Thickening the plot

The going theory I have is by the time Chapter 1 ends, the characters are under the assumption that it must be a dream because it's too weird to be explained otherwise. The characters don't know that the experience was shared at that point. That's part of the player knowledge versus character knowledge that I was talking about in the "Knowledge is power" blog. What players believe at that point, well, I guess they can be allowed to believe what they want, now that I think about it.

One of the things I'm envisioning for Chapter 2 is when everyone is at Goho's house, Joruri, Katai, and Goho talk about their "shared dream", and the discussion about why they had such a close experience are so similar can go from there. I was going to have the discussion in the school, but with just Joruri's and Goho's input. I believe having Katai mouth off is important as well.

Level Feedback - A-D

This might be old information, depending on how much has changed, but when I last played it, Galaxy Slide's "P" switch caused the game to hang. No, I guess the game was still running, somehow, as the next thing that I saw happen was Mario going down a pipe. It was rather disjointed, regardless.

I don't like the phraseology of "unseen for our eyes." Perhaps "unseen by our eyes" would be better, or maybe go with "cannot be seen"?

Mock Interview: Mitsuya Masako

I must confess, this one was probably the easiest "interview" I could have done. I developed Masako's background a lot more than the other characters. The funny thing is that a lot of this information, such as Masako's family and what they do, is totally inconsequential to the game as a whole.

I'm guessing half the fun of doing this is to allow a window to potential players about what your vision of a character is before he or she starts playing.

Actually, I was considering having an in-game interview as one of the optional tasks one can do during Chapter 2...

I don't see why Shortstar's version isn't up as the "official" version . When GRS gets his act together, he can put up his version as an alternate download. I'm pretty sure it's possible to do something like this, but I'm not particularly knowledgeable with how a project with this many developers work, gamepage wise.

Considering a Pass/Fail

Is it "very much" or is it JUST VX RTP? Graphics that fit RTP style = fine. VX RTP = ugly, garish and awful.


If one is inclined to think that default RTP is ugly, wouldn't that person think that graphics that could easily be mistaken for default RTP think those graphics would be ugly as well? I dunno. Perhaps I've misinterpreted something here.

I hate to say admit this, but Ocean's post probably has more useful information for me than any other feedback I've gotten thus far. It's given me a few things to think about, certainly. In any event, I want to try a certain exercise in characterization before I do anything major to the design.

Act II - Interview with Daniel

I've seriously been thinking of doing something akin to this with Matsumori Days. I'm thinking that the angle of the interview would be having the "interviewer" be a member of the in-game school newspaper, the Matsumori Daily. I'm not sure if the mock interviews I would post would be as interesting as this series has been, but it should give insight to characters beyond merely playing the game as-is.

Update time?

There might be a reason to be downhearted from being fairly constantly told that one's mapping is "noobish", but I grant that being downhearted is not a reason to cancel a game. Which means the decision to cancel Legacy Reborn was based solely on the emotional state I was in at the time. I'll bring it back eventually, but I do want to work on it some before I revive it on an official basis.

I want to focus on the creation of this game, though. As soon as these ideas I have flesh out more, I should be chugging along at a decent clip. At least, as far as Chapter 2 is concerned. Chapter 3 could probably use some re-examination. I'll be sure to blog about it when I get that far.
