Always loading first page of a topic...

I don't know if it's just me, but is it possible to click on a topic from the main forum directory and not always go to the first page automatically but rather the page/post that you've last read in that topic? I thought that this feature would be found somewhere in your user settings but I didn't come across it. It seems to be a pretty standard forum feature so I am just missing some tickbox somewhere or what?

SlidingSlope.png

He's sliding down the edge of the cliff. The sliding mechanic changes in that Pengui is able to change directions while sliding down. Unlike sliding on a flat surface where he continues in one direction and doesn't stop until he hits something or slides off the ice, sliding down a slope lets him move from left to right while continually sliding in a downward direction.

What's your job ?

Last time I checked UPRC was in Dartmouth, so there's quite a few of us in Nova Scotia apparently! (Was anyone else at the Best Buy Grand Opening in Chain Lake today? Would be funny if we ended up in the same place at the same time and didn't know it).

How to show numbers.

I wonder if what you're looking for is a way to split variables in RM into their single digits so that you can get away with only creating a few sets of 10 conditional branches (for 0 to 9), because if so, there's a simple way to do that in Rm2k/3.

Here's a screenshot of the code that uses images to display the number.

(I didn't need to use any numbers in the thousands in my game so I ignored checking what the thousand digit is, that's why I start at hundreds instead in the second half of the code in case you're wondering).

Basically the top section of the code is the most important. You need to create 4 variables, one for each digit you will want to retrieve. (ThousandDigit, HundredDigit, TenDigit, and OneDigit). The first thing you do is set all the those variables to be equal to whatever number you want to split (in your case, money). Then for the next line of code select your HundredDigit as your variable, Modulus as your operation, and the number "1000" as your operand. Do the same for the TenDigit and OneDigit, but using the modulus value of 100 and 10 respectively. Then the next line of code you do ThousandDigit minus Hundred Digit. After that, HundredDigit minus TenDigit, and finally, TenDigit minus OneDigit. Your last three lines are to divide the ThousandDigit value by 1000, HundredDigit by 100, and TenDigit by 10. That's it! You've successfully split a number into all its separate digits.

So if your money was 1456 gold, after you run that line of code these would be what the variables would end up as:
ThousandDigit = 1
HundredDigit = 4
TenDigit = 5
OneDigit = 6.

Your next lines of codes would just be what to do with that info. Basically, it would just be 4 sections of conditional branches, one for each digit, with 10 branches in each section (for digits 0 to 9). In my case I have 10 possible pictures (the numbers 0 to 9) and in each branch I just show that digit using a show picture command in the appropriate coordinates of the menu. In the end you only have a few branches instead of thousands if you went about doing this the long way.

Hope that helps you out!

What's your job ?

I'm a legal drug dealer (i.e. Pharmacist). The job has its ups and downs. I enjoy it mainly, however you do get sick of people trying to manipulate the healthcare system - no, I am not going to give you your narcotics or benzos a week early from their due date. It really depends on where you work however. I just worked my first year in New Brunswick, and that place is just druggie central. Everyone is on unemployment and practically using their government cheques for illicit drugs or narcotics. It's pretty sad. Now that I've moved back to Halifax I've decided to take the summer off and find some sort of pharmacy employment in the fall. The degree of druggies as I like to call them is much lower here - at least where I'm living.

Let's Make it Official

I've been registered here since 2009 however I haven't really posted anything. I guess the reason behind that was I felt a slight conflict of interest coming from GW... you see those times saw some bitter rivalry between the two sites for some dumb reasons so I figured me being active in both sites would have been very awkward given my position at that site at the time.

Anyway, I really appreciate RMN in that it's been able to be a haven for those dabbling in amateur game development, and I love the degree of passion people have here about game design.

I figured I should finally officially introduce myself and jump into the fray. Better late than never I hope! I already see a couple of familiar faces, hopefully certain ones from my past are still around and kicking (where art thou Mr. Y?), and to those of you who I don't know, I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Pengui doesn't really like it when you force him to restart a level.
