Things We Wish For... Part 1.

Mind: I AM in favor of cataloging some obscure classics for posterity. Especially when I'm uncomfortable with a number of good games existing solely at GW.net. Which is sort of like loitering on a rickety old bridge.

Karsu's Sketch Topic

Lovely stuff. You do real good at keeping this thread active.

Though, I take it that these girls aren't the same character? They all look very similar. Maybe it's just me.

I might suggest playing with a few alternate facial features to give them a bit more individual flair.

Things We Wish For... Part 1.

Doesn't Queen's Court do something like this?

Games you think should be on RMN

It had its moment, though I disliked how it constantly ripped of Monty Python skits (Not to mention lifting an entire scene from Robin Hood: Men in Tights.)

Assuming I'm thinking of the same game.

The sarcastic save point was groovy, though.

Edit:

Incidentally, I found a e-mail for Kindredz (Forgotten Majesty) at the Gamingw.net. Sent him an e-mail to request he put his game up. Don't know if the e-mail account is still used, though. Never mind, the e-mail is dead.

Panoromas in RMXP

Many thanks! It works. Wonderful!

If I should need to switch back mid-game (which I doubt, since I prefer this set up coupled with the Panorama scrolling script at phylomortis.com) would there be a way to reference that in an event script, or is that a mountain of work?

Would we really need to bother with lots of different heroes/classes?

I imagine we could just give a character access to their three trees. Maybe making them learn a switch-skill that takes them to their skill-tree to spend points or some such. That seems dead easy.

If every character is equal in growth outside of what they would learn in their particular skill tree, than we probably wouldn't have to worry about giving them different stat growth.

Of course, we COULD give them particular stat growth upon level up based on every single combination, but that sounds like a nightmare of balancing work.

Also: If we have only twelve skill trees, wouldn't that mean that the player could just have EVERYTHING with a four party member set up? That really hurts replayability.

Panoromas in RMXP

This is more a vertical problem that horizontal. The panorama moves to the left and right just fine, it's just that the top of the thing is gray, and the bottom is orange. This is an abrupt change to loop around to. (Also, having more than one cloud line would be kind of odd.)

Panoromas in RMXP

Is there any way to make the Panorama in RM XP completely static? By default, it scrolls ever so slightly automatically when you move.

The problem is, most of the panoramas I have do not tile seamlessly. I wanted to use the sunset one in the RTP, but the level I am making is too large, and the panorama is simply not made to loop around.

Alternatively, I'll just have to find an an appropriate panorama that DOES loop well. RM2K's sunset panorama would probably work, but it's kind of lame by comparison.

If there's any fancy magical RGSS script to work around this, I'd be grateful.

Games you've been neglecting... (The Pile of Shame)

La Pucelle Tactics, Anachronox and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Generica - [RMVX..?]

Interesting, although maybe also a little limiting. How would you handle fighting characters who are more driven by combat prowess rather than magic/skills?

I suppose if each individual skillset has its own tree, with stat boosts and such, it works out. Though weren't you wanting to avoid skill-trees earlier, Kentona? Or do you mean it as a list-investment ordeal?

I'm REALLY indecisive on how best to handle the magic situation. I'm still sort of leaning towards the whole scrolls bit, but I should think more on this. WIP's idea is worth consideration.
