fascinates people like me on what "could have been".
Game Design: Progress Skill Tree.
I would grab some ideas from Xenosaga Episode I-II-III since those games did Skill-Trees. That is the only thing I can think of if you need ideas.
How To Lock My rpgmaker Game
Simple programs like Microsoft Word or even Open Office should be able to correct your grammar or even online sites dealing in such things for free.
The only deal is unless your text is meant to be conveyed in certain ways if your character is supposed to have unique grammar to portray his personality, and accents.

Fan patches are not really bad, but I see your point though. Fan patches however have better quality control, and more accurate (most of the time). The problem is when a official company does it that they rush themselves to get it done within the deadline. This has been a problem since the 90s, but the quality has gotten better bit by bit, but still has some problematic translations.

SNES had a lot of good JPN-only games, and thankfully the fans have translated about at least half of the good ones out there, but many more to be translated.
Also I got a new laptop! My god it so much better. I had to go full nerdrage though with this damn Windows 7 however. I got rm2k, and Nevewinter Nights to fully work on here. The only deal is if I want full screen on older RMN games then I would have to hook it up to the TV.
Also had to edit the Registry for the very first time to give full permissions to .msi files.
On the bright side..I can now play the newer RPG Makers without noticeable lag except maybe a few select games that have complex scripts.

Final Fantasy: Legend of Balance
Looks like I didn't update my AMD drivers, so it should work better now.
