[RMVX ACE] Incorrect Sound Effect Help?
author=Marrend
To the best of my knowledge, there is no sound effect associated with obtaining items. Are you using a script that makes this association? What is the sound effect that plays "normally"?
*Edit: Do any other sound effects play during this event? Maybe a screenshot of what it looks like might be in order for us to help with the debugging.
Actually, I just took another look at how it goes and it seems I made a small mistake with the event. Apparently I had put in to play a sound effect at some point, but I used a sound effect I had already made as a placeholder that I forgot about. I must have missed it because I recall making this particular section of the event the other day and made the actual sound effect sometime after. It seems I never swapped it out for the normal sound effect.
In this screenshot right here right below where it gives the actual item I set it to play a sound effect titled "party_member_death". The sound effect above that, "item_get" is what is supposed to normally play. Just a mistake on my end.
[RMVX ACE] Incorrect Sound Effect Help?
I have an issue regarding some sound effects I have in place that play incorrectly when a cutscene plays out.
For context purposes, the main character in my project has to talk to a store owner about getting his daughter to join the party (as she is the healer/crafter for the game). Part of this discussion gives the player a key to enter a closed off section of the town to defeat a specific monster. When the player gets this key through normal event flow, the sound effect that plays is the sound effect that is supposed to be used for whenever a player loses a party member in battle. I tried playing the normal sound effect through the event flow in hopes that it would override the other sound, but both sounds play on top of each other.
I tried examining the database in hopes that I could find a solution but I did not see any sort of option that allows me to change the sound used for when I get an item. Is there a specific section in Sound Effects that I missed which is tied to this, or is this related to scripting in some way?

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!
As of late I've been experimenting with some open source music software. I've been itching for a chiptune soundtrack for my project although the most I've been able to do is some basic NES-Like sound effects.
King Just Trademaked the word "Super"
Didn't they try to trademark the word "Candy" and get denied? I doubt that even this would go through.
Why do you make RM games?
author=Shade_Hunter
Before having this program I had no prior experience in game making. When I first brought RPG Maker, it was nice to test it around, to get joy and trust for own game making skills.
Hundred times this.
Playing around with it was a great way to familiarize myself with the software and see where I stand with my own skills.
What are you thinking about? (game development edition)

Well, to be honest, I've always wanted to make a Kingdom Hearts type of game where original characters end up meeting characters from other game worlds(not by jumping into a game or TV). Rather than a character going to worlds of a specific company (Disney in this case), the character(s) would travel a small chunk of worlds that are both from obscure games and games we all know and love. Of course, it wouldn't exactly be all original scenes because KH puts Sora in the middle of Disney character's original stories.
If this were to be created, it would do the same by putting these characters in the middle of each game's most memorable moments.For example, lets say our hero goes through this and that; eventually ending up in the Mushroom Kingdom and meets Mario as a temporary party member in Super Mario 64, or ends up in Hyrule to join Link to fight Ganondorf, Dream Land, Mega Man's World(Earth), Mobius(Sonic), Final Fantasy, and a bunch of other worlds that are being threatened by a new evil that gives villains more power than ever. It would probably take a team to pull something like this off, but its just an idea I'm putting out there.
The only reason why this idea sort of came to mind is because in Kingdom Hearts, Sora only travels through Disney Worlds and not any from FF, and I have absolutely no complaints about that or their design choices. However, It would be cool to see small chunks based on worlds from Final Fantasy such as Ultimecia's Castle from FF8 or Alexandria from FF9.
Sounds like an interesting idea, though implementing characters like Mario and Link would be difficult. I imagine communication between characters would be important, and Mario and Link's vocabularies aren't exactly varied.

Steam Greenlight is dead: Valve introduces Steam Direct
While it's a little disappointing to see Greenlight go, it's also a bit thankful as we may not get as much garbage flowing into steam. Too many a time have I seen games that were clearly just jokes or complete filth get greenlit and actually make it into the store.
Hopefully Direct will make it so it filters out a little more crap since according to the article, the submission fee is per-game. I wouldn't mind a high fee, but as long as it was reasonable on some level per game. I'm not sure I would be very willing to pay at most (thankfully at most) $5000 per submission. Thankfully it's only a range that they're considering and it most likely will not cost 5 grand per game. I have doubts anyone is going to pay $200-$5000 every time they wanna submit something along the lines of this, so hopefully people will think twice about the quality of their title before actually making some kind of submission.
