Reviewing RMN's Visual Novels
Some of them don't seem to be. Looking though the first page of results after searching for games with the "Visual Novel" tag...
-Acetonic Mushrooms doesn't seem to be one, but might suffer from not fitting very well into any of the categories
-Games Journo Story looks more like a standard RPG than a Visual Novel from the screenshots, but I wouldn't be able to tell for sure without playing it.
-Beloved Rapture looks like a regular RPG
-Novella doesn't look like a visual novel and doesn't seem to be tagged as such, but is showing up on the search results anyways?
In general, there seem to be a lot of games which wouldn't be considered Visual Novels by the fanbase of that particular medium (Ganonfrog used the term "Cinematic RPGs" in his opening post, which seems to be as good a term as any to describe them).

For reference in future phases of the competition, when it says that the deadline is "January 9th", did it mean "Must be turned in by the time it becomes January 9th", or "Must be turned in by the time January 9th is over"

Ranked votes sounds like it would be needlessly complicated. My thoughts would just be each voter can choose up to 3-5 choices, so that the final winner would be "The song with the largest number of people who considered it to be among the best submissions" rather than "The song with the largest number of people who considered it to be the absolute best, above all others".
That being said, it's probably too close to voting time to sit down and have a discussion on what the optimal voting system would be.

Since there are a good number of entries, will everybody be given several votes and pick their "top X" entries (or fewer, if they so desire), or will it just be everybody picks their single favorite entry?

Just to ask for clarification, one could use chords on a piano and still have it count for only one instrument, but to do so with flutes would require using up multiple instrument allotments.

@Marrend: The ID-10 thing shouldn't be necessary. If I'm reading the custom-content manual correctly, they only have to be individual within each file, and it would be perfectly fine to have Masako be ID-1 from one file and Miki be ID-1 from another (for example).
I may be reading that wrong, though.
With that being said, I was still getting a few parsing issues from the new story content (a few lines that were supposed to be comments but weren't marked as such, a location listed as "convenience store" rather than "convenient store", etc). I think that I got the most recent version of your content (since it had the images in it), but I'm not entirely sure.
edit: partial nevermind, I was trying to run these off of v0.20, which apparently used different syntax. Still getting some commenting errors in the story file, as well as an error with a branch that I don't have enough knowledge to fix.
