I mean, the idea of an article is to link back to it various times and to also throw it on the front page at intervals like during review events (and link to it there, too).

For what it's worth, I had it in my head to keep track of what events occur, and what games came out of them, for my own purposes. At the very least, post about what games on/from RMN I manage to actually play (even if just for a little bit) in the gaming diary.
Good, Good, Fantastic. I think what we have here is enough then. This year, we want to focus on fixing the nomination and best event game problem, and it sounds like these suggestions are going to fix that.
I already have a couple of more suggestions, but I'm gonna save those for next year.
(I'll maybe write them down in the 2019 thread so I won't forget)
But yeah, I'll check in on what each one of you guys are doing from time to time to see how it's going.

2021 Misaos - Thoughts, Ideas, Plans

I was thinking about making an article that sums up the events and gets edited for each one, with a small blurb about each event game for each event.
Okay, good, Fantastic. The only thing I would suggest here is, depending on when this article is made or released. keep it in a place like the Important Section, the What's Buzzing corner or What's Written - wherever you do decide to place it - place it there, for more than a month, maybe a month and a half - because as you guys will notice from the 2020 thread Marrend put together for the misaos, news moves very slowly on RMN - they may not see it in the time you want them to, so you want to keep it there long enough, so that they'll get a chance to reply and respond to it, so they can then make those nominations - maybe even place it in such a way that it leads a month and a half into October, so that people willl already have a solid idea of what RMN event games they want to talk about leading into the misaos, because there's going to be a lot of RMN event games - there is always 4 times as much, RMN event games, than the regular games that actually win every year.
This is absolutely crucial, because without an automated system in place, this is how RMN actually works.
If you ignore how this works, we're gonna have another bad misao year again.
This just came about from watching how you guys have used the site in the past.
We're just trying to play to it's strength here, so we don't have to work as hard at rounding up these games at the end of the year.

(don't merge these two, keep them separate - because there's always going to be funny game and a trippy game every year)

-adjust The BeetleNinja/Sleeper Hit award from below 100, to below 150 to allow some breathing room for games we might miss this year
-and finally bring back
Best Fan Game:The Lawsuit waiting to happen
The Best Fan Game of the year with the best use of rips
...because there's always going to be a fan game every year.
I think these changes will give us a nice selection of games to choose from this year. Despite the nomination fub, 2020 was a good year, we just want to carry that forward with some improvements.

...So, the problem with event games and the misaos is that no one participating in RMN events is nominating on best event game.
What I suggested to do was to post on each RMN event game jam this year, a simple reminder to nominate best event game - maybe even later turn that reminder into a link that would redirect the player, to a playlist of all the games from that event, so they could easily nominate on all the games available once that event was over.
If no one is willing to do this. I would be willing post this reminder on each event page myself this year, if I was given the privileges to do so. This reminder needs to be on the event page because if it's in the comment section everyone will very miss easily miss the reminder within a couple of days a posting - this reminder needs to be in a place where everyone can very easily and quickly see it. This will help negate the problem of best event game nominations we had for 2020. If no one else is willing to do this work, I'd be more than happy to do it.

Controls : Enter to validate difficulty, z to shoot bullets, esc to close.
It seems the game is self extracting temporary content when launching.
Little fun game by the way ;)

I'm transferring the master list over to the new archive: I ran into something strange: Ad Nauseam doesn't seem to work. I don't know what engine it runs on, but whenever I try to play it seems to bring up an error.

- I think we can combine punniest/trippiest into one category - Most Comedic, as both tend to be part of the other.
Keep these categories permanent, but also separate. There's always going to be a funny game every year and there's always going to be a trippiest game every year. There may have been some overlap this year, but these categories are working as intended: BeetleNinja was actually pretty funny game. and I'm sure Weird and Unfortunate was also a very trippy game - do not change these categories we need them.

- An award for positive representation of diversity is a great idea! We get a lot of LGBTQ+ on the site thanks to the Pride Month events (and even outside of them) so it's something we can celebrate with.
I really like this one, I really liked A Maned Lioness and want to see more games like it. This should also be permanent.

- Animal award is staying mainly because why not? Games about animals! They're easy to tell apart. I might clear up the description for it, though.
+1 This category is working as intended. the problem with it is similar to the best event game award, which I've been meaning to touch upon later.
- Instead of having it be below a certain set of downloads, perhaps just say 'low downloads/traction'. That way if a sleeper hit gets 101 downloads it doesn't get punted to the moon. We can curate from there.
Yeah, I agree with what unity said, change it to below 150 to allow some breathing room. 300 is a the new healthy download number for RMN games. I'll admit it's going to be tricky this year, but I'm going to make it work.
Thought - best game in a non-RM engine?Silver Night's Crusaders was a neat game. I really want to bring back the Lawsuit waiting to happen award, because there's always going to be a fan game of some sort being made on RMN. The way it was originally worded was too confusing, it needed to be more distinct, just call it:

It just needs to be clear this is for fan games only. I like the fact that games like Day Dreaming Derpy was nominated for this award. This also could've been an award Moonsong could've easily won as well if it was here this year. Not only was it a great looking game. But how it was able to piece familiar resources together in order to create something new. I think is worthy of some merit - There wasn't just Romancing Saga 3 stuff in there, but Secret of Mana and King of Dragons. bring this award back, because there's always going to be a fan game.
There's still the problem of the RMN Event games and the misaos, but I'll get to that tomorrow.
We've talked about it already, but I want to make sure that we actually agreed to do something about it, in order to fix it.

author=MarrendNo it's not, because Beetleninja was never featured as a hidden gem, and it still went overlooked for the majority of the year.
However, I think it's worth reiterating that this is an award for what would otherwise be on the front page as a "Hidden Gem" slot.
This is why we need this new award. This new category will help fix that.
It is a category with a criteria similar to BeetleNinja's to help find other overlooked games like it on RMN.
It ultimately means less work for us at finding and promoting these games,
because there is now a category in place that helps encourages this.
That's why we need this new category.
It will work as intended.
