I can't critique map design, as I'm terrible at it, myself. Even so, it looks like it could be interesting.

Actually, it looks like the water could drain out, allowing the player to walk in those areas. Not exactly a new concept, but it's something I don't think I've seen done in RPGM.

The alphabet poster might just be a visual cue. As if to say, "Hey, it's a school room!" That's how it rubs off on my end.

I wanted to keep as close as possible to the original map design. However, my own maps don't fair much better than this. Thanks for the advice!

It was a tile-by-tile remake. The only maps that are 100% mine are the "Cave of Trials", where the Abomination is. You can rip on me as much as you want on that front.
The only map that underwent any revision was the Lava Cave. I suppose I could have made some code to allow for terrain damage for going over the lava (as per the original version of the game). Depends how many people scream foul now that I said that...
