Super Street Fighter 4 gets a 3rd Strike

Man, I don't know how SF4 could have made it any easier for a beginner to get into the fighting scene. The training mode tells you EXACTLY what to do. It tells you how to dragon punch, and even gives you combos that range from very easy to ridiculously hard. It even tells you (step by step by the way) how far you got into the combo and where you messed up at. If you do the training mode, you are almost guaranteed to beat 75% of the players out there. Capcom did their homework, IMO.

Hmph, this isn't impressive at all.

On Story Structure

This is great stuff for someone starting out. I like it.

I hope you don't mind if I plug something that I think will also help in this area of game making. Strangeluv made an article (I dunno if you could call it that since it's almost a book) on this and I feel this is a great time to share it if you guys missed it from GW. It's long, but I learned a lot from it, and I hope it helps if you guys want something that's more...lengthy.

Nifty little way I found to reconcile setting/background exposition and gameplay.

It's...just a few sentences. He is not throwing everything out the window (character development, sidequests, etc) and putting WALLS OF TEXT in books to give you an item. It's no big deal. There isn't enough to warrant a sidequest in that small blurb anyway. It's all good discussion, but there are better things to worry about than 4 boxes of dialogue. :)

I don't think you could get anymore nitpicky than 4 boxes of dialogue. Maybe you can...

Sonic The Hedgehog 4!!

They are touching it, it's not all Dimps. They also have the senior level designer who worked on Sonic 3. okay.

Standards

I know most people say Gameplay=Story/Characters/Writing=Graphics...but I honestly can't say I agree with that. When it comes to video games, I think gameplay should come first and foremost.
Stop thinking everything separately and maybe you'll agree a little more.

When people review games, they tend to think otherwise. That's why I don't really like how reviews are done, but it's the standard so w/e.

Easy Mode

I figured you could do this easily since you don't even have to add a copy of the monster in the database. Variable magic! =)

That's why your battle system is so great.

The Final Fantasy XIII topic

The best Square-Enix will ever do is send a PR person to take your questions (unless you're really really lucky). They're really tight on this sort of thing, from what I've heard. Maybe it's because they have 50 games in development at once.

But it would be nice if there were more Bioware/Valve business models around, though.

Super Street Fighter 4 gets a 3rd Strike

I got pretty high in championship mode on SF4. But that doesn't really equate to my skill...people who were terrible at the game would be high rank simply because they played for way too many hours. I hope they fixed the netcode. That's the only thing I would like fixed now.

Oh yeah, I remember going to the arcade too on weekends with my older brothers. I was ten years old facing guys twice my age. I never won many games in MvC, but I was okay at X-men vs. Streetfighter. I wish there were arcades where I live now. =(

So basically I want a Xbox 360.

If you're getting one, make sure you get a jasper or something newer. Basically anything from mid 2008 and up is good. Anything older has a much much higher chance of the red rings. And since you want a cheap one, you'll be outta luck if it dies.

Ebay is good though. You can get them for a little over $100 and will work great. If you want a bigger hard drive(60gb or higher), then it might cost a little more. Those are really only good if you install games to your hard drive. The 20gb is enough for most people, but they don't sell them anymore so ebay/craigslist is the way to go.
