Uh.

That generator is already in the Helpful Things topic. :<

To make this post not suck, here's a link to some graphics you've seen all over rmxp.org if you go there--

http://sozaimenu.gozaru.jp/english.html

It has rm2k3 stuff and rmxp stuff (mostly the latter). Lots of great, soulless anime material!

Site seems to be dead, and I remember it as having some pretty good battlers. Did anyone save what was here or know if its up somewhere else?

The Screenshot Topic Returns

Thanks for all the compliments.

I am probably only going to draw original sprites for important bosses or party characters. Basic enemies I'll probably just edit existing graphics so that they match up stylistically. I have a set of walking sprites for each that I drew too, and a set of facesets for each that have been heavily edited. I'd say graphics alone have taken me about a year, and I'm still not done with spell animations. (or "coding" the battle system.)

It is definitely a hassle, and at the rate I work, operating systems will probably stop being able to run 2k3 before I finish anything, so I had to just learn to enjoy the process, and stop worrying so much about rushing anything out. Big reason I was disappointed that 200x bit the dust. Wish I could somehow transfer it all over to VX or Ace, but I've got too much invested in this engine at this point.

The Screenshot Topic Returns

they're completely original, but I'll cop to using the RTP characters as a base, at least for the first four, I kind of got attached to them.

the red blocks shoot up out of the ground, it's an earth spell (I also drew those by the way.)

as far as the monk, they're all animated, and he does go to a lower crouch as part of his idle animation

An Official *English* Version of 2k3 Approaches!

If I sign this, will EB fix all the bugs this engine has?
Well, first off, nothing is guaranteed. We could get all the signatures in the world but in the end it's up to EB. Signatures show interest but I don't believe they are a guarantee of any action.

I'm imagining if they decide to re-release, they would fix the bugs. It's all about incentive to get people to buy their products. If they just translate it to English, what's the incentive in purchasing software that barely works on a modern OS?

In addition, when 2k3 was released back in 2003, there were various patches and fixes that went into the engine. I imagine with a proper, larger English community now, our complaints will speak much louder.

Enterbrain claims on their website that with a little dedication anyone can create an RPG. I completely agree. It's just that some people have so much dedication to their projects they aren't quite ready to upgrade to a new maker.

this is why it really sucks that 20xx bit it. The main thing that drew me to it was the idea that I would still be able to play my game years in the future. As it stands I probably won't even get it finished before computers stop being able to play it.

The reason I stick with 2k3 is that I've already got years invested into a project in it that can't be ported to anything else.

+++ DynRPG - The RM2k3 Plugin SDK +++

Couple of questions about things this plugin could potentially do:

The ability to create 'flame saber' type effects where you can add an element to a character's base attack?

A "true" reflect skill. As it stands, the default reflect skill returns all skills whether they're physical or magical, and its kind of overpowered. Possible to pick and choose which spells are affected by it?

The ability to tell which skill a character has just used? As it stands you can only tell which skillset has been used, not a specific skill. The only way to determine whether a specific skill has been used is with a tortured MP differential technique that means no two skills can have the same Mp.

Changing a character's idle animation in battle? As it stands the only way to do this is by changing class. This would allow for more colorful bad status animations.

The ability to switch party members in battle ala FFX?

Would any of these be possibilities using DynRPG?

"Delay" before showing spell animations

Ok, switching version 1.030 of the RPG_RT fixed the delay issue, it now waits until after the casting animation is complete to show the spell animation, but it introduced two new problems, namely MP3s will play in the editor, but not when running the game, and my font is different, not screwed up, just different.

Any idea on how to fix these things? I guess I don't mind using 1.080 and adding in the extra frames, I just want to make sure it's going to behave the same on every machine that plays it.

"Delay" before showing spell animations

Well, I went back and tested some projects on my old computer, and it differs between projects even on just that computer. Some delay it, some don't, there's no pattern to it that I can tell.

"Delay" before showing spell animations

Sorry forgot to mention, it's Rm2k3, and RTP is installed on both
