Problems with Windows 7
Oh, yeah I know that it isn't perfect. Problems are bound to come up when there are billions of computers out there. I was just saying it could be a lot worse. I've always had to make tweaks to my systems in order for them to be running exactly the way I wanted. I think that will always be the case. But XP had bugs that completely froze your system if you had a certain chipset. Also, the product activation (oh god). If you have ever read the horror stories on WPA, you'll know why it's the main reason there are so many pirated versions of XP out there.
I didn't get it under the impression it would magically run my system better, though (everything was fine under xp). But I didn't realize how much easier life was once I used the new taskbar in W7. Seriously, that thing is the best.

Problems with Windows 7
Most of us were kids when windows XP first came out, so you probably don't realize it had way more hardships than the current generation of Windows when it first came out. If you think this is a step backwards, I don't know what to tell you.

Japan actually is really in love with America. I'm not sure where you're getting the aiming at a world-wide audience thing from back in the snes days. This was hardly the case. It is now though, since the American market is pretty much where all the $$$ is in gaming these days, so now Japan is aiming at a world-wide audience. They're putting ff13 on the 360 just for us. They're obsessed.
As far as quality, I dunno. There are some really really good rpgs out (valkyria chronicles).You just have to ignore the milking of certain games.

The Final Fantasy XIII topic
This is probably the best composer they've had. No victory fanfare kinda sucks but they've done a good job with tying environments together with music. For example, there are several open fields and wilderness areas that are based off of the main battle theme, but are very mellow and soothing. It's also probably the biggest soundtrack of the series (4 discs).
Here's some gameplay that isn't shit. This boss has a really high break percentage and it looks like that's the only way to kill it. He goes into battle in a defensive class (you'll see why when the monster attacks), and then switches to break the boss down and eventually attack.
also the game can't handle a monster that big so the camera angle is worse than the usual (which is still bad).

I cannot wait until the day this comes out and all the skeptics completely change their mind about the game and don't base what they've heard off of amazon.jp reviews (the same people who raided Dragon Quest 9, they are literally scum).
If anything you will check the game out because of what it does different. It does a lot different. And this is a good thing.

But uh as for maps just practice and learn from snes games. Making interior maps and exterior maps are different from each other, so don't apply everything you know from one and apply it to the other. And don't have your maps cutoff. Okay.

Standards
Standards are a double-edged sword and they bring as much pain as they do joy. And the longer you stay in the game, the higher it goes!
Now I really just don't care and if a game looks fun I will check it out. I found that you can turn into the NITPICK KING which is like poison in anything you ever try to create. It's an important phase of development to go through, but you eventually have to step past it or you're just digging your own grave.
