...Or just add a minimum character threshold that has to be met to post a blog post, I don't know, maybe at least 400 characters?
This idea sounds nice on paper (save for the large character req.), but it's not necessarily the length, but the content of the post that should be called into question.

author=PokemaniacRules won't be that strict. If things go as I want to present them, the majority of blogs will be totally fine. Ultra low content submissions and posts are discouraged across the site, there's no reason we shouldn't be expecting more from our members blogs in the coming months.
